In the second game of the series, the Vikings were under pressure after a late Aussie win in the first match. Managers Znik and Lippo sent their teams out to attack, in what became a very entertaining affair. One team did show a more clinical side, however, as the result was more lop-sided than the game itself.
It was obvious that this would be an action-packed game, as already at the warm-up, Mile Jedinak showed Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan his famous bearded smile, completely frightening the two in the process. None of them were seen on the pitch while Jedinak was still playing.
The game kicked off at a frantic pace, with neither team managing to establish good attacking moves. But it didn't take until the 9th minute before we had our first moment of controversy. A cross from Ricardo Rodriguez was played back to Daniele De Rossi at 25 metres. He fired a shot goalwards, which almost hit Zlatan, who completely covered the sight of Matt Ryan in the Australian goal. There were strong calls for offside, but play was waved on, and after a surprised Ryan was caught out by the shot, fumbling it to the feet of Arjen Robben, the Scandinavians were up 1-0. The replays showed that it was Alexis Sanchez who had decided to play as a wide sweeper, who played Zlatan onside.7 minutes later, after a very slick passing move down the right side, the ball was played in to Arjen Robben once more. He turned his marker expertly and curled one of his trademark efforts out of the reach of Matt Ryan. 2-0 Scandinavia!
However, the lead would not be long-lived. 5 minutes later, after a good cross in from Zabaleta, the ball found its way to Paul Pogba, all alone at 5 yards. He shot it goalwards, but De Gea made an amazing save (how come he didn't do that in Pat's game?
). However, Hazard, who had controversially started ahead of Leckie, was on hand to poke the ball home from a tight angle. 2-1 and we had a game on our hands!
The Australian manager, Lippo, encouraged his players. "We've got this now, just don't get caught on the counter-attack!" His team seemed to respond to one part of his message, but unfortunately, 20 seconds after his encouragement, Scandinavia came on the counter-attack. The ball was played into Zlatan, who once again was disposessed by Mile Jedinak. However, Mile went from down-under to under-cover, and expertly played Carlos Tevez through on goal. The Argentine was clinical, and Scandinavia had restored their lead to 2 goals.
The game slowed down, and neither team created much before the break. At the break, Australia decided to replace Jedinak and Hazard, bringing on Leckie, the benched star! However, the removal of Jedinak meant that Cristiano Ronaldo actually dared to come back onto the pitch. He recieved a cross in the box, and fed newly introduced Marchisio who had made a deep run. His finish was impeccable, and the Vikings were up 4-1!
By this point, the Aussie manager, had gotten an attack of Tourettes, and in between his shouting, he struggled to get his messages across to the players. Thus neither he, nor his backroom staff really noticed anything else than his attempts at making substitutions, for the next 10 minutes. In that time, Stephan Lichtsteiner, who was having an excellent game for Scandinavia, managed to sneak up the right wing, and feed a beautiful cross into the path of Carlos Tevez. The small pitbull raced ahead of former teammates Chiellini and Bonucci, and volleyed home for 5-1.
As the game got close to the end, the Aussies had a couple of golden opportunities to save face. The best one fell to Leckie, who had a chance at making himself a cult hero, along the lines of Irishman Shane Long. But Leckie squandered his opportunity, firing straight at De Gea from 5 yards.
In the end, a comfortable result, although not as comfortable a game for Scandinavia. The game was a lot closer than the score suggests, but Tevez and Robben were simply too much for the Aussies to handle.

Also thanks a lot to Lippo for a game that was played in the greatest of spirits, despite major lag issues for the poor Australian. Next time, I'm sure Leckie will score you the winner!
Now, time to decide the series!
