Oof, guess the lack of a top class protecting midfielder is hurting you... tough to see your old club top, too...

A good win this, a game we really should be winning though. Hopefully this will be a boost to morale. Peruzzo scored a nice free-kick, I’ll be taking Dabrowski off free-kicks and replace him with Peruzzo.

View attachment 95215
A great result inspired by Poirier who is the undisputed main man now.

View attachment 95214
After the disappointment of the Bayern game I decided enough was enough with Aldunate and decided to bring in a replacement. I wanted Kose but didn’t have the E112m minimum I’d need to sign him. In truth there isn’t much between Mac Allister and Kose, but there was in the price. The deal to bring him in was E38m up-front, E12m over 48 months, and E5m after 50 league appearances and again after 10 league goals.

To free up the cash, and because I don’t really want him I offloaded Aldunate for E40m up front and another E5m over 12 months.

View attachment 95213
For the first time this season it feels like we are building up a bit of momentum. Yes, we were helped by an early red card today, but you can only play what’s in front of you, and we played well. Managed to get young Miranda on for his debut too.

View attachment 95212
A good win in one of the biggest games of the Europa league with a rotated side. Janicki played well and grabbed a goal, and Baumer was man of the match with 2 assists.

View attachment 95211
Great first half, bad second half. Really annoying to throw away the win like that. At least it’s not a loss. Grassi was man of the match in this one with 2 goals.

View attachment 95210
A rotated side played again today and the performance and result was good. A rather routine win and into the 3rd round.

View attachment 95209
A big draw for the 3rd round of the cup, Wolfsburg away. It’ll be tough getting to the next round.

View attachment 95208
Not out of reach of Wolfsburg yet. We’ll try to stay in the race as long as possible, see what happens.

View attachment 95207
A 100% record in Europe, one more game win and we can play a rotated side for the remaining matches.

A good solid win, Grassi was fantastic in this game and scored a real worldie.

View attachment 95079
We hammered Zenit here, away from home, with a rotated side. A brace from our second choice left winger and striker.

View attachment 95078
Another good result. Peruzzo got things started with one **** of a goal, it was comfortable from there on in. They scored from a mistake from Cantu in goal, but to be fair he has been phenomenal after a bit of a shaky start.

View attachment 95077
A really annoying result, perhaps a bit of a freak one. At the end of the day we weren’t clinical enough. Yet more ground lost on Wolfusburg, who, at the moment, look like winning the league with the side I built, the coach I brought in who took over for me is having an easy start to his managerial career.

View attachment 95076
Last game of the month, and the second European match. We sign off with a win. Even the goalkeeper was rotated in this match and we still won with ease.

View attachment 95075
Down to 3rd now on goal difference, a large 7 point gap between us and Wolfsburg now. Just as important is Bayern 2 points behind us in 5th.

View attachment 95074
We’re through with ease in Europe, not sure I’ve even had to put out a full strength side yet.

Sammuthegreat, I've really struggled to find anyone there for a reasonable price. Was really blessed with Gouveris, who I think now will go on to be the best in the world in that position.

Thanks issteo, I think it's going to be a much bigger challenge than I thought when I applied for the job.

A good win to bounce back in the league. Another good performance from Benteke, and a goal from Poirier. Unfortunately Alves picked up an injury to keep him out for a while.

View attachment 95036
A disappointing result and performance against a tough Schalke side. More annoying as Wolfsburg lost unexpectedly to Augsburg.

View attachment 95035
We see out the Europa league group stages in style. A rotated side dispatched Bursaspor with ease.

View attachment 95034
Really pleased to win this, coming from behind with a man down. Delighted in fact. Baumer was sensational in this game, dragged the game out of the embers.

View attachment 95033
A decent draw in the first knock out round. I fancy us to get through.

View attachment 95032
Just a terrible showing. Took us till almost the end of the match to get a shot on target, we were completely dominated by Wolfsburg. I seem to have created a monster, I maybe shouldn’t have left.

View attachment 95031
Despite the disappointment in the cup we have closed the gap between us and Wolfsburg in the league a little.

Cantu has been absolutely class since coming in, a few dodgy moments at the near post but I think that is more the game than Cantu. His performances have won him north American keeper of the year.

View attachment 94914
Here's Mac Allister in the football manager equivalent of holding up the shirt. I feel the biggest problem this season has been the lack of a real quality striker. At some point in 2009 an Argentine shagged a Scott (presumably) and produced this mutton-chopped monster who I hope is the solution to that problem. He’s very similar to Kose who is tearing up the league, so I’m hoping for the same. A big outlay at E50m but mostly offset by selling Aldunate, who was in the discussion for world player of the year funny enough.

View attachment 94911
Alverez comes in on a free and is a bit of a punt, not expecting much.

View attachment 94908
Budget restrictions meant 2 moves for a more defensive midfielder fell through. I managed to talk the board into giving me a little more wage budget which I was able to put into transfer budget to bring in Mboyo, who will play the attacking midfield advanced playmaker role. With Fillipe Rennan playing a central midfielder defend.

I actually had a bid in for Macho, but Stuttgart wanted too much.

View attachment 94907
We played two friendlies, both wins, both against easy sides.

View attachment 94906
I just happened to be looking at the club information screen and I noticed that Aldunate was down as a club legend. So I looked at his record for Dortmund and had a bit of a surprise, he was REALLY prolific. Perhaps I shouldn’t have given up so soon with him, but he was really poor.

View attachment 94905
A gutting start to the second half of the season. One of those games where your players are skying shots from 5 yards out or taking long hopefuls from 40 yards no matter what. They scored a corener and we could have played another 90 and not scored. A poor debut from our new striker, marginally better from Mboyo.

View attachment 94904
A much better performance in the end, inspired by Mboyo. Mac Allister wasn’t great again, needs a goal to get him started I think. I tweaked the tactic to make it more attacking as it wasn’t creating much. I will stick with the changes now for now.

View attachment 94903
It’s been a busy transfer window as I have looked to shape the squad more to my liking.

View attachment 94902
The Koln result was a real blow to any faint hope of a title challenge. Still too early to rule us out of it, but we’ve now dropped to 3rd behind in form Bayern.

Oof, Aldunate has his first 5-game barren spell for 6 years and he's straight out the door! Haha. There's ruthless and then there's RUTHLESS... hopefully Mac Allister comes into some form.

Yeah, I reallised as soon as I saw that I'd ballsed up. I've told myself since that I needed a striker better in the air to play on his own up front. That partially true, but for him it might have been worth adjusting the system.

Really annoying, Mac Allister ***** again. Bayern and Wolfsburg dropped points but we couldn’t capitalise.

View attachment 94843
Grrr, relegation battling Dusseldorf got a point off us. Shouldn’t be happening.

View attachment 94842
More like it at Stuttgart, Mac Allister FINALLY gets his first goal for the club.

View attachment 94841
A strong side this time for the first knock out round of the Europa league. A win and two away goals should see us through.

View attachment 94840
Another nice win, second 3-0 on the bounce in the league, two more goals for Mac Allister. He still missed a penalty, but glad to have him in the goals.

View attachment 94839
I rotated the side for the home leg, perhaps a little too much. We’re through however which is the main thing. Miranda’s first goal for the club which I’m pleased to see.

View attachment 94838
A pretty though draw for the second round, Valencia are a good side. Most of the sides still in the competition are good though, so it’s going to be tough.

View attachment 94837
Still in the champions league places. We play Bayern next and can go within a point of them if we win. Next month we have Wolfsburg too so the opportunities are there if we can take them.

The first of our many huge game this month. The first half couldn’t have gone better. Second half, we hit the post twice they scored, then got a fluky goal, I went for the win, they got the win.

View attachment 94835
Abysmal performance, their first goal highlights one of the main things we are missing, aside from a top goal scorer, a top free kick taker. We had both at Wolfsburg and looking back it was a major part of winning the league, at Dortmund, we’re desperately trying to cling on to 4th place.

View attachment 94834
A much better performance in the Europa league against Valencia. As you can see we dominated the game, should have scored more, but Poireir was poor (Mac Allister couldn’t be registered, nor Mboyo).

View attachment 94833
I’ve never seen a player hit the post as much as Mac Allister, twice I recall in the Bayern game, thrice today. Had a 0% shot on target ratio, could have had a hattrick. We got the win though which is the main thing.

View attachment 94832
We came with a game plan, and executed it to perfection. We sat deep and went long on the counter. Worked like a dream, with Wolfsburg up next in the league I will take this system into that game.

View attachment 94831
The draw for the quarter-finals sees us go up against Porto, a good side don’t get me wrong but we can beat them. I think we can beat any of the sides still in the competition at this stage on our day.

View attachment 94830
Well that didn’t work, my old team are just too **** good. They got a fluky goal to get them started. They dominated but that was down to how I set the team up. I instantly went 433, Kose dribbled through my whole midfield and defence and slotted home. We were much more in the game with the 433 but we don’t have any goal threat, Kose finished us off by pouncing on a terrible back pass. I don’t know how to topple this Wolfsburg side, but according to my scout all their players could be bought, most of them for over E100m, but maybe they will be picked apart over time. All told, I'm not too annoyed with the loss, it puts Wolfsburg back top and I’d much rather they win the league than Bayern.

View attachment 94829
Luckily Schalke weren’t able to capitalise on us losing again, but BMG move within a point. After a terrible month in the Bundesliga we are 10 points off Bayern and 13 off Wolfsburg. It’s about hanging on to 3rd from here on in.

Wow... you've definitely created a monster, that Wolfsburg team looks immense, Kose especially. Are you going to stick by Mac Allister? It might be his adaptability stat isn't very high so it might take him a while to settle and hit his straps. I had a Serbian guy on a long-term save who I picked up when I was in the Championship - he only scored a few in his first season but then hit 20 the next season once he'd adjusted, 30+ the one after in the Premiership and since then he's been scoring literally 60 goals a season in the league. So it's not too late :)

I decide to stick with him, and let's just say his form improves in the last few months of the season...

Terrible AGAIN! Mac Allister picked up an injury on international duty so Kuqi started as Poirier is out of form Kuqi had to come off second half as he was terrible. Porier managed to grab us a goal, but Augsburg scored a long hopeful shot from distance. So annoying, no matter what level the team they always seem able to do that, whereas there’s no hope of any of my players pulling something like that off.

View attachment 94801
We played on the counter this match as it was away and coming home with a draw and an away goal puts us in a good position for the next round.

View attachment 94800
Great performance here, Mac Allister looking good too. Bit of a reshuffle in midfield, Freiburg are bottom so difficult to know what to make of the good performance.

View attachment 94799
An own goal won it for us, but they all count. Good professional performance and we’re into the semis.

View attachment 94797
Decent draw for the semi-final, I’d prefer Shaktar, but should be able to beat either.

View attachment 94796
An awesome, Mac Allister inspired win. His first hat-trick, he’s really picked up recently, long may it continue.

View attachment 94795
Again, a good win. Mboyo with a brilliant strike to get us started. Dedic confirmed the win.

View attachment 94794
Cut Bayern’s lead over us to 6 points, would take a spectacular collapse by Bayern for us to finish 2nd. More importantly our lead over Schalke in 5th is 9 points. With 3 games to go the champions league is pretty much guaranteed.

I made a bad choice here starting the match on counter. They got a goal and half time I changed it to 433 and we got 2 goals to win it. Great character, really pleased. A lead and 2 away goals. We should get through to the final from here.

View attachment 94792
A great result and performance in the derby with Schalke (although most games seem to be derbys at Dortmund). Both Mac Allister and Grassi were excellent today.

View attachment 94791
Objective 1 this season qualify for the champions league. That objective was completed in the Schalke game. We can’t catch Bayern but we can be caught, so we need to win our games to stay 3rd. This was so important as Alves, Boucher, Peruzzo, Loureiro, Vieira, and Cantu would have wanted to leave had we not qualified.

View attachment 94790
Very disappointing budget, although the finances are in a real bad way. The club is haemorrhaging money and only 30% of received transfer fees will be reinvested. Really we need a centre back a defensive midfielder and an attacking midfielder. Obviously that wont be happening, maybe we can get one.

View attachment 94789
Not a particularly good performance, but we go the win and we’re into the final…

View attachment 94788
…which is a huge derby against Schalke. Obviously we will be without Mboyo and Mac Allister but after our last result against them, I feel there is a chance for a trophy here.

View attachment 94787
Bit of a crazy game this but I’m really pleased to have come away with a win as I feel this is the kind of game we would have lost earlier in the season. Two more goals from Mac Allister 13 in 15 games since arriving, had a poor start too. Think he will be a big player next season.

View attachment 94786
Fine end to the Bundesliga season this was, Mac Allister signed off in style, 4 goals. Takes his tally to 17 goals in 16 games, will be very happy to see that kind of return next season.

View attachment 94785
We end the season in 3rd, 10 points behind Wolfsburg. There’s some catching up to be done next season.

View attachment 94784
A more dominant win than the scoreline suggests, think we would have battered them with Mac Allister in the side. Suddenly, this has turned into a decent season, 3rd in the league and winning the Europa league ain’t bad at all.

View attachment 94783
Suddenly, this has turned into a decent season, 3rd in the league and winning the Europa league ain’t bad at all.

View attachment 94782
Best 11 for the season, stand out players for me are Cantu, Grassi and Mac Allister. If we can keep the side together I think we can push a little harder for the title next season.

View attachment 94781
Benner (CB) won player of the season, a weird one as far as I’m concerned. Mac Allister got signing of the season.

View attachment 94780
Despite only being here for half a season, getting off to a slow start and not being eligible for the later stages of the Europa league, Mac Allister was top scorer. Dedic, our young player of the season got the most assists and our left back got the highest average rating. Mac Allister and Grassi shared the most man of the match stat.

View attachment 94779
Our old boy Juarez was player of the season, with Grassi coming second.

View attachment 94778
But Grassi did win Players player of the season.

View attachment 94777
Despite what I saw as a pretty poor season in the league we had 7 players in the team of the year. Only six in players team of the year, with Grassi, Dedic, Peruzzo, Loureiro, Vieira and Veidamenidis in both teams.

View attachment 94776
The club made significant losses, mostly down to my transfer activity, but lack of champions league can't have helped. Despite the squad needing a few additions, I will have to be a little more responsible next season.

Thanks mate, chuffed to have won it.

Borussia Dortmund - German Bundesliga - 2036/37 Season

Pre-Season

View attachment 1115337
View attachment 94662
Man. Utd. Have come in and met Vieira’s E116m release clause, so I will have to replace him. I made a bid for Leontjev last season but couldn’t find the money to complete the deal. With only around E30m of the money from Vieria leaving being added to my budget, he is about the best I could afford.

View attachment 94661
He’s not a bad player by any stretch, but I would have sooner had him alongside Vieira than replacing him.

View attachment 94660
I also sold our reserve ‘keeper who was an agreed transfer before I came in and was on E90k a week. I got nearly E10m for him in addition to dropping his wages. To replace him I brought in Ekame for less than E1m, on a fraction of the wages. Not that much between them, so I’m happy enough.

View attachment 94659
Confirmation of the Vieira deal. Sad as I am to see him go, it’s completely sorted our finances him leaving.

View attachment 94658
El Sayed forced through a transfer. I promoted a youth player to act as backup but brought Suarez in for £3.3m for a little extra competition.

Having sold or released a few high earners I have freed up a lot of space in the wage budget, which I can convert to just under E30m in transfer budget.

View attachment 94657
And with that money I have brought in Herrera, a player I was keeping an eye on all last season. As far as I can tell there aren’t any other realistic transfer targets out there better for the ball winning role. I will be an important part of next season I hope, it was something that was desperately needed last season.

View attachment 94656
Fillipe Rennan goes to Barcelona for E28m, this is part of a reshuffle of the squad due to a another big deal going through in the future (and that I’m only getting 30% of transfer fees).

View attachment 94655
Here it is, absolutely gutted about this as he is a brilliant player. He ended up handing in a transfer request, and I wont get enough from his fee along to bring in his replacement.

View attachment 94654
Here is Roger Loureiro’s replacement, he’s not as good as him, but he’s the best left back in the world so no-one is. Marcelo is a decent player though so lets see how he gets on. Perhaps a little suspect defensively but not bad for E21m.

View attachment 94653
Yet another blow, from Manchester again. Man. City met Peruzzo’s release clause. There isn’t really the money available to properly replace him so we will get by with what we have for now. I would have liked to have brought in Macho but city have bought him too. The squad is certainly weaker than last season now. I wouldn’t have let Fillipe Rennan leave if I thought for a second Peruzzo would go, I need to keep a better eye on release clauses as this is a steal for City.

View attachment 94652
There hasn’t half been some money exchanging hands this season. Our money troubles are behind us, but very much to the detriment of our squad. In the end dropping out of the champions league last season has really hurt Dortmund.

View attachment 94651
Bit late for that now.

View attachment 94650
Good performances from the friendlies, and what is left of the squad are looking fit and ready to go for the season.

View attachment 94649
We were very unlucky in this match. I would have said we were the better side, but our finishing was poor, theirs was good. We weren’t helped with so many players away at the ****** Olympics.

So after a pretty bad pre-season for everyone but the Dortmund bank manager our first 11 looks something like this:

View attachment 94648
Hoping from more of the same from Cantu this season, as he was really solid last season. That 18 in command of area has been so handy, at times he just runs into the crowd and inexplicably comes out with the ball in his hands, love it.

View attachment 94647
One of the few survivors from our defence last season.

View attachment 94646
Still in defence at 35, but Brenner is still good enough. I would have liked to replace him this summer but the money had to go elsewhere.

Leontjev DCL

Marcelo DL

Herrera BWM

View attachment 94645
Mboyo will fill the void left by Rennan and Peruzzo. The midfield is probably weaker than it’s ever been during my time here, but perhaps better balanced in terms of the positions I want to play.

View attachment 94644
Right wing is one of our strongest positions, we have 2 world class players there but Dedic is the better of the two.

View attachment 94643
After a season a loan spell at Everton I think Janicki is ready to be the main man in attacking midfield, he better be as we don’t really have anyone else there.

View attachment 94642
More of the same please from Grassi who was one of the best players in the division last season. Again we are quite strong here so he will be pushed for his place.

View attachment 94641
With all the departures Mac Allister is the undisputed main man. There are rumors that Utd. are after him. If he went it would be an absolute disaster.

A real thumping of Inter Leipzig with 3 goals a gashed head and a substitution in 40 minutes for Mac Allister. A further 2 goals from Grassi, and one from each of Leontjev, Poirier, Janicki and Alves.

View attachment 94600
A nice draw for the champions league, as top seeds go you can’t do much better than Club Brugge.

View attachment 94599
A really tough start to the season, away to Bayern. It proved just too much for us, although we were a little unlucky and neither side would be too disappointed with a draw.

View attachment 94598
We were the big story of the transfer window, but not for the right reasons. We spend E103m but we made a E152m profit in the window.

View attachment 94597
We bounced back in our second derby in as many Bundesliga games. Kuqi coming off the bench to win us the game.

View attachment 94596
An exciting start to the champions league, and a win in what is most likely going to be our toughest match. A real tactical battle here.

View attachment 94595
This is as good as I have seen Dortmund play whilst I’ve been here, scary good. Let’s keep it up. Goals from Grassi (2), Leontjev, Benner, Janicki and Mac Allister.

View attachment 94594
Another solid win and clean sheet sees us continue our pretty good start to the season.

View attachment 94593
A tight match but a really good win as Hamburg have started really well and were top going into this match.

View attachment 94592
I made 9 changes for this match as I considered it our easiest of the group and we have a game against Wolfsburg coming up. A 41st minute red card for debutant Angel made it a much tougher game that I was expecting.

View attachment 94591
A pretty good start. Wolfsburg kicked off with two draws which means we are top for now, but they are right on my ****.

A routine win, a clean sheet too.

View attachment 94586
A good performance against the actual strongest side in the group (after us) from a second string side.

View attachment 94584
A run out for the second string again, and a good performance again.

View attachment 94583
A good start, defeats to Bayern and Wolfsburg but all wins aside from that. We keep the pressure on Wolfsburg both in points and goal difference.

View attachment 94571
A good win here and we looked really good when we got going. Herrera is doing a really good job as a ball winner in midfield and with Mac Allister we have a real top striker and a decent free-kick taker too.

View attachment 94570
Not to be out done but the first string our reserves but on a good show in an effort to stake a claim for a starting spot.

View attachment 94569
Wolfsburg played first and dropped points, unfortunately we weren’t able to captitalise…

View attachment 94568

Disappointing result this, Cantu ballsed up for their goal but it was fortunate too. Just to remind us we are in a fight Wolfsburg beat Schalke 6-1 away.

View attachment 94546
A bit of a struggle but reserves maintain our 100% record in the champions league, seeing us qualify as top seeds.

View attachment 94545
A good draw in the Champions League, possibly the best we could have had? Anyway, a nice opportunity to make it to the next round.

View attachment 94544
We gave Bremen a bit of a tonking here impressive as we went a man down at 1-0.

Another absolute destruction in the Bundesliga. Serves them right for trying to go 433 against me Mac Aliister either scored or assisted all the goals today.

Twice in a row now for Cantu.

One of the names always in the discussion for player of the season in the Bundesliga the last few seasons, Murat Esroy, arrives from rivals Schalke for an initial fee of E35m possibly rising to E46.5m. Capable of playing on the right left or up front, he will provide competition for all 3 places.

We didn’t need to sell anyone but Poirier wasn’t getting game time as it was, so I thought I might as well cash in on him. To get E22.5m for him is pretty decent too.

We bagged the bargain signing of fellow Welshman Brian Veale for E6.75m as his contract is up at the end of the season. He comes in as replacement for current backup centre-back Hubert Malkowski who has asked to leave.

Confirmation of Malkowski leaving for E11m with a younger centreback of similar quality coming in for almost half the price and considerably lower wages, good business in my book.

Not particularly impressive in the winter friendlies, but I was using the games to build the fitness of players needing it.

A huge win this, my first against either Bayern of Wolfsburg. It sees us maintain our lead at the top of the table.

A really tough game this was. I thought I’d ballsed it up after going counter at half time to protect our lead. I went back to normal control after they equalised and Grassi bailed us out.

Table stays as is.

A pretty routine win here with some familiar names on the score-sheet. Marcelo got himself sent off again on the 75 minute but we were never threatened even with 10 men.

Some gentile rotation for the cup game. Debuts for Beale and Esroy, unfortunately Esroy went off with a twisted ankle in the 10th minute, having arrived with an injury this was the first time he could play. Unfortunate for him. To accommodate Esroy I moved Mac Allister to attacking midfield just to have a look at him there. Didn’t do much, not figured the role out there at Dortmund.

Easy draws for both us and Wolfsburg in the cup.

Wins like this are becoming very routine now, dare I say, a little like the title winning side with Wolfsburg. The last time we conceded more than a single goal in any competition was against Wolfsburg 21 games ago, we’ve only conceded 7 goals in that time.

Still solid at the back but without the cutting edge here, disappointing dropping points.

Same again in the champions league. It’s the away leg so not the end of the world but we have to be better at home.

View attachment 94482
It’s the big one, and it was another big result. Perhaps a title decider, a little early for that maybe. We came from behind again here, and it was the 433 with us looking much better with this formation against Wolfsburg.

The win against Wolfsburg sees us go four clear at the top. A good few games left to go yet but looking in pretty good shape.
