A chance to give the second string a run out against second division Hannover. A good solid win, as expected of us, sees us into the semi-final.

View attachment 94479
The draw for the semis sees us avoid Wolfsburg. I see Koln as a winnable game.

View attachment 94478
We absolutely took Frankfurt apart. Mac Allister was his usual brilliant self, but Janicki’s performance was also notable in this game.

View attachment 94477
Second game in a row we scored 7 goals. All the sweater with Wolfsburg only managing a draw.

View attachment 94476
Happy with the result and the performance and we’re into the quarter finals.

View attachment 94475
And would you believe it. It seems mine and Wolfsburg’s destinies are still intertwined as we face them in the semi-finals.

View attachment 94474
Not the most exciting game but a win, and a win important ramifications…

View attachment 94473
…we’ve guaranteed champions league football for another season, early on in the season too.

View attachment 94472
A decent old budget for next season.

View attachment 94471
More importantly we have broken Dortmund’s record for games without defeat.

View attachment 94470
Went one game too far here. Another solid win and it’s raining steam achievements over here. That’s 30 games without defeat now.

View attachment 94469
Top of the league and 11 points clear. You can see from the for column that Wolfsburg have been dropping points left right and centre. Four more wins should do it.

A poor performance sees us drop points and Wolfsburg gain ground.

View attachment 94426
Taken apart by Wolfsburg, I chickened out of playing the 433 and regretted it. The scored their second from our first shot on target. Shot saved, out to Russo, dribbles down the right, crosses in, goal.

View attachment 94425
I played the 433 for this as practice for the second leg of the Wolfsburg game where I have to go for it. We were just terrible today, wasteful in front of goal and easily beaten.

View attachment 94424
I think my reasoning was sound, the performance was just bad.

View attachment 94423
We were better but in reality it was over when they got their first. This is going to mean trouble now…

View attachment 94422
View attachment 94421
To keep these two at the club I promised to win the champions league. Now that can't happen those chickens have come home to roost.

View attachment 94420
Apparently they have been unfairly treated and I’m facing a full scale squad revolt. It’s going to take all my man management nous to get out of this without bottling the title.

View attachment 94419
Morale has clearly seeped into the performance as we were ****** awful. Tom von Ahlen got himself sent off but we still managed to equalise. They broke our hearts late on. I’ll nurse the players through this though.

View attachment 94418
We got ourselves a win here, just about. Heap on the praise, make them feel good.

View attachment 94417
Still top, it’s tighter than I would have liked though. Morale is up to OK now.

Looking a little more like our old selves here. A potentially vital win as Wolfsburg dropped points.

View attachment 94415
A disappointing result this, especially as Wolfsburg won.

View attachment 94414
With the pressure on we really delivered with a huge win in the Borussen derby. With Wolfsburg winning it was enough to see us clinch the title.

View attachment 94413
That title now sees me take my place as the best Welsh manager of all time. One of the easier milestones to reach truth be told with Toshack the only competition. Breaking into the top 10 managers in Germany would be the next step.

View attachment 94412
Final game of the season with nothing for the team to play for but some individual accolades up for grabs…

View attachment 94411
View attachment 94410
…fair play, both Mac Allister and Cantu broke their records. Mac Allister’s 40 goals in a season is a Dortmund record, and Cantu’s 22 clean sheets in the league is a Bundeliga record and 26 in the season is a Dortmund record.

View attachment 94409
From a 10 point deficit to a 5 point lead is a satisfying turn around.

View attachment 94408
A tasty chunk of prize money.

View attachment 94407
Christ Wolfsburg just have my number. We were by far the better team but El Amrani was unbeatable. Another German cup final I’ve lost, 0% record.

View attachment 94406
The season’s best 11 is easy enough to pick as the side has been very settled all season. When fit this 11 played, and there was very few injuries.

View attachment 94405
Benner wins player of the season again – the fans love him. Surely Mac Allister should have won it? Goal of the season for Peruzzo, Leontjev gets signing of the season which is a relief, and Dedic gets young player of the season – no arguments there.

View attachment 94404
Looking at the stats shows why I feel Mac Allister should have been player of the season. Top scorer – Mac Allister with 40 goals, most assists – Mac Allister with 22 assists, most man-of-the-matches – Mac Allister with 9, and highest average rating – Mac Allister with 7.67, player of the season without doubt. Herrera was great winning the ball and keeping things ticking over with 91% pass completion. Marcelo has been a bit of a liability at left back, the defensive side of his game is lacking causing us problems and getting him booked a lot.

View attachment 94403
A clean sweep for our front 3 in the footballer of the year awards, 56 goals and 41 assists between them.

View attachment 94402
Not quite a clean sweep in Player’s player of the season.

View attachment 94401
League top goal-scorer for Mac Allister, 3 ahead of 2nd.

View attachment 94400
View attachment 94399
Hardly a surprise if I say so myself but Manger of the season and Player’s manager of the season goes to me.

View attachment 94398
View attachment 94397
Leontjev, Veidamenidis, Mboyo, Dedic, Grassi and Mac Allister make it to both the team of the year and the player’s team of the year.

It got a little tight towards the end there but 5 point margin is a fine outcome. How did Wolfsburg do in the Champions League?

Congrats on winning the league! Unlucky with the cups, how did Wolfsburg end up in the CL?

Thanks guys, I really thought I was going to lose it when it all kicked off after the Champions league exit. Wolfsburg were knocked out in the next round to eventual winners Barcelona, tree below. I've got some revenge in store for Wolfsburg for that debacle, they were trying to sign my two best players Dedic and Mac Allister all season, I'm going to see how they like it.

Pre-Season

View attachment 94281
With all the money coming in from player sales it’s hardly a surprise that the club made a big profit last season.

View attachment 94280
I’m not getting it in the neck as much as I thought I would selling fan favourite Benner to Wolfsburg. Could still have contributed but got his wages off the book and got a few million for him too.

View attachment 94279
The reason Benner was sold was I brought in a new centre back, and it’s an Earth shattering transfer in the Bundesliga. One of the best centrebacks in the world arrives from Wolfsburg for E82m. It was his release clause and it’s a lot of money, but for me it’s a double whammy as it strengthens me and weakens my closest rival Wolfsburg.

View attachment 94277
City came in and met Cantu’s release clause, so naturally I went and matched the release clause for El Amrani. He’s better than Cantu stats-wise, but E40.5m for a 30 year old ‘keeper is a little more than I would normally spend, but most of the money came from selling Cantu and as with Medina it weakens Wolfsburg.

View attachment 94276
Veidamenidis was sold in the wake of the mutiny he and Alves caused last season that could have cost us the title. It was a struggle to find a replacement, this is the best I could do. The E40.5m price-tag is more that I would have liked to pay, but he is the closest I could find to Veidamenidis and the money was there from the Veidamenidis transfer.

View attachment 94275
Veidamenidis goes to Spurs for E55m, could have got more if he hadn’t have forced the move. Interestingly Spurs also sign Bayern’s best player.

View attachment 94274
Alves leaves for E24m which is a bit of a bargain and should do well for them. Dedic is well in front of him and there are some players in Dortmund 2 able to replace him.

View attachment 94273
Here’s the Cantu transfer it came as a bit of a surprise as I missed the message for the initial bid so I had a **** of a shock.

View attachment 94272
The Medina transfer is a Dortmund record and the most expensive fee for a Mexican player too.

View attachment 94271
A routine set of pre-season friendlies. Lots of goals against opposition maybe a little too easy.

View attachment 94270
German super cup sees us go up against Wolfsburg and Mac Allister wins us the match and the trophy.

View attachment 94269
Unsurprisingly short odds for Mac Allister to win top scorer.

View attachment 94268
Again, Mac Allister favourite to win player of the season. Dedic makes it onto the list too.

I've never played FM17 myself (still on 16 and I only buy every other year) but it definitely feels like it's easier for players to pick up the "world class [position]" tag in FM17 than previously...

That said, those are some excellent players and astronomical fees.

I agree with you mate, got world class players coming out of my ears over here. I've had quite a lot of players go from leading to world class, not sure if that is because I tend to go for younger players. I don't usually spend as much as I have on this save. I don't usually get my players poached so often though. I've been feeling for a while that the AI is unfairly targeting me.

Second string with a big win in the first round of the German Cup.

View attachment 94189
El Amrani was out injured for this match having picked up a few small knocks since arriving, a few players have had injuries this pre-season. The first goal for them came from a Medina mistake, hopefully something we won’t see too often. We manged to get the win in the end though.

View attachment 94188
This time it was El Amrani’s turn to make a mistake. This one cost us the game. The forwards are almost as much at fault for not breaking down RBL.

View attachment 94187
A reasonable draw Utd. will be a challenge, the other two should be beatable. Not a group for the second string though. I will have to put more thought into my squad rotation this season.

View attachment 94186
A real easy win this one.

View attachment 94185
An OK start to the season sees us 3rd, but at this stage that doesn’t mean much.

Wolfsburg with another 100% record, albeit early doors... you've created a proper monster there

Trying my best to take them apart. I like to see my old teams do well but not at my expense.

Mac Allister and Esroy are both amongst the favourites for top scorer in the champions league. Two thirds of this list are players I have signed at some point.

View attachment 94034
A big, big win this and I am delighted with it. Pleased to see their ‘keeper weak on most of the goals. Grassi walks away with a hat-trick and man-of-the-match.

View attachment 94033
First game of the champions league, a lot of rotation and it took a lot longer than I would have liked. But I know well how tough Kobenhavn can be. Nice to have a trip back to Denmark.

View attachment 94032
Leverkusen have had a strong start to the season, still, it’s disappointing not to win this one.

View attachment 94031
A good response though. My biggest league win, poor old Dusseldorf. Goals from Dedic (3), Grassi (2), Janicki, Esroy, Kuqi (2), and Mboyo. Everyone getting involved in the rout.

View attachment 94029
Not quite the heights of the last game but a good win still. A rotated side played in this one with Utd. on the horizon.

View attachment 94028
Big game this one and I am delighted to come away with a win. We’re in a good position in the group now.

View attachment 94027
Up to second now, with Wolfsburg top. Look at that goal difference though. Thanks Dusseldorf.

View attachment 94025
A 100% record in the champions league sees us top of the group.

Absolutely dominated Freiburg which is becoming the norm for almost all league matches now.

View attachment 93971
Solid away win against Stuttgart.

View attachment 93970
Lots of rotation and we annihilated Basel away from home.

View attachment 93969
Rotated side again but this was a lot more of a struggle. Still, we did enough to get through.

View attachment 93968
Another hammering, we’ve scored 26 unanswered goals this month. Players were queuing up to get a goal in this game Mboyo (2), Medinia, Leontjev, Mac Allister (2) and Grassi all scored.

View attachment 93967
We’re now top thanks to our monstrous goal difference.

View attachment 93966
We’re yet to concede in champions league so far this season, all smooth sailing so far.

View attachment 93965
Another almost all Dortmund team of the week. I have a feeling it was against Koln last time this happened.

Wow some very impressive results there. Here's hoping you keep it up!

Cheers mate, it's getting very easy in the league now, hopefully I can do something in the Champions League for a change.

I picked up the parked the tank steam achievement after this match. That’s 10 in a row without conceding. I’ve used 3 different goalkeepers in that run too.

View attachment 93907
A less exciting match but we were still able to dominate, we even prevented them from having a shot on target.

View attachment 93906
A good win this, with a pleasing amount of domination over Bayern with a tired side, and another clean sheet…

View attachment 93905
…which is a Dortmund record of 12 games.

View attachment 93904
A rotated side ended the run of clean sheets but the wins keep rolling in. Kobenhavn managed to bean Utd. in their last match in the champions league too.

View attachment 93903
Another league clean sheet against Hertha. I think it will only be by virtue of missing so many games with little injuries that El Amrani wont break Cantu’s clean sheet record.

View attachment 93902
A little bit more of a gap opening up at the top of the table. Still very early doors though.

View attachment 93901
Disappointing to have conceded a goal, but our 100% win record in the champions league this season is still intact.

View attachment 93766
A brilliant performance here at Old Trafford. Janicki was outstanding today.

View attachment 93765
Disappointing this one, not sure what went wrong. One of those things in a derby.

View attachment 93764
Brutal draw in the Champions league sees us face Real Madrid in the first knock out round.

View attachment 93763
Rotated side does well against Augsburg putting us into the quarters.

View attachment 93762
In the quarter finals we’ll play Schalke away.

View attachment 93761
A real tonking here for Hoffenheim.

View attachment 93760
We go into the winter break with a 6 point lead over Wolfsuburg. Only cost E122.5m.

View attachment 93759
Gouveris handed in a transfer request and as soon as I had the message through I went in with a E56m bid for him, which I think is a bit of a bargain. It’ll be a bit of a juggling act in the midfield now, but in a good way. I’m leaning towards Hererra ball winner, Gouveris playmaker and moving Mboyo to attacking midfield. He can’t be registered for the champions league so that will help with rotation.

View attachment 93758
For some reason I was surprised by this, I must have blocked out those fees in the summer.

View attachment 93757
**** of a debut for Gouveris. He made a mistake which cost us a goal really early on. But he made up for it. He scored a wonderful long range effort from outside the area to equalise, then scored the rebound after a wondersave of his penalty. He was named player of the week too.

View attachment 93756
Terrible performance but we scraped a win against 10 man Schalke. I’m writing it off as Derby nerves and a tired team with so many game in quick succession.

View attachment 93755
This was a mental game. Like our old selves going forwards, keystone cops at the back. Entertaining game mind. Dedic is having a Bale at Tottenham season, hattrick and two assists today.

View attachment 93754
We extend out lead over Wolfsburg with them dropping slightly more points than us over the month.

View attachment 93644
We beat Wolfsburg by a familiar scoreline, this time with only 10 men. This is the first time I’ve played them where they’ve put out an unfamiliar side against us.

View attachment 93643
We find it really hard against Schalke for some reason. Perhaps it’s just a derby thing because they aren’t having a great season. Elsewhere Wolfsburg were knocked out by Freiburg.

View attachment 93642
Looks a decent draw to me but let’s not underestimate them, they did knock out Wolfsburg. Looking at the teams left in the competition you’d fancy our chances, but I was in a similar situation in the Danish Cup a long time ago now and failed.

View attachment 93641
A very much rotated side played this game with a big champions league tie coming up in the week. It was a good performance from the team that played showing good strength in depth.

View attachment 93640
A real tough match this but you would expect no less. I’m very happy to come out of it with a draw and 2 away goals. It’s a decent position but anything could happen in the next leg.

View attachment 93639
A stronger side went out in this match, with Mac Allister back in the side after injury, and to be honest he’s having a poor season. He was good today though with 2 goals, which is good to see. I’ve decided to change the complete forward to advanced forward to have them get forward more and give more space to the attacking midfield advance playmaker.

View attachment 93638
We end the month with a 9-point lead. I’m very happy with how things are going this season. Say it quietly but the double is on this year.

Despite dominating the game we were unable to break Freiburg down, doesn’t bode well for the cup game.

View attachment 93528
Back to business as usual with Esroy leading the way. With Mac Allister having a tricky second season which has seen him play quite a lot in attacking midfield, Esroy has established himself as the number one striker.

View attachment 93527
A brilliant result this. We made it look quite easy against a good side. We’re into the quarter-finals, which sees us meet the boards expectations this season.

View attachment 93526
Happy with that draw as we have beaten them twice this season already.

View attachment 93525
With lots of games the side is being rotated a lot. We did what was needed here, just about.

View attachment 93524
Which sees us grantee champions league football again next season with 7 games to go.

View attachment 93523
Not the biggest budget but the finances are bad again (I wonder why). Nice quiet summer hopefully, as the team is looking good.

View attachment 93522
Final game of the month is the first leg against Man Utd and it was easy. We’re in a good position going into the second leg, it’s away but I would be very disappointed to go out now.

View attachment 93521
We only need 12 more points to win the league with 7 games to go.

Thanks neavie pops it's shaping up to be a fine season.

A rotated side played again today with the second leg during the week. It was a good performance from the side and decent win against a side we seem to do well against.

View attachment 93415
A tougher match at Old Trafford, as to be expected. But as soon as we scored the away goal I felt we were through.

View attachment 93414
Not a bad draw, Bayern knocked out city, I feel we can beat them so I’d like to see them knock out Chelsea too. We have to navigate Juventus mind, who dominate the Serie A, as you would imagine. I’m really not sure how good they are, but they can’t be bad to have got this far. Still, a good chance to go all the way this season.

View attachment 93413
Back to the league with a win for a stronger side as we edge closer to back-to-back titles.

View attachment 93412
A full strength side played today but didn’t look very good. We just about had the best of it but we came away with nothing from the match.

View attachment 93411
A better performance in the cup against Freiburg and we’re into the Final which will be a derby against BMG.

View attachment 93410
Champions league again in the weak so we played a weaker side in the league. It didn’t look like we were going to get through so I had to bring the big guns on towards the end, Esroy, Grassi and Mac Allister, Esroy got 3 goals to win it with assists from the other two.

View attachment 93409
That result was enough to bag us our second consecutive title with 3 games to spare. There are records on the line but I think those games will largely be a chance for the second string with two more trophies to play for.

View attachment 93408
Not surprised given some of the wins we’ve had this season. Still 3 games to go so plenty of chance to score a few more yet.

View attachment 93407
Typical Italians, they came here with the game plan to bore us to death. We just couldn’t find a way through their 6 man defence.

View attachment 93406
Good performance from the seconds, lead be Gouveris who is cup tied for the champions league.

View attachment 93405
Only two games left. We’re on to score the most points in a season since the save began (current record 87) and beat the club record of 84 points in a season. Two wins would put us just 1 point behind Bayern’s 91 point Bundesliga record.
