I started a new save and went with Barca, mainly as I'd always avoided playing them as everyone else was. So far is good, got through preseason and have played 10 games so far. Only bought in Alaba and Maupay and looking at Kara.
So is more of an update as to how the results have been.. Screenshot of games played so far.

Well Barcelona - RMA they will all do good - I feel though Barcelona is really tailored for this due to their great wingbacks as well. Highest recommendation I can give you is Kara - he got supernatural powers as a right central defender - I feel Barcelonas defence is the weak points - So Smalling - Dede - Kara - Mangala - Strandberg - Caulker - Agger (sell him a season later-not good enough) - Midfield Barcelona Iniesta and Xavi getting on and you can get lot of money for Iniesta and get some fresh motivated talent in their - Koke - Pogba - Eriksen - Wilshere - these are ultimate signings top of the list CMl/r.
anchormen Busquets is nice, but I find Sven Bender - Stambouli and Wanyama to be top of the line priorities.

WBL you already got what you need if you have Alaba and Alba + you have a young player named Grimaldo - He's very talented and will become amazing in the future.
Strikers - Messi SCR He takes Penalties - corners and freekicks for me - he obviously is irreplacable and shall play 98% of matches in SCR position - In my current game he has 63 assists and about 50 goals - I also use him as a tutor for both Neymar and Maupay 2 times - Neymar SCL - He doesn't get as much playing time as he really deserves, but he always play on a high level when he plays so he's a keeper and for me the closest to a Messi when Messi retires - L.Suarez SCL (goal average a goal a game - I'm planning to sell him, but he's amazing) - He's injured for 9 months and that gives room for all the other strikers and I can see easily that he can be replaced by the names also mentioned - Suarez is still an amazing player, but you won't need him if you have Neymar-Maupay and Lukaku - for me its an easy earning of 46m pounds selling Suarez - Maupay SCL (My goal is to train Maupay untill he has 20 technique - I use the Trequartista schedule- If you want a little more Lukaku will become a goal machine and atleast as good as Suarez.
In the youth ranks I don't feel you have good enough strikers, but some does have a little bit potential, but not good enough for Barcelona - Regents will take over this entire section in a short time - so many strikers will be available to you if you do your ground work. I don't think Munir is good enough in FM13 - You have 1 very special talent playing CM and CAM very high flair player I think he's loaned out season 1 - what is his name? lol - He will be the next Messi if trained correctly - the name is
Alen Halilovic - I can also recommend signing Hachim Mastour simular to Halilovic - it would be amazing to see the future Barcelona team playing with these 2 in the starting eleven. Oh and when we talk talent I have to mention Andrea Petagna - he's a great striker talent from AC Milan. Simone Scuffet from Udinese looks to be a godlike goalkeeper for the future - we have talked about him before. Hervin Ongenda the striker can develop in to something of a beast as well, but you already know that I believe.
My personal favourite of ingame talent is Neal Maupay - I feel their is nothing like him and he will become the best striker in the game before the regents starts to arrive.
Your results are decent - especially the ath madrid away was a great result - it will take some time to get the team gel up, but once its there - you will be very unstoppable and I feel the football being played is breath taking at times - I really enjoy that.
If you can train your wingbacks ppm's to run with ball through centre and cut inside - it enhances their performances greatly.
The same goes for any striker train run with ball through centre and cut inside - I strongly believe these will give you more goals. Place shots over shot with power - ahh I'm not sure about this one - maybe leave this one alone - Messi function very well with place shots - in another save I had an african player who had shot with power and he scored the most amazing goals and many 50-70 goals a season. I have seen Maupay score amazing goals without the need of a shot ppm. If your striker is creative try and train killer balls - its very much worth it - Messi in my current game a great example of that.
Koke and Pogba should probably have shot with power coming from behind makes that really lethal - while someone like Halilovic probably should have place shots. Also don't underestimate the power of the ppm prefer to pass the ball instead of shoot - I like that ppm for your midfielders especially the very creative ones.
Cross ball to the other side great for wingbacks and midfielders highly recommended, but doesn't hang on the trees. Try long passes aka Pirlo is another great ppm that can give clear cut chances in a flash - highly recommended, but some of these can't be trained and rather have to be learned. Curl ball is highly exaggerated not as good as i thought.
Smalling left central defender pairing up with Kara. Not many good wingbacks in the game, but the ones mentioned in this post means serious business. Neur - Ter stegen best goal keepers in the game - right after them comes Courtois and he will become as good as them. Scuffet has the potential to make them all look like fools

Sorry about the long post - I'm excited that you play with my tactic so I felt I wanted to give you a few pointers in return - I remember you were very happy with the original Gooaall262 I hope this edited version will give you even more. I hope you will give it a few seasons because reality is you need to get your team set meaning signing all players you want to go forward with then get them to gel then win everything and enjoy it with loud shouts that will scare the old lady with a handbag next door
