PORTSMOUTH 1-1 NEWCASTLE UTD

Newcastle came away with a point today thanks to an incredible strike from Fode Mansare. With Newcastle staring at another defeat, the winger collected the ball out wide, skipped inside Tommy Smith, then nutmegged Michael Brown before beating young Portsmouth 'keeper Liam O'Brien from 25yards. This was after a 55th minute strike from Ghana's Kevin-Prince Boateng gave Portsmouth, who are suffering off-field trouble, the lead. It was a typical match between two clubs in the bottom 3, and suffering from bad form. The result now leaves Newcastle, in their second season, bottom of the Premier League with 2 points from 6 games.

BOTTOM PLACE HAS FANS ANGRY!

Great Story! Keep it up looking forward to how you progress :)

BIRMINGHAM CITY 2-0 NEWCASTLE UTD

Birmingham City took advantage of Newcastle's dismal form by dumping them out of the League Cup. Newcastle started well and Jamie O'Hara, playing a central role, tested Ben Foster. Javier Chevanton then tricked his way past Scott Dann to again test Ben Foster. In the 35th minute, last seasons summer signing Clint Dempsey beat Steve Harper to a low George Boyd cross, to give Birmingham a lead against the run of play. Half time was approaching when winger Fode Mansare, who recently signed a new deal, came close to restoring the parity but Ben Foster showed why he is so highly-rated. In the 53rd minute, George Boyd doubled Birminghams advantage with a curling effort which went in off the far post, and was easily a contender for goal of the round. The last 20minutes was all Newcastle, but Mchedlidze, O'Hara, Bradden Inman, and Steven Taylor all missed chances to score. But Birmingham progressed to make Newcastle's so far poor campaign, even worse.

FOLLOWING CUP EXIT, CAN TOON BEAT LIVERPOOL?

Liverpool make the trip North today hoping to add to Newcastle's woes. bottom club Newcastle are highly unfancied today, and surely nothing short of a Liverpool win is expected. Jose Enrique is fit again and replaces Ludovic Baal, Manuele Blasi serves the second of his 2 game suspension, so misses out as does Andy Carroll who is still not quite 100%. Liverpool are fully fit.

NEWCASTLE UTD 1-0 LIVERPOOL

Deafening roar erupted inside St James' Park today as Newcastle registered their first win. A surprisingly even first half was an enjoyable watch, as both Dirk Kuyt and Fernando Torres came close for Liverpool. While at the other end, Javier Chevanton, having a unusually quiet season, brought out the best in Pepe Reina. Man of the Match Steve harper pulled off a world class save just after the break, when a vicious Joe Cole hit, was screaming into the top corner, only for the Newcastle keeper to amazingly tip it away for a 'Pool corner. Nigerian Obodo was then taken off by Newcastle and replaced by Bradden Inman, who immediately played in another substitute, Levan Mchedlidze, on for Chevanton, and the Georgian beat Reina with a deft chip. St James' Park went wild as Newcastle hung on for a much welcomed 3 points, and arguably result of the day. "Outstanding, a bit of hard work, and a ton more belief, and look what we've achieved" said Evans.

ASTON VILLA 2-1 NEWCASTLE UTD

Last weeks performance against Liverpool wasnt quite matched today, but Newcastle still played well at a drenched Villa Park. Newcastle made a change in defence with Coloccini missing out and Mancienne switching across, with Gosling filling in at Right back. Villa took an early lead through tall striker John Carew, who controlled a ball from Cuellar on his chest, before spinning and beating Harper at is near post. After some pressure, Newcastle won a corner, swung in by Kalou was headed home by another former Chelsea man, Michael Mancienne for his first Newcastle goal. Chances were created at either end for Milner, Ashley Young, and for Ameobi at the Villa end, but Nathan Delfouneso stole the show with a lovely finish, in which his low shot nutmegged Steve Harper and gave Villa a win, which takes the gloss of last weeks Newcastle win v Liverpool.

NEWCASTLE UTD 0-3 CHELSEA

A young strikeforce for Chelsea saw off Newcastle on a wet and breezy Newcastle afternoon. It was the 4th minute when Blues' young Argentine headed in Chelsea's opener from a wonderful Bosingwa cross. Relentless Chelsea pressure told in the 25th minute when Daniel Sturridge slotted home goal number 2. Half time couldnt come early enough for Newcastle, but after the break normal service resumed, as after 15minutes, Franco Di Santo scored from 18yards with a right foot drive. Newcastle were finding chances few and far between and the best fell to Javier Chevanton, but the strikers lack of confidence told as he scuffed his effort. To make things worse, Fabricio Coloccini saw red for a tough challenge on Yossi Benayoun.

NEWCASTLE UTD 1-2 BOLTON

Pressure further grew on Newcastle manager Evans today following another defeat. Newcastle will feel all the more upset due to the fact that they were 1-0 up. That goal came from Javier Chevanton who finally broke his duck for the season. But within 60seconds Kevin Davies beat Steve Harper to level it up. 10minutes were remaining when Davies showed his skill by volleying past Harper to send Bolton 2-1 up, and a chorus of boos was heard around St James' Park. Newcastle almost levelled in the 91st minute but a Coloccini header was cleared off the line by Ivan Klasnic. Evans said "im feeling the heat, i wont lie, its hard and we need to shape up, we cant afford relegation, its too costly"

BURNLEY 2-1 NEWCASTLE UTD

Evans' stint must surely be nearing an end after another defeat to Burnley. Chris McCann and Anderson Silva put Burnley firmly in driving seat, before Peter Lovenkrands gave Newcastle hope. However, poor finishing and a seemingly lack of idea saw Newcastle lose yet again.

TOTTENHAM 2-1 NEWCASTLE UTD

Unlucky Newcastle Utd lost their 5th straight match today after going ahead v Tottenham. The game came to life on the hour mark, thanks to Nigerian Christian Obodo slotting a right footed shot past Gomes. Gomes then pulled off a magnificent save to deny Kevin Nolan, playing a new attacking midfield role, after the Scouse midfielder run onto a loose ball and hit a first time shot from 18 yards. 87 minutes had passed when Robbie Keane, scored from an acute angle to level the match up, just moments after Huddlestone smashed Newcastle's crossbar. Then, with injury time almost up, Jermain Defoe broke Toon hearts with a pacey run and finish.. just as Newcastle looked happy with a point. Evans' wouldnt comment on reports that a loss today could see him leave.

CHAMPIONS MAKE LIGHT WORK OF NEWCASTLE

NEWCASTLE UTD 0-3 MAN CITY

Newcastle Utd were soundly beaten by Manchester City 3-0 today, thanks to an Emmanuel Adebayor hat-trick. The first was a header from a corner, which he headed downwards and then hit the roof of the net. His 2nd was a first time right footed strike from a Carlos Tevez pull back. David Silva hit the post for Man City, but the rebound landed straight to Adebayor who netted for his hat-trick. Shola Ameobi tested Given, to no avail. And some nice interplay in the midfield was about all else Newcastle fans had to cheer about

STOKE CITY 0-1 NEWCASTLE UTD

At last! 3 points for Newcastle Utd, at a tricky away venue. The Britannia fans were taunting Newcastle at first claiming they were already relegated, but they were soon silenced after 7 minutes as Peter Lovenkrands beat fellow Dane Thomas Sorensen with a left footed drilled shot from 12 yards. Stoke rarely threatened in truth and Newcastle could have added to their solitary goal, but Jamie O'Hara and Kevin Nolan were denied by Sorensen. Tuncay and Moussa Dembele wasted decent Stoke chances, but a fair result in the end. Can Newcastle finally build a run of results?

WEST HAM 1-2 NEWCASTLE UTD

West Ham lost to Newcastle as the Magpies won their second game on the spin. Returning left back Jose Enrique lashed Newcastle ahead with a quality curling effort, showing why he has been a big miss while injured. Ex-Portsmouth striker Frederic Piquionne equalised with a good finish, although Harper should of done better, as should Steven Taylor who was turned far too easily on the edge of the box. The centre-back soon made amends though, as he rose highest in the box and thumped a header past Robert Green. Evans said "I hope we can build on this, 2 in 2 is a decent way to start, a loss in form again is devastating for us"

NEWCASTLE UTD 1-0 LEEDS UTD

Another morale boosting win for Newcastle against newcomers Leeds Utd. Local lad Andy Carroll was the hero as he swept home a left footed shot to ease the nerves of the home crowd. With Leeds posing little threat, Kasper Schmeichel was the much busier 'keeper keeping out Lovenkrands, Nolan, Inman and Mancienne in a Man of the Match performance. With Newcastle fans singing "We are staying up" surely there is every chance they are getting a bit ahead of themselves.

Another point for Newcastle against Everton, who to be fair didnt deserve a point. 7 minutes is all it took Andy Carroll to head home for 1-0. 15minutes passed when Newcastle had a penalty, after Jagielka hauled down Lovenkrands. The penalty was taken by Jose Enrique, but howard pulled off a great save to keep it at 1-0. But 5mins later - another header, another goal - this time from Steven Taylor off a Ryan Taylor corner. Straight after half-time, Everton's on-loan star Mario Balotelli brought them back in the game, before levelling matters in the 88th minute with a scrappy goal. Newcastle are now 4 unbeaten.

NEWCASTLE UTD 3-2 WEST BROM

Newcastle's mini revival continued today with a narrow win v West Brom. Kevin Nolan put Newcastle ahead, hitting home from a loose ball in the box. As the match entered its 20th minute, Graham Dorrans levelled with a freekick which was sweetly struck past the diving Harper. However 5minutes later Newcastle were 2-1 up with a Fabricio Coloccini penalty, sending Carson the wrong way. It was a dubious penalty as Mansare seemed to dive. Andy Carroll made it 3-1 with a thumping header from a Bradden Inman cross, the local lad's decent form continuing. West Brom had St. James' Park on a knife edge following their goal, a penalty from Simon ***, this time a stone waller. Dorrans and Slory played a nice one-two and as Dorrans went to shoot, Steven Taylor cut him down with a fierce sliding challenge, and *** made no mistake.

WIGAN 0-1 NEWCASTLE UTD

Newcastle win again? Yes they do. A great display, especially in midfield, made light work of Wigan. Nolan and O'Hara gave Diame and Watson the runaround all day, and full time couldnt come soon enough. The goal came in 47th minute through Uruguayan Javier Chevanton with a scissor kick. A corner from Gosling, was headed up in the air by Alcaraz, and the dropping ball bounced once, before Chevanton's class put Toon 1-o up. Nothing short of what they deserved, as Newcastle continue their decent run. Kirkland kept the score respectable with saves from Carroll, Obodo and Nolan, but Martinez will be disappointed with Wigans display.

BLACKBURN 2-2 NEWCASTLE UTD

A 6 minute cameo from Salomon Kalou, put Newcastle 2-0 up. His first was a slip from Nelsen which saw Kalou race in on goal and slot past Robinson. The second was great skill in midfield from Blasi, who played it out to Gosling to sweep in a great cross, which Carroll nodded down for Kalou to sidefoot home. Harper pulled off a great save at his near post to deny Kalinic, who posed a threat all game. 5minutes after the break, Croatian Kalinic's threat told, as he scored from 8 yards with a nice finish, and with 15minutes left, a great Vince Grella tackle saw the Oz star pass to Kalinic, who turned Coloccini, before squaring for Hoilett to level up. A long Gosling punt upfield almost fell kindly to Newcastle aster Robinson dropped the wet ball, but Samba hoofed it out of touch to make sure of a 2-2 draw.

NEWCASTLE FACE LUTON IN FA CUP

The FA cup kicks off with Luton facing Newcastle, who are heavy favourites. Evans confirmed fringe players and some reserves will get their chance to impress.

NEWCASTLE UTD 5-0 LUTON

A superb performance, albeit against lesser opponents, saw Newcastle breeze into the next round. There were starts for Tim Krul, Yohan Benalouane, and Ryan Donaldson and all majorly impressed. Newcastle opened the scoring after 6minutes with a Salomon Kalou placed shot from 10 yards, which opened the floodgates. Number 2 came after 17minutes when a super Benalouane pass found Mchedlidze, who laid off Donaldson to smash home from 20 yards, and celebrate with enormous delight at his first senior goal. 3-0 was 4minutes later, as Kalou again scored, this time from a Dan Gosling cross. Georgian star Levan Mchedlidze hit home number 4 with a open net to roll the ball into. A Inman pass, found the Georgian who side-stepped the Luton 'keeper, and then couldnt miss. Kalou wrapped up his hat trick with 2minutes left, to make it 5-0 with a simple tap-in after great Ludovic Baal work down the left.

OUSTANDING RESULT!

NEWCASTLE UTD 3-0 MANCHESTER UTD

Amazing result for Newcastle today, and thoroughly deserved. Fans must of feared the run would against Manchester Utd, but Newcastle were the better side. Within 2 minutes, Andy Carroll wrong footed Van Der Sar to put Newcastle ahead, and the place erupted. Harper was hardly tested, other than a Wayne Rooney chip which was easily caught. With 15mins left, and Newcastle fans hurrying the clock down, Salomon Kalou got goal number 2. A shot from Kevin Nolan parried by Van der Sar and he made a great double save as he blocked Manuele Blasi's follow up, but the 3rd time Kalou beat him and Newcastle were on course for result of the season. Guaranteed pandemonium at St James' Park came when Andy Carroll slammed home goal number 3, a fizzing shot from 20 yards going in off the post, seemingly taking a slight deflection off Rio Ferdinand. Evan said "I am buzzing with joy, this is what we work hard for, to give the fans this after the season we've had speaks wonder for our work rate and desire"

NEWCASTLE SUPPORTERS CELEBRATE THUMPING DERBY WIN

Newcastle absolutely tore Sunderland apart today with some stunning football. With 10minutes gone, Jamie O'Hara curled home from the corner of box to make it 1-0, much to the delight of the away fans. Salomon Kalou, who has hit some good form recently, made it 2-0 after 16minutes with a tap-in from Andy Carroll's knockdown. Craig Gordon kept it at 2-0 as half time approached, and 3-0 almost came when Kevin Nolan missed from inside the box. With 54minutes played, it was 3-0 as Kevin Nolan made amends for his shocking miss, to bury Sunderland, and make sure it was a Geordie day on Wearside. 10minutes later Sunderland fans began to empty the stadium, as Andy Carroll headed home from Dan Gosling's cross and celebrated with the Toon supporters. Humiliation was complete on 86minutes as Kalou rolled home a penalty, to send Newcastle fans wild with sheer delight.
Newcastle boss Evans said "Im absolutely thrilled. Performance of the season, inline with our 3-0 win against Manchester Utd i'd say." Evans also confirmed recent reports that Carroll was the subject of a rejected £7m offer from Burnley

Newcastle Utd were denied a win today by a 93rd minute Chris Baird header. Kevin Nolan put Newcastle 1-0 ahead with a well timed effort, before Christian Obodo cleared a Zamora effort off the line. Right on half-time, Nolan got his, and Newcastle second by beating the offside trap and slotting the ball under the onrushing Schwarzer. However, 5minutes after the break, fulham were right back in it, thanks to Baird's first strike, a low drive from a Zoltan Gera cut-back. A disgraceful offside call ruled out Zamoras header, which would of made it 2-2, before Bairds injury time header did equalise the game.

He collected a Christian Obodo pass, played it up to Carroll, whos great hold up play and lay off, enabled Wilshere to smash home from 25 yards. It was a fantastic start to his Newcastle loan, showing why Bolton tried immensely hard to sign him. After half time Newcastle gave themselves a nice cushion with a second goal. This time Ryan Taylor got the assist with a whipped corner, which Carroll nodded home. 3-0 came with 20minutes left, Peter Lovenkrands collecting a loose ball, skipping past his marker and his outside of the foot shot, just crept past Mark Ridgers in the 'Pool goal.

TERRIFIC NEWCASTLE RUN COMES TO AN END

ARSENAL 3-0 NEWCASTLE UTD

Arsenal deserved this win tonight as Newcastle didnt pose much problems. Apart from one Andy Carroll strike and a half chance for Lovenkrands, it was all Arsenal. A 35th minute strike from Bendtner was the opening goal, leading to an onslaught at the Newcastle goal. 15minutes from time the result was secure with an amazing 30 yard hit from Andrei Arshavin, to which even he was surprised went in! After 1 minute of injury time, Samir Nasri shot through Harpers legs to make it 3-0 and end Newcastle's excellent recent revival.

NEWCASTLE UTD 2-2 ASTON VILLA

Unlucky for Newcastle Utd with this result. A 3rd minute penalty gave Georgian Levan Mchedlidze the chance to score, and he made no mistake. And following a few Villa chances, the 65th minute saw Mchedlidze score again, and seemingly end Villa's hopes of anything. That was until Agbonlahor left Gosling, making his first start for a month, for dust down the right hand side and crossed for Carew to power home a header and make it 2-1. Then, with the home fans singing their way to 3 points, Gabby Agbonlahor's pace proved costly again as he raced past Steven Taylor, and lashed home to drown out the home side with frantic away support cheering

A replay is called for at Old Trafford following 2 mins of madness at St James' Park. Newcastle played well and had many chances. Kevin Nolan testing Van Der Sar, aswell as Carroll and Steven Taylor. With Man Utd starting to get a grip of things in last 15mins, a goal seemed likely, and it came with 2 mins remaining as a punt downfield by Van Der Sar was headed behind by Gosling. The resulting corner was then headed in by Dimitar Berbatov, and Newcastle heads dropped. Newcastle kicked off and substitute Jack Wilshere took on 2 men before playing in Jamie O'Hara, whos through ball was smashed in by Andy Carroll, and the place went wild. NEWCASTLE UTD 1-0 BURNLEY

Following the disastrous Bolton display, Newcastle made up for it today with a win over Burnley at a wet St James' Park. With Levan Mchedlidze making a rare start, its he who grabbed the winner in the 83rd minute to spare Newcastle's blushes. With O'Hara and Blasi dominating midfield, chances were scarce for Burnley. Brian Easton came closest for them, but his shot was tipped over by Harper. With Wilshere also playing well, Burnley's defence were constantly on the backfoot. A sour note for the home side was another red card for Manuele Blasi, to which Evans commented "We had a similar situation with Steven Taylor last season, if Blasi wants to escape punishment, he needs to cool his temper"

The left-back with a far post tap-in after Drogba flicked Lampard's corner on at the near post. It could have been 2-0 soon after, but Steve Harper saved with his legs from Daniel Sturridge's effort. On the stroke of half time, it was 1-1. Newcastle counter attacked, and Salomon Kalou rifled the ball under Petr Cech, silencing the home fans. HEARTBREAK FOR NEWCASTLE

GUTTED NEWCASTLE CAPTAIN STEVEN TAYLOR AFTER O'SHEA STRIKE

Newcastle were unlucky to be dumped out of the FA Cup tonight in their replay with Manchester Utd. After Mexican Javier Hernandez gave the home side a 3minute lead, Newcastle must have thought they were in for a hiding. The striker controlling well and firing home from Scholes' pass. On 20minutes though, Kalou scored again, this time nodding in from a Ryan Taylor set-piece. With Berbatov hitting the post, and Harper saving well from Rooney and again Hernandez, it seemed it was a matter of time before the home side scored. But, with 6minutes left, Andy Carroll powered home from 10 yards and the Toon support went crazy, while Fergie was fuming on the touchline. With Newcastle fans singing "We're gonna win the cup" Rooney silenced them, with a lovely one-two with Ryan Giggs, he then skinned Steven Taylor and planted a sweet shot past Harper, 2-2. Extra time beckoned, until a Manchester Utd corner, swung in by Valencia was headed in at the back post by John O'Shea, to send Utd fans into a frenzy, and leave Newcastle fans shellshocked.
"I'm proud of them all, they deserve a massive pat on the back, another excellent display" said Evans

NEWCASTLE UTD 0-1 TOTTENHAM

It was a case of coming back to haunt your former club today, with Jonathan Woodgate heading home the winner. Newcastle pressured for long periods, and Chevanton came close with a effort from 18 yards. But, with a Aaron Lennon corner, Woodgate leapt highest and headed past the wrong footed Harper. With Defoe and Keane wasting further chances, Newcastle were confident of a point, and Bradden Inman blazed over from a good position to confine Newcastle to defeat.

MAN CITY 2-1 NEWCASTLE UTD

Man City showed why they are current champions today with a determined performance. They took the lead when Newcastle went down to 10 men, with Nolan seeing red, Gareth Barry then converted the resulting penalty. Levan Mchedlidze hit the post before showing why hes such a talented prospect. After colelcting the loose ball, he skipped past Barry and De Jong, before taking on Micah Richards and whipping in a stunning cross which Carroll converted. But from City's next attack, they won it. A cross from James Milner hit Caicedo's shoulder, and the loose ball was lashed in by Kompany, and Mancini's men picked up the 3 points.
