Two losses during the final period of the league, But all in all a very solid 15 games from us to close the season.

We have finished 2nd in our very first season in the top flight, An astounding achievement for us. Qualification for the champions league and a fantastic footing for a full blown title challenge next season.

We also saw out the group stages of the Europa League.

We should of put the Werder Bremen game to bed by a far bigger score, But 2-1 it finished and we clocked up some more points.

OM are another who we should of beat by a far far bigger margin, Alas it wasn't to be. We won regardless 2-1 again.

Sturm Graz actually put up the best fight in the group, But we slid in 3 goals. 3-1 it finished and 6 wins from 6 for Sibir.

Our reward for topping our group was a trip to Portugal to face Braga.

Sadly this was as far as we went, 3-1 on aggregate it finished and we went crashing out of the Europa League.

Not much needed doing to the squad but 3 areas are being strengthened, and IMO will let us take that final step.

Another defender to replace one that refused to sign a new contract, he has skirted the edge of the russia squad a few times and I expect him to show that quality here.

I feel we now have a team more than capable of beating even the best Russia has to offer. Further to that capable of beating them well, My aim is nothing less than the title this season, with the champions league as a nice little distraction.​

I couldn't quite believe it either, That said my 3 best players were all released by Zenit!
 
We opened our Champions league acount by beating Fenerbahçe in there own stadium 2-1. Sharing a group with Manchester United we really need maximum points from the other games, so this was an excellent start.

Nothing quite so enjoyable was to follow. Losing 2-0 at home was fully deserved and we were lucky to keep it at 2-0!

It got even worse when we played United at Old Trafford, They spanked us 3-0.....

Luckily we proved we still had it when we got Fenerbahçe at home, Easily killing the game 4-0.

Before the conclusion of th league I want to update both cups we are in, Starting with the champions league.

We drew Juventus in the first knockout round, We couldn't of started with a better result if we had wanted to, 4-0. This was swiftly followed by 2-2 in Turin to see us through easily 6-2 on aggregate.

Man Utd in the quarter final was my nightmare draw. They continued there superiority over us 2-0 and 3-0 again for a crippling 5-0 aggregate humilation and crashing out we went.

Wow, could not believe that Benfica went so low and try to recruit you!! Shame on them...

Swedish, Greek and hopefully, Russian champion, and an Europa league, not bad at all for a guy with almost 80 years old. Whats next? Maybe Italy and try to manage Milan with a 50 years old squad?

That Anji are stubborn, being the only team to beat us the second half of te season, We did take them apart in the cup final so fair is fair! 13 wins from 15 is certainly champions form.

I'd wager Benfica are in love with me! I've had maybe 3 times as many offers from them as i've posted up.

Russian championship has now been won, Next is Portugal then I do have an idea for carrying on after the champions league, But more that at a later date ;)

Bah they got lucky, me and my new Potuguese power house will soon sort them out!

My quick scan through reveals a combined World cup and Euro qualification points total of 25. It was a quick scan mind.

This is the club previous season before I arrived. Relegated to the Portuguese third flight, After some of the worst runs of form I have ever seen. Here are the full seasons results and the league table.

A whole raft of players leaving which freed up a huge chunk of wage budget, then all the relgation clauses kicked in freeing up more. This let me sign the players I feel we needed for a full promotion challenge.

Our friendlies have gone well, Morale is creeping up and we should be in a good position to challenge Benfica B for top spot.

We were more than a little patchy at the start of the season, 7 games with no real consistancy. Then we strung together 7 straight wins and found our legs in this league beating even Benfica B.

We sit second 7 points off Benfica B, We somewhat closed the gap by beating them but let ourselves down with the 0-0 against Juventude.

In the ffirst round we genuinley dismantled Grijó, The perfect response to Grijó's 4th minute goal.

Yes he is, i'm surprised anyone noticed that!

One promotion down one to go then just the small matter of a champions league.....
