Jamie Carragher - A Managers Story

Another big win from us! Negredo finally got the hat trick he has been waiting for all season! We moved the ball around well and took our chances well. We need to block out the careless losses and get results like this when playing away from home!

A mixed month really, we played well in 4 out of the 5 games. We also won the games that mattered in the league as we were already comfortable in the Europa League. Here is the league table at the end of the month:

Again we are sitting in 3rd, only 6 points behind top of the league Barcelona. It's pleasing to be this close to the top two. You know you're not going to top them two in your first season here but to be this close a third into the season is a positive start!

This really is a month where I believe we should be winning all of these games. Depending on the form of the other teams in and around the top 4 we could break away with some space!

Villa set for Valencia Return?

Today David Villa has emerged as a shock transfer target for former club Valencia. Villa has not enjoyed life much in the MLS as he has publicly stated the quality of football is not a high enough standard for him. When speaking to a journalist Villa told them that he would be open to a return to Valencia as he has been enjoying watching their form this season. This could be a good move for both parties as Villa certainly still has the quality to play as a bit part player and fans are already on the back of second striker Bas Dost at Valencia. Although Villa would have to accept that he would be playing second string to the in form Alvaro Negredo if any deal was to go through. It is thought that the 34 year old would be able to leave his current club for as little as £1 million.

"Carragher: I would welcome Villa return."

Yesterday Valencia were heavily linked with a move for former player David Villa. The striker had expressed his desire to join Valencia for the chance to end his career on a high in the club he owes so much to. Villa is currently not happy with the quality of football where he is playing and would be open to leave for a bigger club. Jamie Carragher fuelled the rumours as he was full of praise for the Spanish International claiming he was “One of the best strikers in the world on his day”. Obviously times have changed and it is not David Villa’s day anymore, but the world knows that you do not lose that eye for goal. When asked about Bas Dost’s recent poor form and whether a move for Villa would be a good idea Carragher responded with:

“Personally I think Bas hasn’t been doing as bad as people make out. Negredo is well on form so yes it is hard for him to get into the team. I’ve played him in Europe mainly this season and off 5 starts he has managed 2 goals, it’s not like he hasn’t scored. If I want to sign David Villa it will have nothing to do with Bas Dost’s form”

Although Carragher was typically defending his own player, it is hard to see past why David Villa would be a target if they had 2 in form strikers. It would be a fairy-tale story if Villa came back and helped Valencia hold the top four spot, and possibly even go further in Europe. Villa scored 108 goals in 166 games for Valencia before leaving for Barcelona for €40m in 2010.

Another comfortable win which would see us go top of the group if Braga lost to Torino. Dost silenced many critics by bagging two goals and Gomes continued his goal scoring form for the season!

Torino did it! They beat Braga 2-0 and sent us through as group winners. My first 6 games in Europe go unbeaten! I have always had a good record from my playing days but who knew I would carry it over to the management! Most of this group was played with a weaker team too, brilliant results! Can't wait for the draw now!

Frustrating! We could have put a nice little gap of points ahead of us and the Champions League places but we just could not score again! Hopefully I can get the lads confidence back up and get them scoring. We're going to need all the points we can get in this league.

I may be wrong, but it doesnt seem like anyone is interested in this story anymore. I dont know if its because of the club or the story line? Should I carry this on or would anyone like to see a similar story form what I did last year with Wrexham? If you haven't seen it here it is:

Could I please have some feedback as to whether to carry this on or not, writing all of this out seems pretty lame if people are not reading it haha! Thanks, Jamie.

nice story going on here mate, ive been busy so not been able to catch up with it and hopefully see a David Villa return!

It was all looking so good until he demanded 105k a week, and a 20% yearly wage rise.... Cheers man

Just because your not getting replies doesn't mean people aren't reading this story look at your views between your posts!

despite you supporting liverpool, i still follow your story. Always look for yours to see if its been updated. Love the story and keep up with the constant updates!

Mate, this is the most viewed story on FM BASE, of course you SHOULD carry on, even as a Man United supporter I find this story quality.:D

Literally just read through all of this, by far the most entertaining story i've ever seen on this website. Sometimes people don't want to disrupt the flow of the story by posting opinions, but trust me we're all loving it and want you to carry on!

Been following this from the start. And as a die hard LFC supporter, I really want to see more! Wouldn't mind seeing a Gerrard story after his retirement either! :)

Thanks for all the support lads! Didn't realise so many people were into this! I will be carrying it on :) Watching Liverpool later and praying we win so not 100% if I will post tonight! My laptops still not 100% so it's a bit hit and miss! I haven't played in a few days so I think I will have a good couple of hours on it tonight providing the laptop doesnt run slow! Thanks again :)
