Jamie Carragher - A Managers Story

This is not the first time I have joined a rival to club I have already managed, but this is much tougher. Newcastle have found themselves in the Vanarama conference and have gone into administration. The club are seriously on the back foot but I'm willing to turn their fortunes around. This is a short term contract so if it proves and impossible task, I've already spoke to the owners and they understand if it doesn't stick out.

They currently sit 18th in the league and are hoping to avoid their fourth relegation in a row.

After taking the job I have now seen what's happened to Newcastle and can only assume that it is a glitch. Which is a slight shame as I wouldn't have taken the job knowing this. They seemed to plummet £1 billion into debt, and have now balanced the books. I'm just going to play like that hasn't happened I suppose! Anyone seen anything like this before?

The club don't have as many trophies in the cabinet as some would think. But they are still a massive giant in terms of reputation. I would love to get them back to where they belong, but even I think it could be too much of a job.

Love it Mr Williams!! You made the right choice!

I seem to remember saying Charragher should take over Newcastle and take them back to the Prem about 30-40 pages ago, to which you told me that would never happen lol

Haha quote me on it!!!

Playing my first game now! Not my usual standards :P Looking forward to seeing if I can actually get them back to the top level!

Newcastle are currently in the bottom half of league 2! No thanks :P

haha! I hope you can get us back to where we belong! never seen Newcastle decline so much before and that huge chasm in their finances is ridiculous.. has to be a glitch!

So glad you're doing Newcastle! Was horrified to see you take over at Sunderland when you did! Can't believe what's happened to them!

Yeah it looks like a glitch! Pretty impossible to go up and down in finances like that!

Haha! Yeah I think the games glitched because something does not seem right with the whole situation? No other club has anything like that either!

My time at Newcastle is too be cut short. While looking into my tactics for my next game, all of my players had been vanished?

On the transfer history they've all been given free transfers? So there is definitely a glitch with Newcastle. Looking back through their transfers this has happened every season. So that was short lived! hahah, will be on the look out for a new job again :P The only 6 first team players I now have are on loan? I've never seen this on FM before, but for some reason the club is cursed!

It could have been a good challenge! Maybe Newcastle should just look at doing a bit of 5-a-side now!

Newcastle mess continues

It seems that the problems at St.James Park are not over. Newcastle United have released all of their first team squad with immediate effect. Manager Jamie Carragher has also stepped down from his role, stating there is nothing he can do to help this club.

"I really wanted to give this a go, so did the players. We'd won our first 3 games, good results too. I'd spoke to them about the future and I had a good feeling about things. We all know the finances arent the best at this time but what they have done is not the answer. The only chance of the club getting money in is promotion, and these lads definitely had it in them under me."

Newcastle had won their last 3 games under Carragher, and played some impressive football in his short spell at the club. They will go on to play their U21s side in the league for the rest of their season, the former manager hasn't kept quiet on his opinions on that either.

"They'll get relegated. I'd looked at the younger lads to see where we were up to, and with no disrespects none of them were any better than Sunday League. I've got no sympathy for the club either, you can;t treat your players and fans like this."

Carragher was so angry with the decision taken by the club that he has give every player £10,000 each while they are looking for a new club. A gesture seen kind by the footballing world. We spoke to Alan Shearer about the gesture.

"It just shows what a nice guy he is. He spoke openly about money not being an object from the start, and to do this shows how much he really does care about his players. He will find a new job in no time."

It's tough to take for Newcastle. They went through a rollercoaster of emotions with Mike Ashley and waned him out of the club, but most fans would probably take Ashley's situation back in a heartbeat after recent years.
