Jamie Carragher resigns as Valencia Manager

View attachment 304069
Jamie Carragher has resigned from his managerial role at Valencia not even a month after he won the Europa League with the Spanish club. Rumours are that the Valencia board grew frustrated with Carragher after he declared interest in two vacant managerial roles, Bayern Munich being the first after they sacked Pep Guardiola. The second is the vacant job at Liverpool after Brendan Rodgers left on a mutual agreement as he felt he had taken the club as far as he could. It is thought that Carragher is favourite for the Liverpool job. When asked about his departure from Valencia Carragher said:

"I would like to thank the fans for this amazing season I have had as a manager, I've won my first trophy and I'm proud that I did it at this club. But most importantly I could not have done it without the players that I was managing. You know I had the highest scoring striker in the world last season in Negredo and the rest of the squad were outstanding too. I'm sorry to leave but this chance doesn't come too often, and if it means me falling flat on my face if I don't get the job it's a risk I'm willing to take. I'm sure everyone in football will understand I'm Liverpool through and through. And this really would be a dream come true for me. Thanks again, Valencia CF."

It is now a waiting game for Carragher to see whether Liverpool will offer him the job. It is thought that the two are in talks with each other, he's shown real passion and commitment towards how much he wants the job by resigning from his old post so he will be hoping he can get it.

Interesting twist in the tale, I'd love to see you (Carragher) manage Liverpool!

Liverpool finished in the top 4 last season which means this will be his first season in the Champions League as a manager. Hid first task will be keeping Steven Gerrard at the club as rumours suggest that he is retiring. Carraghe made 508 appearences for Liverpool in his playing career and will hope to make as many for them as a manager.

Jamie's back! Great initial transfers. 16m for Mignolet? What a great deal I feel. What was the squad makeup right when you took over?

Can't believe Liverpool signed the one and only Wes Foderingham - I was always expecting you to return to Liverpool, great twist in the story. How have Liverpool performed in recent seasons?
