Jamie Carragher - A Managers Story

Pre season is all about fitness for me and I wanted a few new players to gel. I'm pleased with what I saw. I know that Monaco were the only real competition but the passing play was good and the pace of our play was brilliant.

I'm pleased with the signings I have made, I've tried to get some youth in as well as two big signings from Madrid who are still relatively young. I sold some deadwood and allowed a few promising players out on loan again. The disappointment of the market for me was Origi leaving but I couldn't do too much about that. Here's a look at August's fixtures.

A tough opening game but one where I really could set down a marker and show this League we are ready for a title challenge. Q.P.R away is a game we should win, but we need to establish some form before I can assume which games are easy and which are not.

What a win! That will certainly help me get some backing from the fans. Sturridge was the man of the show as he terrorised Kompany all game. It was a good debut for Gabriel Barbosa as he netted from the spot after Zabaleta took Sterling down in the box. I was surprised by the effort's from Kieran Gibbs and he really looks like someone I would like to make part of this squad if he plays like that every week!

A great team performance today to see us beat QPR 6-0. Phillip Coutinho was rested and I opted for Sturridge upfront over Barbosa. Markovic came in on the right and delivered superbly. Sturridge grabbed another brace too and he looks like a man possessed after these first couple of games. I'm looking to drill this winning mentality in our heads and get this club right on top where it should be. It's a big ask in my first season but I have laid down a strong marker.

Two big wins this month. One was big because of who we were playing and the other was just a thrashing. The perfect start to the season has happened. Now to build on that, after August the table looks like this:

After the two wins we finish the month top of the league. Early days to be excited about anything but it's always nice to be there. I've always said from any moment when you are top of the league the league is in your hands, you make your results.

Barcelona in the Champions' League! I get them every year..Did on my Tottenham save this season coincidentally!

A few more transfers towards the end of the window. James Ward-Prowse came in on deadline day to bolster our midfield options. We now have Coutinho, Henderson, Can, Allen, Ward-Prowse and Isco who can play there which is great for us.

A tough month with some big games in there. I face former club Tottenham at Anfield and then we travel to the Nou Camp. Villa and West Ham are no easy games away and we all know what Chelsea can be like under Mourinho.

Haha it's horrible! Hopefully we can show Suarez what he is missing, but knowing him he will score against us!

I've not even heard of a few of your signings, are any of them regens or am I just un-knowledgeable lol

A nail biting game which ended up with us on top. I rested Sterling and Coutinho as they had just been on international duty and regretted that decision. Raheem was brought on at half time and Coutinho for the last 20, they turned the game around by causing problems. Isco was on another level too. 4 wins in 4 so far.

We may have lost, but we we're incredible. If it wasn't for some amazing saves from ter Stegen I think we would of got something there! Sterling had a goal disallowed in the 91st minute which got everyone off their seats, but I'm happy with that performance. There was a funny moment in the first half where John Flanagan took the ball off Neymar and as Messi and Suarez ran to him to get the ball he knocked it in between the two of them and ran off! Flanaldinho!

A solid win which sees us through to the next round. There were only a few starting XI players on the pitch for us today, and they did make the difference by adding goals.

This sees us face Everton in the next round. A Merseyside derby in the cup is always a big occasion! Let's hope we win!

Looks like the move to Liverpool will be a success for you mate! brilliant start to the season and unlucky against Barcelona!
