Jamie Carragher - A Managers Story

View attachment 249058
The club asked me to resign, and I felt that I had too. Over the last few weeks I've been getting so much abuse by everyone involved in football. I've received death threats and so have my family. It might be time to call it a day. I haven't stayed at a club for a full year since Dortmund, and haven't really achieved much since either. My managerial career is at an all time low right now. I have completely lost all respect from everyone in this industry. I don't think I will ever get another job in football again.

Is this the end of my favourite story??? Hope not...

It's been 2 months now and I've applied for a few jobs, no one will have me. I've been wrongly accused of treating Fitzgerald how I did, I wasn't fair on him, but the facts were I didn't know about his mum, and it wasn't me who transfer listed him. I even applied for the job at Bolton who are at the foot of league 2, and they turned me away. Every time a club is interested in me they just receive backlash from the fans. I can't get a job anywhere in this country, hopefully I will get a chance abroad to build my reputation up again, otherwise it will be the end for me as a football manager.

I just hope that the truth comes out one day about Fitzgerald.

Honestly can't get a job anywhere at the moment! :P

:O What a twist!!

A few too many lately, need to get myself at a club where I wan't to stay at, if only Liverpool would have wanted me!

Some nice few updates here, looking forward to seeing what happens to Carra next!

Cheers mate, so am I as I don't have a clue right now :P

It had been 3 long months now, and I just couldn't seem to get a job anywhere, my reputation was shattered and everything that I had build on was destroyed. I'd made my decision, I was retiring from football management. I'd told the wife and kids, that was that.

I was preparing a statement, one last one which I would openly talk about what happened with Fitzgerald. I was writing it in the office room at home, and then the phone went off, it was Ellis Short, the Sunderland chairman. I had a lot of time for Ellis even though my time at the club was short lived, he supported me through the points when I wasn't a good manager.

JC: "Hi Ellis, how are things?"

ES: "Jamie my friend, not good. You've seen how bad it is haven't you? I've just got rid of Peter and I need someone to keep us up. Do you want to give it a go?"

JC: "Well, I was about to announce my retirement from management, it's not working anymore."

ES: "Don't be soft. Tomorrow at Piccalino's 6pm. Be there Jamie, we can discuss our options."

Was this my ticket back into football management? If I mess this up though that would surely be me done, I've been relegated with this club before, I don't know if I could do it again.

I'm pretty happy with the squad Sunderland have. I will be linking up with Daniel Sturridge for the third time at a club, which is something I'm pleased with because he's always performed well for me. James Wilson and Connor Wickham are also good options upfront. The first job I did here was make Jack Rodwell captain. He's been at the club now for 8 seasons and I feel he is the right man to take the armband.

The club enjoyed it's best time in the 30's. I'm committing myself to Sunderland now because they have picked me up when no one else would. Hopefully one day I can bring the glory days back here.

But right now those days are far off. My first task as Sunderland boss will be to keep them in the Premier League and if I wanted to do that I had to pick these lads heads up. Playing football is hard if you aren't enjoying it. I'm about to make sure these lads do.

I have a very generous start to my second spell here, and we are in the last 32 of the Europa League, if I can pick their heads up and get them playing, I will look to push us as far as we can in that competition, but I'm mainly aiming for survival in the League.

As I stepped on the pitch all I heard were boo's from the Sheffield Wednesday fans. I was still a man who was hated around the country for something Martin Skrtel did. Unfortunately it's something I'm going to have to take on the chin for now.

This was exactly the game I needed to start with. Sheffield Wednesday have only picked up 6 points in 25 games so beating them wasn't going to be the hardest of tasks. It was no surprise to me that Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring and I knew from then on it was going to be a good day. James Wilson proved why he should be main man up top with two great finishes.

I brought on Aquino towards the end as he's been on the transfer list. I just wanted to see where he was at in terms of his desire to play. It's the beginning of February so I cannot get rid of him, and after this performance would I want to? He scored two goals in 30 minutes and looked really comfortable on the ball. You need some experience to keep you up and he might just help us.

Look at Sheffield Wednesday!! Europa League latter stages and League Safety would be huge, definitely capable of more though

This season is all about staying up, anything else is a bonus for me. But next season I will be looking to push on. In the back of my mind I'm hoping a good run in the Europa League could lead me into the Champions League next season, wishful thinking but not impossible!

everton lost their first place without you

Good. I am allowed to hate them again now I don't manage them :P

Loving the twist, Good luck at Sunderland

Thanks mate, I owe them one after last time!
