Yeah switching players are recommended if they are able to play in different positions. I'm switching my Kadlec and Valdez in ST and AML position. THat confuses the defender sometimes.

Thanks for the input on direct passing. Can you give a screenshot on the passing style only of the team?

Sure, here are some screenshots. Oh I see I forgot to mention, I have set team philosophy to very rigid. Oh well, the team screenshot is below. I got some more tweaks on the players, but that's mainly focussed on the player.

Dude you beat Barca, twice! :D
Very nice indeed. Glad it's working out well for ya

Due to my individual settings, very rigid and balanced philosophy doesn't really causes a lot of different. Mainly only the positioning of the midfielders are switched up a bit.

Definitely you've done your job in tweaking as I assume it fits to your team really well.. Any inputs you would like to give? :D
 
I know I mentioned this before, but I'd like to change it slightly. Starting Strategy changed from Attacking to Standard both home and away is working really well for me in addition to drilled low crosses.

Also I'm finding that the team has to warm to you and the tactics a lot more than FM10.

I'll keep playing around and post any discoveries. I'm currently in Feb 2011 with Spurs, I've just beaten Man Utd to reach the League Cup final, I've qualified for the knock out stages of the Champions League and am 6th in the league.

Oh and Sissoko works brilliantly as the left centre mid.

I've tried you're tactic many times in the game with rsc anderlecht but i allways lose or draw,never get a win and the opponent has much more chances and possesion than me

My team
Proto
Yakubu Juhasz Mazuch Deschacht
Kouyate
Biglia Kljestan or Maracek
Legaer or Kanu Boussouffa
Lukaku

Even against the little teams i draw or lose and their chances are like 18-8

I don't know what i do wrong

ive changed to drill crossing, made my team play narrower and slowed the tempo and it seems to work ok. Just beat ipswich 4-0 with leeds and I am 3rd in the league, not bad.

Take a look at your player instructions. Are you sure you've set the right guys for the right job? The striker isn't a goalgetter, which Lukaku is, really. It's the player who organises the attack. In your case you might want to set his status to finisher or something like that. Just tweak it to your needs mate and you'll be just fine.

Does changing to standard affect your scoring ability?
I've always been a fan of scoring a lot, with no concern of being conceded 1 or 2 (or someties 3) :D

Yes, the adaptation in FM11 is more complexm especially if you are managing a top level teams. Usually the players lack motivation.

Okay sorry first of all.

Honestly I'm not familiar with most of the players other than Lukaku and Yakubu.
What I can spot right away is Lukaku is not the type of striker who fits with this tactic.
The frontman need pace and agility to past defenders - qualities which Lukaku doesn't have. He's more of a targetman striker.

You might need speed in your team as well. If you already have, especially on the wings, then ignore this.

I am actually scoring a considerable amount more since switching to Standard, though I'm not 100% clear as to why just yet! I have a fairly weak back line at the moment through injuries and players who have not yet come out of their shell, so I'm conceeding 1 most games. However, I'm pretty confident a good backline would have a ridiculous amount of clean sheets at the end of the season!
 
I'm testing it right now with Birmingham,did only 2 matches,gonna post results after the 19 matches from the league.

Oh wow that is awesome.
I'm into second season so I'm gonna try to adapt my team to play on stadard mentality as well as suggested.

Hopefully it'll fix the leaky defence will maintain the scoring ability of the tactic.

I'm playing with sc Heerenveen now, The tactic skill is just decent and I managed to win a 3 in a row already. It looks good, I tweaked it a little to suit my players and I play on rigid and direct. So far so good :)
