Last Striker Standing 2018 - TEAM UPDATES!


1. Brane Ormso - 57 Games, 36 Goals, 3 Assists, 1 WC Goal - 155 Points
Where in the world did this season come from? Ormso as surely secured himself as the best pure goal scorer in the history of LSS!! Banged in 26 goals in the premier league alone to secure his third golden boot in various leagues. It's almost as if he knew it was a World Cup year and banged in the goals for Arsenal in order to force himself into the English national team set up. Was part of the England team that exceeded expectations by finishing third and even scored a late 115th minute equalizer for Arsenal in the Round of 16. Led Arsenal to a double of the Europa league and the league cup along with a mention in the premier league team of the year.

2. Daniel Porter - 62 Games, 33 Goals, 2 Assists - 134 Points
This is probably the strangest thing I have ever seen, despite scoring 33 goals for Leicester along with 18 in the premier league while finishing as the 4th top scorer in the entire league, Daniel Porter did not make the England squad for the World Cup and is still yet to make an appearance for his country. Led Leicester City to a FA Cup final and scored a goal in the 3-1 loss to Chelsea. Ironically, Porter signed for Chelsea late in the summer for a 110 million!! Surely if he scores for Chelsea, he'll get called up for England? In theory.

3. Shane Tracz - 45 Games, 25 Goals, 2 Assists, 1 INT Goal, 3 WC Goals - 130 Points
Shane banged in 19 goals for Southampton in the league while finishing as the third top scorer in the league. Continued his form for England in the World Cup with three goals and two coming in the third place 3-1 triumph over Mexico. Shane was the name on every big club's wish list after an impressive world cup campaign. Ultimately chose to sign for Manchester City for a club record 106 million transfer! Can he do it for Manchester City, with the best of the best?

4. Simon Medina - 43 Games, 24 Goals, 8 Assists, 2 INT Goals - 112 Points
Simon Medina lived up to the huge price tag after all! Led Leipzig to their first ever Bundesliga trophy! Finished as the second top scorer in the league and was named the Bundesliga player of the year! However, Simon was very disappointing for Argentina at the World Cup as they crashed and burned out in the Round of 16. However, the season he had with Leipzig as cemented him as one of the very best in the world, is a Ballon'D'Or potentially in his near future?

5. Sven Jensen - 50 Games, 15 Goals, 4 Assists, 5 INT Goals, 3 WC Goals - 108 Points
Sven had a breakout season for Tottenham and Denmark. 8 total international goals on the season is a highlight of how effective he was. Led Denmark to the quaterfinals of the world cup and even scored the equalizer in the eventual 2-1 loss to Mexico.

6. Hugo Caldeira - 48 Games, 19 Goals, 2 Assists, 5 INT Goals - 98 Points
Hugo did well on loan at Villarreal, finally got the playing time he deserved and responded with a great season in Spain. Did not have a great WC for a Portugal team that was unlucky to lose on penalties to England. Will be interesting to see what Monaco chooses to do with their young talent.

7. Rasmus Nybo - 43 Games, 13 Games, 3 Assists, 6 INT Goals - 79 Points
Decent season for Bournemouth leading up to the world cup, unfortunately could not do enough to get Norway to the world cup although he did all that he could. Signed for Atletico Madrid for 60 million soon after the season ended and will now look to bang in the goals with a much improved producing cast.

8. Edan Laffoley - 44 Games, 16 Goals, 3 Assists - 67 Points
Edan did well for Leicester but was in the shadow of Daniel Porter for a large part of the season and that cost him as he could not further add to his 1 England national team appearance before the season and did not make the world cup squad. However, with Daniel signing for Chelsea, Edan will be hoping Leicester spend the money on a better midfield to help give him more opportunities to bang in the goals as the new number 1 striker.

9. Dickie Davies - 34 Games, 8 Goals, 1 Assist, 7 INT Goals, 1 WC Goal - 65 Points
Was not overly impressive for Tottenham but more than made up for that with the South Korean national team. Did not make it out of the group stage with South Korea but more than impressed as he led South Korea to 4 points in the group of death that had Mexico, Germany and Uruguay also in the group. Will look to now repeat his national team form for Tottenham.

10. Arnold Schwarz - 22 Games, 11 Goals, 2 INT Goals - 52 Points
A very very very strange season for Arnold. Started the season at Bayern as they chose not to send him on loan but had only played 9 games for the team by the time January came around. But the 4 goals in 9 Games was good enough for Manchester City to sign him for 89 million! 89 million for a guy who had not done much at that point in the season. Responded with 7 goals in 13 games for Manchester City for a guy that is now the most expensive German transfer of all time. Unfortunately, Austria did not qualify for the world cup. Will Arnold lead up to the price tag with Shane also in the squad now?

11. Kono Yukinari - 23 Games, 5 Goals, 2 Assists, 4 INT Goals, 1 WC Goal - 46 Points
Kono was mostly a backup striker for Liverpool but did take his opportunities for the national team. The US did not make it out of the group stages of the world cup but did manage to grab a goal. Kono will have to improve on his club form if he hopes to survive next season.

12. Loki Thorsson - 24 Games, 6 Goals, 2 Assists, 3 INT Goals, 2 WC Goals - 46 Points
Spent the entire season at Monaco and did well as a back up striker for the team, will be concerned about his place in the team with Hugo Caldeira returning to the club after a successful season on loan. Loki will be happy he played well for Denmark at the world cup as they went all the way to the quarter finals including 2 goals in a 5-1 round of 16 demolition of Senegal.

13. Holdma Deek - 21 Games, 4 Goals, 2 INT Goals - 24 Points
Last place by quite some margin. The elimination had be coming for quite some time. Got the loan move he needed at Getafe but could not score the goals, Iraq also did not qualify for the World Cup and that cost him.

Should have picked a 2nd nationality with San Marino, I surely would be a legend for them by now!
Massively happy with how that season has gone though!
 
Weird year! At least that +10CA might help me grab a startling spot for City!

Where did that season from my Brane Ormso come from! Not complaining mind, nice to see him make the step up from the lower leagues and not getting recognition from the England set up.
 
not sure how Dickie will do at Spurs with the other 2 strikers they have, here's hoping he keeps banging them in for Korea

1. Brane Ormso - 52 Games, 36 Goals, 5 Assists, 7 International Goals - 177 Points
Brane looks to be running away with the competition after another incredible season. No doubt in my mind, he is the best pure scorer to have ever come through the LSS. Finished with 25 goals in the league on route to winning another premier league golden boot. 7 International Goals on the season and is now clearly one of the names on the England team sheet but can he continue his incredible form?

2. Arnold Schwarz - 36 Games, 21 Goals, 13 International Goals - 132 Points
Arnold jumped from 10th to 2nd largely thanks to his improved playing time at Manchester City on the season. With no Lewandowski type talent on the team, Arnold as come into his own as a number 1 striker. The true beauty of Arnold's form though was with the Austrian national team as he scored 13 goals in just 9 international games. Can he combine club and international form along with more games to challenge Brane for the top spot?

3. Simon Medina - 44 Games, 25 Goals, 12 Assists, 3 INT Goals - 127 Points
Brane is the best pure goal scorer we have ever had just as Simon is the most complete forward we have had. Simon is the only strike LSS has ever had capable of producing 25+ goals and 10+ assists at a consistent rate. Already viewed as one of the best players in the world, Simon led Leipzig to a second straight Bundesliga trophy and the second top scorer in the league. It is believed Simon would have won the Ballon'D'or if not for a poor world cup.

4. Kono Yukinari - 53 Games, 20 Goals, 2 Assists, 9 INT Goals - 118 Points
Kono finally got the games with Liverpool and responded with a great season. Also continued his great from with 9 more international goals to take the U.S. National team to 14th in the World. If he can score just a few more goals for Liverpool, he could potentially challenge for a top spot.

5. Edan Laffoley - 44 Games, 23 Goals, 5 Assists - 97 Points
Edan has taken over the Porter curse, phenomenal season for Leicester City but did not get any looks to further his sole appearance for the England national team. Slight positive is if he retires without another international appearance, he'll finish with one of the highest international goal ratios in history at 2:1.

6. Sven Jensen - 52 Games, 15 Goals, 3 Assists, 6 International Goals - 87 Points
Great season for Tottenham and Denmark, got the games he needed but will look to improve his goal scoring form if he hopes to win the competition.

7. Rasmus Nybo - 28 Games, 14 Goals, 1 Assist, 7 International Goals - 85 Points
Great goalscoring form for Rasmus through the season but unfortunately only got 28 games for Atletico Madrid. Also helped Atletico secure their first La Liga trophy in the nine years since the 2013/14 triumph.

8. Dickie Davies - 27 Games, 7 Goals, 11 International Goals - 72 Points
Decent season for Tottenham, however spent the season backing up Harry Kane and Sven Jensen. Would have had a disappointing season if not for his incredible form for the now 15th ranked South Korean national team.

9. Daniel Porter - 40 Games, 14 Goals, 1 Assist, 3 International Goals - 69 Points
Ironically, Daniel breaks through for the national team in what has been his worst season in recent years, but did take advantage of his 4 national team appearances by banging in 3 goals. The move to Chelsea worked in terms of getting international notoriety but will be disappoint that the majority of his 40 club appearances came off the bench. Will be interesting to see if he can get more starts next season.

10. Shane Tracz - 25 Games, 8 Goals, 5 International Goals - 52 Points
Disappointing season. Shane drops from 3rd to 10th after his big money move to Manchester City. Curious to see where he goes from this point, no doubt in that if he gets the games he will score the goals but will he get the games before its too late? Will be happy to now be the beneficiary of what once kept him out of the national team; getting the international playing time even though his club form suggests he shouldn't but can you really argue against the 5 international goals on the season?

11. Loki Thorsson - 27 Games, 9 Goals, 2 Assists, 4 International Goals - 45 Points
Loki decided to stay at Monaco for the season and although he played a reasonable amount he will have been disappointed to play as sparingly as he did. Will surely be the favorite for elimination next season.

12. Hugo Caldeira - 4 Games, 2 Goals, 2 International Goals - 8 Points
Hugo was betrayed by Monaco and it cost him. Monaco refused to play him in the first half of the season before finally letting him join Leipzig. Sadly could not get any games behind Simon Medina and Miguel Palmer.

Another golden boot, league title and adding internation goals to Brane Ormso's game. Fingers crossed he keeps this up and doesn't get injured or something.

1. Brane Ormso – 50 Games, 36 Goals, 3 Assists, 15 International Goals – 207 Points
How is this for dominant? Last season Brane recorded an incredible 177 points while winning the season by 45 points . . . this year he’s finished with 207 incredible points while finishing above second place by 44 points. At this point the real question seems to be who will finish in second place after this is all said and done. And oh by the way, his 29 league goals helped him to a third consecutive EPL Top Scorer award, joining an exclusive club of just Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer as the only three players to win the EPL Top Scorer 3 years in a row. However, there is trouble in paradise; Arsenal finished outside of the champions league spots and rumor is Brane is actively seeking a move to a champions league team. Only real disappointment will have been bouncing out in the Round of 16 of the Euro to the Netherlands on a PK shootout, Brane did however score 3 goals at the tournament before England’s premature elimination.

2. Simon Medina – 48 Games, 37 Goals, 9 Assists, 2 International Goals -163 Points
Simon showed us another part of his game this season; he showed us his elite goal scoring instincts. Not only did Simon finish as the top scorer in all of Germany with 29 goals, he finished with the European Golden Shoe as the top scorer in all of Europe. However, RBL failed to win the league and although they finished second . . . things got ugly. Simon was fed up with the teams’ performances in the Champions league and after a second straight elimination in the first round of the prestigious competition, Simon decided to speak out. RBL initially refused to cave in to his demands and initially stripped him of his vice captaincy. Things continued to sour but Simon eventually won and got a 115 million move to Atletico Madrid, which reunites him with former teammate, Miguel Palmer after only a year apart. Interestingly, Atletico has now spent 245 million in two years to secure Leipzig’s two biggest attacking talents, similar to what Barcelona did with Liverpool. Simon has now moved around for a combined total of 230 million in his short career but has lived up to the price tag everywhere he’s went so far. Can he continue to do so?

3. Sven Jensen – 59 Games, 29 Goals, 10 Assists, 6 International Goals – 150 Points
Another great season for a player that is quickly establishing himself as a Tottenham legend. However, still yet to win any major trophies with the team and will look to change that soon. Unfortunately Denmark was not able to build on that surprise trip to the World Cup quarterfinals as they bounced out in the second round of the Euros.

4. Daniel Porter – 58 Games, 25 Goals, 8 Assists, 8 International Goals – 140 Points
What a season Daniel Porter had, by far the best season when it comes to team accomplishments. Won a weak treble but still a treble with Chelsea as they won the Premiere league, league cup and the champions league in what was an incredible year. Unfortunately could not bring that luck to the England Euros campaign as they crashed out in the second round and Daniel failed to record a goal at the tournament. But I think the club trophies more than make up for that.

5. Kono Yukinari – 57 Games, 30 Goals, 6 Assists, 3 International Goals – 138 Points
Huge break out year for Kono as he finally banged in the goals at the rate his skillset suggests he should. Also won the Euro Cup with Liverpool. With continued improvement in the goal-scoring department could Kono potentially upset the cart and win the competition?

The former favorite and golden boy continues to score and silently build momentum. Bit of a breakout year for City but continues to share playing time with Shane Tracz. Will be disappointed that the only trophy City was able to win was the FA Cup and that Austria couldn’t make it out of the group stage of the Euros.

7. Shane Tracz – 34 Games, 18 Goals, 2 Assists, 13 International Goals – 126 Points
If I told you that a competitor only played 34 games of which 13 came off the bench this late in the competition, you would think that guy would be headed for elimination . . . but Shane scores at such an incredible rate that nothing seems to stop him for surviving. The 18 club goals were impressive in such few game but what about the 13 international goals in just 7 games? Or the 4 Euro goals to finish as the second top scorer at a tournament where his team didn’t even make it past the round of 16? The kid continues to score and should be among the favorites despite struggling for playing time at the moment.

Solid season for a guy who is arguably one of three world-class strikers at his club. Continues to bang in the goals for South Korea but will need to improve his Tottenham form if he aims to survive past next season let alone win the competition.

Finally got the games for Monaco and survived by the skin of his teeth. The real problem is that his club goals are only worth 3 points but with Barcelona interested in his services, could that be the move he needs? Will be happy to have survived for another season but will be disappointed to not have made an impact at the Euros as Denmark lost in the Round of 16 to Belgium, the eventual champions.

10. Rasmus Nybo – 25 Games, 8 Goals, 3 Assists, 11 International Goals – 79 Points
You have to feel for Rasmus, you really do. First, he was prompt for increased playing time with Atletico Madrid but they ultimately decided to bring in former competitor, Miguel Palmer for 130 million. Second, he did what he could with the little playing time he received and thirdly, he almost overcame all of this because of his incredible international form that saw him lead Norway to a shocking semi final appearance at the Euros as he finished as the top scorer in the whole tournament with 5 goals in 6 games. If it’s any consolation, Rasmus ends his competition with a nod to the Euro team of the tournament and a golden shoe to go with it.

The Porter curse ultimately resulted in Laffoley’s elimination. Another incredible season for Leicester but at this stage in the competition, international goals are a huge commodity and unfortunately for Edan, he continues to be overlooked by England. Doesn’t help that he’s an international for a country with arguably the best strike force in the world.

Miguel Palmer – 57 Games, 36 Goals, 1 Assist, 5 International Goals
What a player Miguel has become since his untimely elimination. Has become arguably the best striker in the world since he left and recently moved to Atletico Madrid for what would have been an LSS Transfer Record. Not to mention an incredible debut season that saw him grab 36 goals and indirectly cause the elimination of Rasmus Nybo. Has also collected top scorers in both La Liga and the Bundesliga to go with his European Golden Shoe.

Barry Bigong – 40 Games, 12 Goals, 3 Assists, 6 International Goals
Barry is finally starting to make a career for himself after leaving Arsenal for West ham a couple seasons back. Had two solid seasons for West Ham, including leading the club back to the premiere league in his first season. His potential career changing moment came in this summer’s Euros, he was exceptional and his two goals led Wales to the quarterfinals. Used the tournament as a showcase and got a 54 million dollar move to Leicester soon after. With Barry, Leicester hope they finally have help for Edan and a replacement for Daniel Porter.

Hugo Caldeira – 33 Games, 13 Goals, 3 Assists
Got a move to Leipzig as their replacement for a potential Miguel Palmer exit but was largely ineffective after only getting 4 appearances in his debut season. Was a little better this last season but his 13 goals were a long way from replacing the 32 they got from Palmer the season before, however with Simon Medina leaving can Hugo become the man for Leipzig? He’ll need to be to save his international career after two underwhelming seasons in a row have seen him lose his starting role for Portugal.

Papa Yeboah – 44 Games, 12 Goals, 1 Assist
Has not played at any higher international level than the U19’s for England, has never scored more than 12 goals in a season, has scored less than 10 goals in 6 of his 7 professional seasons so far and averages about 8 goals a season. Positives are Yeboah is rarely hurt and has played 114 of a possible 114 games in his last three years with Burnley in the premiere league. Yeboah is still only 24 and maybe Burnley didn’t develop his talent as well as they should have so a potential move to Norwich could provide answers and a potential revival for Yeboah’s career.

Holdma Deek – 39 Games, 13 Goals, 1 Assist, 7 International Goals
Deek has become a bit of a mercenary in his career and has played for no less than 7 clubs in his 7 seasons ranging from Reus in the second division to European giants, PSG. Although a PSG player for the last 5 years, Deek has spent a majority of his time out on loan including back-to-back successful spells at Torino and Roma that have seen him score 25 goals in 58 league games. Seems fed up with his playing time at the capital of France and is rumored to be looking for a way out.

Jensen Norgaard – 32 Games, 6 Goals, 3 Assists
Should be rewarded for his loyalty to Arsenal and the coaching staff seem to agree as the 32 games played last season are the most he’s ever had for the club although 18 of those games came as a substitute. Enjoyed his best season the year before that saw him grab 12 goals in 28 games. However, Arsenal are yet to win anything since Jensen joined in the summer of 2018. Still yet to play for the English national team and the smarter move might be switching to the Norwegian setup but is very cautious of making that move too soon and potentially later regretting it similar to Wilfried Zaha a decade back. However, with Brane Ormso potentially exiting the club soon, could that be the luck Norgaard needs to step up at the club and international level?

Barry Batsbatk – 28 Games, 4 Goals, 1 Assist
Barry is a bit of an anomaly. His highest scoring season was the 9 he had in his first season at Cambridge, yet someway he has managed to play 10 games for the 13th​ ranked Dutch national team. Barry continues his stay at Everton and has seen his playing time and importance steadily increase every season. Barry’s career could head anywhere and it’ll be interesting to see where it goes.

Very happy with how the season went.
But if im to challenge for the win then i need to be getting regular first team football, hopefully ive shown man city what i can do and they will get me starting more games.
 
Don't know what to say about my alter ego Brane Ormso other than wow. Another golden boot and a good showing for England.

Surely with my record i'll have some of the big boys coming after my signature if I do leave Arsenal. Although Arsenal have been good for me think I need to be in the Champions League if I'm going to keep my place at the top.
