Linecoigne's FIFA World League - a Chairman game

I'm gutted I haven't had one player in team of the month lol. Steady month for me. Still just about in contention for Europa. Relegation looks to be a million miles away at least!

So when liverpool get relegated, not Porto, what happens to the chairman?
Chairmen who are in charge of teams that get relegated will have a chance to take over one of the promoted teams from the FWL Division One, in order of their league finish. For example, whoever finishes 16th will have the first pick of the 3 teams that got promoted, 17th will have the second pick and 18th will have the third pick.

March update

Matchday 26

View attachment 154057

The most ridiculous game came from Brazil in this matchday as Corinthians got 3 RED CARDS but Barcelona still struggled to get a 2-1 win whilst Real Madrid absolutely smashed Atletico 3-0 at the Bernabeu. Valencia and Sevilla drew 2-2 in an all-Spanish encounter whilst Benfica could only draw with Inter as well. Bayern failed to win against Manchester United who got a draw through Martial with Liverpool also drawing with Milan and Arsenal drawing with Chelsea as well. In a matchday where a lot of the title contenders could not get wins, Juventus beat Manchester City 3-2 whilst PSG got a narrow 2-1 win over Porto to continue their good run of form as of late.
Shock (or not) from the Camp Nou as Barcelona beat Arsenal to blow open the title race which was until now dominated by the Gunners. Juventus also beat their Italian neighbours Inter to stay high up the table as Sevilla grabbed an impressive win over PSG, with Liverpool also managing a narrow win over Corinthians to keep their hopes high for safety this season. Porto won the derby against Benfica to also keep hopes for safety whilst Valencia beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Atletico got a good victory against Manchester United too, who seem to be plummeting down the table whilst Bayern were held to a draw with AC Milan. Real Madrid continued their good run with an away win against Manchester City as well.

Another amazing away win for Real Madrid who destroyed Porto whilst Manchester City bounced back from their disappointing game against Real and beat AC Milan 3-0 who now look like the favourites to get relegated. Benfica did well once again to draw at the Parc des Princes whilst Chelsea grabbed a narrow away win against Liverpool and Manchester United finally got back to winning ways by smashing Inter 3-0. An entertaining draw between Bayern and Arsenal also saw Barcelona get a 3-1 win over Valencia to go top of the league, making the title race closer than ever. Atletico continued their quiet race to the top as well with a 2-1 win over Corinthians.

With now just 6 games left in the season, Barcelona have completely blown open the title race by taking the first spot, with Arsenal sitting just behind them:

View attachment 154047
PSG have now gone further away from Europa League places with Real Madrid going unbeaten this month and just 5 points separating them from leaders Barcelona. AC Milan and Corinthians look doomed and could get relegated earl with a couple more bad results whilst Liverpool, Inter and Porto could be battling it out for safety.

Finally! Although the Corinthians game is a little worrying :/

I think those top six teams will be the top six teams now come the end of the season, although what order is still very much up in the air. Any of those six teams could win it, although I've gotta say my money is on Barca :D

Wow..so much to update.. Bayern just kind of stagnating now.. Maybe January spending could have helped... Can't wait to see how this season ends..

Bayern Munich Season so far...

November turned out to be rotten for the Bavarian side as they were knocked out of World League by Galatasaray. November also saw Munich lose to the English sides both home and away. Manchester United eked out a win at Allianz ArenA, and Arsenal won at the Emirates. The only consolation was a regulation win against the Corinthians.

December turned out to be better with Bayern finally picking up some form. Liverpool, Manchester City and Valencia, all were defeated with cracking performances, to which the scorelines do not do justice. However, Barcelona managed to get a win against us. How much this costs in the run-in to the title, remains to be seen.

January

Atletico 0 - 0 Bayern
Goalless draw against the Spanish side in a very even and physical game. Atletico just did not let us play.

Bayern 1 - 0 Inter
We dominated possession but rarely threatened inside the box. Inter did manage to do a lot with whatever possession they had. Finally it was good to get the 3 points in the bag.

Bayern 2 - 0 Seville

A Robert Lewandowski brace was enough to see off the challenge of Seville. He was ably supported by Xabi Alonso who stood out in the midfield.

Porto 0 - 0 Bayern
We should have got all 3 points. Porto, at home, played for a draw and got it.

February

PSG 2 - 0 Bayern
February started badly as we suffered our first loss of the year. The defence was in sixes and sevens as Ibrahimovic and the rest of the forwards ran riot.

Bayern 3 - 1 Benfica
We have started to make Allianz ArenA a fortress. Only 2 losses so far this season. Another win at home against Benfica sees us getting closer to the top spot as other teams have also started dropping some points.

Bayern 2 - 1 Real Madrid

A Robert Lewandowski brace again. We keep the Madristas at a distance and keep our assault on the title going.

Juventus 2 - 3 Bayern
A big, big, big win. This moves us ever closer to the title. Juventus had not yet lost at home. This sends out a title warning to them and Arsenal. It was a game for neutrals to watch as we came back from 2-1 down to win 3-2. Lewandoski scoring in the 83rd minute. Juventus threw all they had but could not find an equaliser.

March
Manchester United 1 - 1 Bayern
A draw against the old enemy. We are still in with a shout for the title, but the draws are not helping.

Bayern 1 - 1 AC Milan
This should have been 3 points as we were the better team throughout. However, another draw, this time at home. We are moving slightly away from the top.

Bayern 3 - 3 Arsenal
We could have moved to the same points as Arsenal with a win, but we had to settle for a draw. Most of the action was in 1st half, with 5 goals scored. We again came back from 3-2 down to 3-3.

Still 4 points off the top after 3 draws in March. The last few games are massive.
With home games coming up against Barcelona and Atletico, we can still catch up with them.

Our away games also include Chelsea and Liverpool, who are in bad run of form. This gives us hope.

April update and end of season 1

Matchday 29

View attachment 153762View attachment 153760

Going into the last five games of the season, Barcelona struggled at Chelsea despite scoring in the 1st minute and drew 1-1, allowing Arsenal to go back to the top of the league after they won against Liverpool also scoring in the 1st minute. AC Milan's hopes for safety were boosted as they grabbed a 3-2 win against Atletico while Valencia lost 3-2 to PSG with yet another goal from Higuain. Sevilla got an impressive victory against overperforming Benfica and Real Madrid could only draw 2-2 against Inter. The Manchester derby ended 1-1, with 3 red cards coming in the game. Juventus and Bayern continue their Arsenal chase with wins against Porto and Corinthians respectively, both of the latter seeming to be doomed now.

Barcelona's hopes for the title were boosted once again as they won 3-0 against Liverpool whilst Arsenal lost to Atletico Madrid 3-1, putting Atletico in an even better place for Champions League spots and Arsenal in second. Porto couldn't win against Manchester United as they stay near the very bottom of the league Benfica won against Valencia as they continued their impressive campaign. Real Madrid were dealt a big blow as they lost to Sevilla 1-0 but PSG could only draw 1-1 against Juventus, meaning they only got a point closer to the Spanish side in the race for Europa League spots. Bayern got a narrow win against Chelsea whilst Milan lost yet again, this time to rivals Inter, and Corinthians grabbed a point against Manchester City.

And Arsenal are right back at the top of the league! A 2-0 win against Manchester City got them back up to first as Barcelona could only draw against Bayern, putting back in second despite taking first place again just last week. Real Madrid are now a bit scared about Europa League spots as they lost to PSG, allowing the French side to come just a point behind them on the table. AC Milan, still hoping to get out of the relegation zone, won 2-1 against Porto to give themselves a lot of hope as Corinthians also grabbed a crucial 3 points against Inter. Liverpool's draw against Valencia puts them in a very bad position as we come into the last 3 games of the season and Benfica managed a draw against Juventus. Atletico also beat Chelsea and Manchester United beat Sevilla.

Matchday 32

View attachment 153744

Bad news for Barcelona as Arsenal have pulled away at the top of the league by smashing Inter 5-0 whilst Barcelona lost to fellow Spanish side Atletico, leaving them far behind Arsenal. Juventus also smashed Valencia as they're trying to get in the top 3. PSG and Real Madrid both got 2-1 wins as the battle for 6th continues and Bayern put Liverpool even further in the relegation zone as they got a 2-0 win. Sevilla won against AC Milan, now seemingly relegated, whilst Corinthians and Porto also drew 1-1. Manchester City crumbled under the pressure as they played Chelsea and lost 2-0.

Matchday 33

View attachment 153741
As we are now just one game away from the end of the season, PSG beat AC Milan to put the Italian side in deep trouble whilst Benfica lost against Manchester United, putting them behind the English side on the table. Corinthians grabbed yet again a crucial point against Sevilla as Porto were smashed by Arsenal at home. Liverpool also lost heavily to Atletico as the other Spanish side Barcelona struggled to overcome Manchester City but got 2 very badly-timed red cards, meaning Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez will be unavailable for the last game of the season as they chase Arsenal for the title. Juventus beat Real Madrid 2-1 in a very close encounter and Bayern also won but against Valencia. Inter grabbed a late victory over Chelsea, taking them further away from the relegation zone.

Arsenal are through to the FIFA World League Cup final where they'll play Leverkusen, who managed to beat Atletico to get there whilst Real Madrid took a great step towards the Europa League final by smashing PSV. Finally, Barcelona destroyed some random Turkish side to pretty much put themselves in the final of the Champions League.

As we get into the last game of the season, this is what the league table looks like:

View attachment 153728
Slight rectification, Juventus are in 4th since their game in hand against Real Madrid was on the 1st of May meaning the result didn't take place on the table. Barcelona are then in 5th and PSG stay in 6th, 2 points ahead of Real Madrid. The battle for safety between Porto, AC Milan, Corinthians and Liverpool will be incredibly tense in that last game of the season as Arsenal will battle with Atletico and Bayern for the title.

As Arsenal get ready for the final game of the season, they can already add one trophy to their cabinet in the FIFA World League Cup as they got a narrow victory against Leverkusen! Barcelona and Real Madrid are easily through to their respective European competitions' finals, as expected, and could get 2 very prestigious trophies at the end of the month.

Arsenal are the champions! After a long season where they looked unbeatable until January and the lead then changed multiple times in April, their draw against Sevilla was enough for them to win the league as Atletico lost to Bayern, making them fall down to 5th. PSG lost out on Europa League places as they lost to Corinthians, win that proved to be ever so crucial for the Brazilian side since they go out of the relegation zone and put Porto at the bottom of the league with Liverpool just above them and AC Milan in 16th. Juventus got a nice win against Manchester United to put them in 3rd as Barcelona could only climb up to 4th with Real Madrid also finishing in 6th after their 2-0 win over Valencia. It's been quite an incredible first season full of intensity that now sees Arsenal, Bayern and Juventus qualify for the Champions League whilst Barcelona, Atletico and Real Madrid qualify for the Europa League. However, since Barcelona will win the Champions League and Real Madrid will win the Europa League, this means that both those teams will probably end up in the Champions League, allowing Manchester United and PSG to maybe get a Europa League spot for next season.

Chairmen of Porto, Liverpool and AC Milan, you may choose one of the teams in the promoted teams below with the AC Milan getting the first pick, Liverpool getting the second pick and Porto getting the last pick:

Real Madrid and Barcelona have both capped off their disappointing season by winning the Europa League and the Champions League respectively, with Real Madrid worryingly struggling against Elfsborg! It was a very easy route to the final and the title for both teams and it will definitely be more competitive next season with Juventus, Bayern and Arsenal in the Champions League.

Chairmen of Manchester City and Real Madrid, you will have to PM me telling me which manager you'd want to manage your club. Mourinho is off limits as MrWisdoman has already secured him the Chelsea job.

Thanks everyone for participating in this first season, I'll let everyone update for their club and then put out a post regarding next season for something I'd like to introduce as "mystery boxes" where you can get perks ahead of the new season but also a post to make sure of who's still participating in this chairman game.

NOOOOOO. A win vs Bayern, and we'd be champions. Instead, we're 5th >_< What a close season, really entertaining!

Hopefully, we can strengthen for the next season and mount a title challenge. Really pleased that we kept up with financial giants though!

EDIT: Btw, is there some small errors with what is considered "continental football". Half my team are now unhappy because they want to play continental football, but I did qualify for the EURO Cup.

Maybe it hasn't registered it yet? When I go in the rules of the competition it does say that 4th to 6th qualify for the EURO Cup so I'm as confused as you are when you tell me that. Looking at the table now it tells me that Barcelona and Real Madrid have qualified for the Champions Cup but none of the other teams have that yet so I think it just hasn't registered yet :) I'll let you know in the next update if that's been fixed or not!

Cool, hopefully it will not be a big issue anyways. What I'm more worried about is the difference in financial situations of the clubs. I think the financial benefits of the league might be a bit on the short side, but that remains to be seen. I did a sim to July 1st, and found that some teams are far into the negative, while Arsenal have £300M to spend because of their major sponsorship deals. Might have a situation next summer where a lot of teams are severely crippled financially, while others can just buy whatever they want :) But I guess that is the situation in world football as well.

Actually, I'm completely disregarding the finances of the clubs in the save itself since you don't control half of the transfers. With the league money and TV money coming in, you should just add all of that to the balance your team had at the end of the January transfer window. I know that not sound like a very realistic thing to do but as you said, a lot of teams are doing terribly financially and since the rule is that after a certain amount of pounds in debt, a club has to start making key players free agent, that would mean that only clubs like Arsenal would keep their players, which would be a bit unfair. If you have a better idea about how to deal with finances though then let me know but for now I feel like the way I've been doing it is the most efficient!

Well, to be fair. I'm not sure how you've been doing it :) I was just looking at the ingame balances of the teams, so if you have a different calculation that makes sure teams actually have money to spend, I support that 100%! So if you run your own balances and use that to calculate how much we get to spend, I think that evens it out, and is more fair than using the ingame figures, as the teams have such different incomes.

Still playing, still enjoying. 10th for Benfica is awesome especially with all the big teams about! Need to recruit Cleverley (not the player) now. Anyone got any players to loan hit me up with a PM! Mystery boxes would be cool. If it's financial gain it could be 'guised' as a big new sponsor or something and we could do a post about it. Maybe a player up to a certain amount we get on a free. Obviously your choice just ideas.

Thanks for for your time on this mate. It's be excellent and brilliantly laid out. I will update tomorrow as on my phone now and at work till midnight. Just out of interest who got promoted?

FU**

CORINTHIANS, YOU LITTLE BUGGERS.

EDIT - 3 very good teams came up though, including a team known as LEVERKUSEN! (I'll let Macedonian pick 1st though. :))
