Bayer's first Super League's steps (August-September)
It's been a relatively quite summer on Rhine's eastern bank as the Aspirin team only has made two significant movements during summer's transfer window.
The first player to arrive to Leverkusen was one of Ajax's most promising prospect and a regular on Netherland's youth national teams: Richairo Zivkovic.
Zivkovic is a young yet really talented striker that is also able to perform effectively on both wings, the Aspirin team payed 4,4 millions for him in what seems to be considered one of the greatest bargains of this season's Super League so far.

Zivkovic is meant to become Leverkusen's main offensive force in a not so far future.
The second player is not joining on a permanent basis but it could serve to restablish a positive and symbiotic relationship between Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen once again.
Marco Asensio will be joining Leverkusen on loan until the end of the season in a move where everybody should end up winning something: Bayer coverage for the gap left by Çalhanoglu's absence, Asensio regular game time to keep developing (specially after his decent campaign on Porto, on a personal level at least, last season) and Real Madrid the chance of experiencing another case like Dani Carvajal's, who blossomed into one of Europe's finest right backs thanks to his stay in Leverkusen.

Asensio will provide even more class, technique and versatility to Leverkusen's extraordinary midfield.

We started the season visiting the always difficult Signal Iduna Park in a match that could prove vital in order to avoid relegation since we played against one of the other newly promoted teams but we managed to get an extremely important win thanks to Kevin Kampl who scored a brace against his former team.
PSG visited the Bay Arena, I feared that it would end up becoming a one sided match as the Parisiens were one the strongest sides last season but we were able to put up a good fight and got an important point at the end.
Short league hiatus and time for some Cup action, the team advances to the next round but with way more suffering that necessary as we could only win 3-2 against a 6th division Sudanese's squad... but we're still alive and that's what matters at the end.
Back to the league and quick travel to Lisbon where the Eagles tore us apart... or did they? Despite what the final result says the match was incredibly even in both possession and chances, but an
OWN GOAL BRACE scored by Leno foiled any chance to grab anything positive from our visit to Da Luz.
Barcelona came to the Bay Arena in the only match where we found ourselves overwhelmed, the blaugranas only needed 15 minutes to ****** the win away... and we should be thankful that they only scored two goals.
We finished September visting San Siro, much to my surprise it was yet another surprisingly even match and in the end we claimed a well deserved draw.

Kampl's vital brace gives him the honor to be our first MVP.

We closed the first two months in a pretty tricky situation, as it seems worse than it actually is. The team is barely above relegation zone but much to everyone's surprise it's been able to fight on equal ground with almost all the opposition found so far... With a bit more confidence and experience... we could make a miracle.
