Our tour of Japan gave us probably the toughest opposition I've ever come up against.
I completely underestimated the quality in their teams and rightly got trashed 4-2 in the
opening game of the series. Mario Balotelli is looking like a goal a game striker if given good service
but I've learned that he is ineffective as a lone striker: He needs Sturidge or Borini beside him
to open up space.

Grampus gave us a really hard test and we went 1-0 down after 17 minutes. Second half changes
in Balotelli and Markovic made the scoreline more respectful but it was a poor display in all
fairness.

Our Pre Season did have one major causlties to injury though.

Philippe Coutinho is out for 2 to 3 Months. This leaves me short of creative tallent
through the middle. Lallana is not fit yet and I'm not sure if Suso can play that role
to the standard required in Old Trafford.

The biggest game in English football is here, two bitter rivals
take center stage at the theater of dreams. The teams head out onto the field.

View attachment 331046
The game was played at a frantic pace and it only
took 25 minutes for the first goal was scored!

Mario Balotelli opening his Liverpool account!
Liverpool go into the break 0-1 up.

View attachment 331042
The game is restarted! United come out of the blocks flying, probing for space
but The Liverpool back line holds firm.

Liverpool are countering mainly down the Left, with Sterling cutting inside.
Rodríguez is struggling to keep him quiet, he lunges in and. . .

Penalty!

View attachment 331041
And as if that wasn't enough, Andre Marriner has produced the Red Card.
He's sent him off! Was that a harsh call? Wayne Rooney joins the protest!

De Gea cuts a lonely figure in the United goalmouth
as Steven Gerrard lines up the spot kick

View attachment 331039View attachment 331037
It's 0-2!

Was it a red card!? Harsh some will say but United are 0-2 down at home
to a Liverpool playing out of their skins.

United try to get back into the game, probing at every opportunity but Simon Mignolet
is having an absolute storming game of the Reds!

And thats how it finished here at Old Trafford. Liverpool open their
campaign with 3 huge points while Van Gaal is left resigned,
having to start from the bottom of the hill.

It was the derby so I had to make it special but no, I tend to do monthly updates with just the match report

2, Its Jeff Stelling :p

Good read so far though :D

Hmmmm, *quick google check* so it is.
My bad :p

Liking the story, not a Liverpool fan but always look for good FM story. Keep up the good work and United losing 2-0  lol.

Loving the start of this story, great result against Utd :)
Keep up the great work, looking forward future updates...

A so-so month. A great performance in Old Trafford but two
disappointing games followed. We didn't play badly, luck just wasn't
on our side on the day: hitting the post against Hull 4 times.

I'm not too concerned by our early league position. The table will change
a hundred times over the next 3 months. The key is to be in the Top four
come December as the teams at the top in February usually stay there.

Such a good story! Unlucky this month after the good start vs Manchester United. Still, you said you hit the post 4 times vs Hull so at least the performances still seem to be there. You'll be right up there come May!

Looking good mate. What're you tactics?

Aye. It's still early days. Only 3 days in so I'm quite optimistic. If you team is playing well but not getting results; worst thing you can do is freak out and give out to them.

Looking good mate. What're you tactics?

Cheers, I'll put them up in a bit. Just got a Champions League Group Stage draw update to do.

Fantastic story so far loving it.

I have a big interest in how you do as I'll be managing the same team, if you didn't already guess lol.

Keep it up :)

Cheers

Shock waves were felt throughout Europe and Arsenal F.C.
failed to make the Champions League Group Stages for the
first time since 1998.

View attachment 330584
For the first time in over 15 years, only 3 Engish team will contest
the Champions League Group Stages. This has repercussions for
Liverpool since more groups will be open for the English side to be
drawn into (Teams of the same nation cannot be drawn together)

Before we move onto the Champions League Group Stage draw
we have the matter of the UEFA Super Cup to deal with first.

Group C had won
this competition 17 times!
