I think he was there at the start of the season, If not he moved from Santos, May be in Brazil youth teams if not a manual search should bring him up!

Yeah I searched on google, he joined Benfica last July, spent the season playing for their B side. So is he much good then? Did you sign him?

Champions League Champions Playoff - Second Leg - Maribor (Home)

With the international break coming up, no real reason not to play a strong team today. Youngster Joakim Kardum takes a place on the bench after signing a youth contract.

In just the 5th minute, an unfortunate Maribor player deflected the ball into his own net from a dangerous looking Ricardinho cross.

A cross along the ground from Ricardinho in the 8th minute was also put into the net, this time by their keeper - I’m not entirely sure how he managed it.

Two minutes later, my assistant manager pops up with this gem:

In the 34th minute, one of our own players got on the scoresheet as the keeper made a great save off Linnes’ long shot, but Eriksson was on hand to volley the rebound into an empty net.

Thauvin made it a scoring return to action two minutes later by heading another Ricardinho cross in off the bar - so much for crosses not working!

Maribor finally pulled a goal back in the 49th minute, working the ball around in our box from a corner, and someone eventually striking it past Olsen.

Kardum came on for his debut in the 64th, replacing Biro-Biro as we switched to 4-2-3-1.

Santos replaced Thauvin in the 74th.

Romagnoli came on for Helander in the 82nd.

A comfortable win, but the only players to get ratings over 7.4 were Thauvin (8.3, 1G, 0A) and Ricardinho (9.1, 0G, 3A). Good performance, though we seemed pretty casual for the most part. We now have the group stages of the Champions League to look forward to after the international break.

POM: Ricardinho (9.1, 0G, 3A)

And here is the result - Group D. Hopefully we can beat Zenit and Olympiakos to second place, but third place is my minimum aim here. Our group can be called the group of Champions apparently, with all four sides being the reigning champions of their respective nations.

And here is a huge challenge. Up until now it’s been easy to turn away approaches for Gianluca Neri, but he wanted a chat…

Good result though, as I risked the first team football argument, and fortunately he recognised that I was right. Bullet dodged!

Interesting offer for Adu, a player who is really just a backup, though he provides good depth at both CM and DM. I’ve negotiated it and accepted it however, as I feel that he doesn’t have a long term future here, and he’s not home grown anyway. 2.7 million is not a bad deal for a backup player.

Poor Rodrigo Possebon picks up another injury :( Good news as KBH resumes full training, though his attributes have fallen all across the board, may take him a while to get back into things.

Delahaye makes his debut for Belgium U21’s, and scores 4 goals!! [Tinnerholm's slight concern was resolved]

Going in for another regen - record transfer for the club too!

Diaz agrees to join - he will link up in November.

Injury News...

Bad news as Milosevic, who has been a rock at the back all season, is out injured for a period - with Champions League fixtures coming up, his absence will be keenly felt. Blomqvist, Biro-Biro and Romagnoli will really have to step up. This highlights the drop in quality between our first choices, and our prospects :/

Disaster strikes! The even more important Helander is out too! We could really struggle in the next couple of weeks! I sent him to a specialist so it will be 2 weeks, as opposed to 3-4, but we will definitely feel his absence!

You'll have to show us a screenshot of Diaz when he arrives. If he is anything like your other regen pickups so far he would have to be god-like to get you to part with 5.75m!! :)

He looks very promising, I wouldn't say that he's better than Santos or KBH though. Not too far off though, and it may just be a matter of opinion. I still don't know how I got some of those others so cheap haha

Swedish Premier Division - Game 22 - Örebro SK (Away)

So we have a rotated lineup today, with the first CL match away against Galatasaray in just 3 days time. Svensson is only on the bench to fill out the homegrown quota.

In the 8th minute, a lightning fast snap shot from Eriksson forced the keeper into an impressive save.

Drasko Petkovic got us on the board in the 28th minute, latching onto Eriksson’s flick-on through ball and slamming the ball into the top left corner.

In the 50th minute, Petkovic raced onto Tinnerholm’s long ball, and kept it alive. He swung a cross to the back post, where Thauvin had the simplest of tap ins.

Biro-Biro was replaced by Romagnoli in the 58th, with an eye towards the Galatasaray match.

Blomqvist picked up a knock just 5 minutes later, and had to be replaced by Gustafson. Ajer moved to centre back, and we switched to 4-2-3-1, a personnel based decision.

Neri’s delightful chip forward in the 72nd was slammed by Eriksson on the half-volley, but it was well saved, and he was offside regardless.

Santos replaced Thauvin in the 78th.

The Brazilian played a similar pass to Neri’s earlier chip in the 84th, and this time Eriksson was onside, and beat the keeper to make it 3.

A good win, particularly with a makeshift defence, but I look towards the post-game with trepidation, as I may find that we are down a third centre-back. This is a potential crisis situation. Petkovic and Eriksson picked up a goal and assist apiece, Bengtsson and Thauvin were also impressive. Ajer did a reasonable job filling in at centre back.

POM: Drasko Petkovic (8.8, 1G, 1A)

Injury News...

My worst fears are confirmed. We have just two fit centre backs left - one has been playing defensive midfield all season, and the other full back. Tough times ahead.

Champions League Group Stage - Game 1 - Galatasaray (Away)

Today’s match at Galatasaray is a big one. We are missing two of our best players this season, who have been absolute rocks in defence, and have inspired great performances all year - Helander is also effectively our captain. Two relatively untested South Americans are there instead. Blomqvist is also out, which means we have no depth whatsoever. This is a match which I’d love to win, but given our crisis in central defence, a draw would be a decent result. Looking at the lineups, it looks like I’m choosing an attacking lineup because I’m confident. Looks can be deceiving. I chose this formation because I had little to no choice. If we get overwhelmed early, we’re in serious trouble.

We got off to a flyer though. A throw in deep in the left corner in the 4th minute was worked into the box, and Molins found himself with plenty of space to drive the ball past Muslera and give us the lead!

About 30 seconds later we were back to square one. Sneijder tried to play in his right winger, but the ball rebounded to him off Ricardinho, and he smashed it first time into the bottom right corner off the post from range - an incredible goal!

In the 14th minute, Gustafson found Thauvin inside the box, who spun his defender brilliantly, but his low shot went inches wide of the near post.

KBH scored off a lovely through ball from Gustafson in the 24th minute, but was debatably ruled offside.

In the 38th minute, Thauvin played Santos through, and the Brazilian lasered the ball at goal. The rebound came straight back to him, and Muslera couldn’t keep out his second attempt, as we went ahead again.

Linnes found KBH with a cross in the 54th, but a defender got his foot in to force a corner.

In the 66th, Santos smashed a header into the bar, and it then rebounded off Muslera and back into the net! 3-1!

Ajer came on for KBH in the 68th, as we switched to the 4-3-3, with Santos playing as striker.

But Santos went down with an injury in the 79th, and was replaced by Eriksson. Kardum came on for Gustafson at the same time.

A vital win today, one which surely confirms that we are capable of at least coming third in our group, if not second. The players played well, KBH was a little rusty, but Santos was brilliant - I really hope his injury isn’t serious!

POM: Santos (9.0, 1G, 1A)

Santos adds to our injury woes - he’s out for two weeks :(

Swedish Premier Division - Game 23 - Norrköping (Home)

Huge match against third placed Norrköping. I send out what is just about my strongest available team.

KBH got us of to a fantastic start, converting Thauvin’s cross from close range in just the second minute!

In the 10th minute, the opposition keeper made a fantastic save to deny Molins, who had lined up a shot from the edge of the box following a corner.

In the 23rd minute, Norrköping thought they had tied the game, but Alexandre was a mile offside.

In the 36th minute, their keeper made an almost identical save from an almost identical Molins effort, this one coming following a swift counter attack led by Thauvin and KBH.

In the 52nd minute, we worked the ball into the box through Gustafson, and Thauvin squared unselfishly for KBH, who rifled past the keeper to double our lead.

In the 61st minute, Thauvin and Gustafson were replaced by Forsberg and Kardum.

In the 65th minute, Forsberg had a go, but his low shot from outside the area was saved at full stretch by the keeper.

Petkovic for Molins was a 68th minute change.

In the 73rd, KBH collected the ball in the box, and chipped a cross to Forsberg, who half volleyed home at the back post.

I thought Crisetig had picked up his first goal for us when he fired from the edge of the area in the 83rd minute. It struck the keeper, then the inside of the left post, at which point I thought it had crossed the line, but the keeper picked it up, and no goal was called.

A Bengtsson free kick in the 85th was knocked down and KBH stuck a volley, but was denied his hat trick by the keeper.

An excellent all round performance today, Thauvin and KBH the obvious standouts, though Ajer, amongst others had a great game. KBH was brilliant, and I’m so pleased to see him rediscovering his form so soon after his injury return. Their keeper had a great game, but I thought KBH deserved to win POM.
