Messi doesn't need strength, not many people knock him off the ball because he has a low centre of gravity. Can no one remember him keeping Vidic away from the ball by shielding it in the Champions League final? Strength and size doesn't mean much in football.

He can head the ball, he has scored many headers. Ronaldo is faster (without the ball) and that's all I can think of tbh. His free kicks aren't all that, find out how many hits the wall and you'll be suprised. Law of averages states he needs to score at least 1 if he has 35 free kicks.

Also, Messi shows up in the big games ...

Hit he nail on the head there for me, Messi's low centre of gravity and suprising ability to keep the ball even when players do get close ^ I remember him going through the midfield in that cl final shoulder to shoulder with two players but he just nipped between them, his footballing assets are in near perfect harmony his dribbling ability his speed with the ball and his ability to find the net as well as on top of all that a fine team player with a great footballing brain capable of picking out killer balls.

To me Ronaldo has weakness in that he's really selfish he's his own worst enemy - many times he'll only pass the ball if he realises he can't score himself even then sometimes he goes for attempts from stupid angles and ranges. He can't pick out a pass like Messi can ala El Classico his speed and power help him beat average opponents but often its not enough against top sides hence he rarely performs half as well in big games. All in all Messi's got a more rounded game and anyone that says Messi can't header hasn't been watching him.

Raw Talent : Messi ( hes 23 and still has room to grow, scary isn't it Ronaldo is at his peak.)

Over the past 3 seasons Messi's statistics are almost double of Ronaldo, I can't believe some of you even mention CR in the same breath as Messi, and the excuse about Messi playing in Barca is retarded as Man Utd and Real Madrid are similar, and if you play in a club with better players and shine so much thats even more impressive, look at Villa's record this season and he is the best striker in the world lol, he should have 30 goals by now if thats true, thats just a pathetic excuse by jealous people who don't like Messi, fact is , when he retires he will probably rank top 10, and if he wins the WC top 3 without a doubt, and Ronaldo won't, not even close.

Thats because Barca are the same team or almost the same team for like the past 5 years, xavi ,iniestia ,puyol , god see ther passing work then say some bs like real madrid are ****.

You need to see that ronaldo has moved from england to spain , england = faster football ,more aggresive ,more solo.

Spain = slower, and full teamwork.

Thing with ronaldo is he thinks he can beat everyone and infact he can , but then his team work skills let him down + real madrid are a team in construction , and its going to take them a while before they know each others moves by heart and with mourinho as a coach its even better

See ronaldo's team work in the portugal national team , they know each others moves by heart when to pass when not to , when to do what.

Right now , Messi is the world's best player because hes been in form a lot a lot and hes young and hes in spotlight , like ronaldo was in united, but still you can argue all day , and messi is only as good as his team mates are, even tho he dribbles and all , if he played for another team it would be quite diff, like he got owned in playing the argentina national squad at the wc.

Messi is better in most aspects what i like most about messi is he is a battler and plays for the shirt!! Ronaldo plays for himself and his oversized ego! As far as messi playing for a better team goes thats nonsense real madrid are just as good individually but when it comes to teamwork real take us back to the egos and the work rate. Messi is By far the better player .. he is leagues ahead of ronaldo but what makes him even better is his attitude and determanation to stay on his feet while running with the ball .. IMO messi is the best player ever .. due to how much the average day in day out player has improved and yet he still makes it look easier than maradona and zidane , also like i said before his attitude is far better than most players and just how good he is just makes him the best ever IMO the way he easies past players his eye to pick out a pass and he get out of any situation pretty much and people say ronaldo is better in the air , he is more of a threat cose of height of course but id say messi can head the ball aswell no 1 remember his header agaisnt man u and he scored a few very good headers last season ... ronaldo can be very good on his day but i would still say messi is leagues above ronaldo .

the la liga is not better than the premiership, it may be in terms of entertainment but in terms of the quality of the teams the premiership is better. Staying on topic though, due to the physicality of the premiership, messi would struggle to compete and thats why i feel ronaldo is better

What the **** are you talking about , first watch some Barca matches before you speak ****.

Iniesta was injured most of the last season, and Xavi missed a few matches aswell , and guess what , Messi was scoring braces in those games carrying the team on his shoulders, even when they play , its Messi who dribbles past players , its Messi who draws defenders on him so others get a lot more space ( just watch his 2 assists vs Real Madrid, he drew alot of defenders on him both times and then made a wonderfull trough pass to Villa ).
Barcelona struggles A LOT more without Messi then it does without Iniesta or Xavi.

If Barca is so great how come Villa doesn't have 30 goals so far, hes supposedly the best striker in the world isn't he? And just look at Spain , they lost 4:0 vs Portugal , and even tho they won the WC you can't say they played extraordinary , they never won by more than 1 goal.

Its Messi who makes Barca from a great team to maybe one of the best teams in the history.

Seriously give the guy credit, he has better stats numbers in the past 2 seasons than Gerd Muller and assist numbers higher than even Xavi atm, you can't argue that.

Lets be honest here.

Your obviously going to say Ronaldo as you have him in your avatar, and you support united.

Look what happened when Messi played against Arsenal, he ripped them to shreds, scored a header against Man united, and i think that if he played in the prem he would dominate it easily, teams like Stoke and Blackburn's players arent particularly good nor clever....They wouldnt be able to get near enough to Messi to even foul him.

For me its Messi > Ronaldo.
