Mr Langvatn's Tactic Thread (Updated for 13.3.3)

I want to start a game with Man Utd, but I think that Rock will be too defensive (or on counter) for me. Do you think this right? Probably want to play my home games with dominance and my away games solid. What do you reccomend?

try the new rock you will score a shed load with man u

I also want to use the tactic at my other save game, in which I have Isco, Thiago and Oscar for CM, Vidal for Def M and Deulofeu, Fischer, Walcott and Zaha as wingers (might buy some others, but this is squad at moment). The normal Rock (not the classic) would be ideal for this, since I don't have to buy a lot of players to begin with. Do you guys believe that tactic will work just as well?

yes it will with that side you should win most things

so is instant result not very good?
No its fantastic but the games I dropped points usually had a sending off. If I played the match I would have reduced tackling or subbed the fella off before he got sent off.

Instant result doesn't deal with yellows cards, red cards or injuries very well but when its 11 v 11 I dont really notice any difference

Using the Rock classic tactic. I didn't make any squad changes, which means that the quality on the bench was terrible. Still managed to become champion. I was knocked out of Europa league in the second knock-out phase, because I had Milito and Cassano injured and Palacio just cant score (Rocchi not registred).

what kind of training did you use?

Well as mentioned earlier, my first season in the BSN with Oxford was a massive success, with pretty much the default team, with just a few additions for squad depth I managed 100 points, winning the league easily.....

Season 2 and my first in BSP started dreadfully, I couldn't sign any decent players so ended up picking up free transfers that BSP and BSN/BSS teams had released, so I played the season with a very poor and very small squad. I also made a big balls up, I arranged lots of friendlies with big teams to bump my bank balance (which it did) and didn't notice that the friendlies ran all the way up to 2 days before the season started, so when the season began all my players were shattered and around 60% fit and in need of rest. I played the first game and lost and then had to send my entire squad on a 2 week holiday to get them fit, which meant I managed 2 points from the next 4 games using greyed out players! So after 5 games i had 2 points and sat 21st in the league.

Once i got my players back things started to look up and results were good considering the poor squad I had to work with and I managed to get into the top 6 after around 15 games but still sat about 9 points off of the top. In February I was around 6 points off the top when my top scrorer and striker got injured for 11 months :( Rest of the season I had to play with a 16 year old up front.

I managed to stay in contention though, despite the problems and I ended up going into the final game 3 points off the top and the team who were top, Bristol Rovers, were my final opposition!!! I think you can guess what happened :D

Yup, I won the league on goal difference despite huge problems and a poor squad. Turning professional next season so HOPEFULLY I will be able to sign some better players, but I guess that depends what budget the board give me as I talked them into improving the training facilities which is prob going to skint the club!

Season 3 has just ended and it was my first season in League 2....................... and I walked it!!!! My professional status helped me sign some better (but far from good, as I still had a tiny budget) players and I started the season with 7 new players in the starting 11. It took us a few games to get the team familiar with each other and after a few rocky performances in the first 5 or 6 games we really took off and absolutely smashed it, finishing the league with 107 points! Got knocked out of the FA Cup in round 4 away at WBA who also beat me early on in the league cup. JPT I played my reserves and lost in the QF or something, but I wasn't bothered about that comp as i expected to struggle in the league, so wanted my main players fresh for league games. Here is league table for season 3 and 3rd championship win in a row! I got hit by lots of injuries around Jan/Feb time which seems the norm, but managed to get through it.

Rich_genie do you rate this tactic or Gonzo's The Godfather tactic better?

Anyone struggling to get the tactic fluid in time for the start of the season? I employed a new Assistant Manager with a Tactical training attribute of 12 (2nd season with Berwick Rangers in Div 3) and the Team Cohesion (Very High) and Tactics Only training had me fully fluid after just 3 friendly matches.

Get yourself a decent tactical trainer, preferably the Assistant Manager!

It's hard to say, but so far I have been very consistent winning every league I have played in so far with the rock classic, without any micro management, although I have not tried it in the premier league yet. The Gonzo one worked amazing in both my Derby save and my Tranmere save, getting me my best points totals in this years FM and doing amazingly well with Ireland but I did micro manage a lot and I did win a lot of games by the one goal margin, also the first time I tried Gonzo with WBA it didn't work at all for some reason. What made me try this tactic is that I started a game in Sweden with my girlfriends local team Husqvarna who last season played in the bottom league in Sweden which meant I could not sign players and had to play with a poor team. I played a season with Gonzo as that was the tactic I had had most success with and I finished 3rd in the league, lots of draws like in my WBA save. I then restarted and played the season again, this time using rock classic and I ****** the league, losing only 1 game and I think I drew 3 or something. Gonzo was very good but I think it required certain players to work well and required a good assistant for opp instructions etc.

So I find this tactic to work with any team, anytime, with all sorts of players but it has not yet produced the points totals that I got in those 2 seasons with Derby and Tranmere using Gonzo, but then my lower league team in Sweden did massively better using the rock classic than using the Gonzo tactic.

I doubt any tactic could top the 118 points or whatever it was that I got with the Gonzo, but that was with lots of micro management and it did fail on a couple of occasions and I don't know why, but the rock easily got me 107 points in league 2 with Oxford City with no micro management, and I doubt I could have done that with Gonzo. Not with this squad anyway!

I know you may of answered this already but what players suit the positions? The rb and lb have arrows backwards does this mean they will be defensive so I should use Vertonghen as a defensive lb or an attacking one the same with the rm and lm and what players shall I play at cm?

Finally got the win by 5 goals achievement. Newcastle 5-0 Chelsea haha
