Mr Langvatn's Tactic Thread (Updated for 13.3.3)

I agree with the 10 man thing. Who do you take off when you go down to 10? I always take off the DM and I usually go on to score another goal or 2.

I usually take off a CM and then move the DM to the DM-spot under where the CM was. Either that or I take off the striker, as the midfielders still score a lot of goals.

I like to switch between saves to keep things fresh, so I took a break from my Oxford City save (will go back to it in a few days) and started a Derby County save. Won The Championship with 111 points which equals my personal record number of points in a season on this years FM, I have just started season 2 and my first in the prem. I have only 1 player in the first 11 that was not in the first 11 in my championship season, that is Toloi playing as a DM. First 2 games I beat Fulham at home 1-0, in a scrappy game, and then I beat Liverpool away 3-2! My reserves then beat Preston in the cup 5-1 with a regen striker from my own academy scoring 2. Then back in the league and this happened :D :D :D :D :D

2 goals came from penalties that Hughes won with bursting runs into the box, one from a right wing cross which Jeff Hendrick headed home and the third was a cross from my left winger Lopez who was a free transfer at the beginning of the game, he skinned 3 City players and crossed to the back post for an unmarked Gustavo (another free transfer at the start) to smash home. 10 shots on target compared to City having the 1! watched match highlights on extended and never saw a City attack lol

Can't see it lasting with the squad I have, but we shall see.

I spoke too soon about my Rennes save with Degeneration X tactic, last 6 games if the season didn't score a goal, ended up runners up, so next season I will switch to the 4-1-4-1 Rock as this seems to be where everyone is having all the success. any special instructions or tips for the wide midfielders for this tactic?.

Nah, like stated before, most players work. Just get typical wingers, or maybe even some strikers and CM's can be retrained. In my test save with Liverpool I used Gerrard on the right winger and Neymar on the left winger :) If you re-train CM's to wingers, it will be stronger defensively, if you use typical wingers it will be stronger offensively :)

Awesome results :) Often, the more you are being dominated in possession, the more you score, cause you get more chances to counter-attack. Just use quick players :)

currently sitting 3rd with norwich (3 more games to go) with first season using rock classic tactic! absoulutely the best tactic! Grant holt is the beast. I was an arrigo sachi's tactic user by sean. Any recommendation who should i sign next season? I cant get those good regens to come my club, idk why,

The results proves it all. I had to this is the best tactic of FM 2013. Finished my 1st season with Norwich, won the FA cup in the final vs Everton and sitting 3rd of the league table. Only made 3 signings, some loans and sold some deadwood in the squad. Grant Holt was the top scorer in my team despite he was out for 4 months injury. Bassong was the beast of the defence. Snodgrass the heart of midfield. Ruddy won the golden glove award and Grant Hanley won the young player of the year. Some screenshots of the players who performed well.

I put him on Box to Box midfielder, I don't have that save anymore so can't show a screen shot, but I have one of him from the end of season one in a save I am playing now, using that exact training.

Bare in mind that his potential can vary game to game, I checked with genie scout and in this save his PA is 175 which is pretty high, as some saves it can be 155. This screen shot has his Current Ability at 147, not sure what it was at the start but I think he has improved a lot for 1 season!

PS: ignore the thumbnail below, the pic above is the most up to date one, the thumbnail at the bottom was taken a few days before, but he improved again just after I posted it.

Cheers, would you say central mid's are best box to box?

I like training box to box because it trains all the important attributes for a midfielder in both defence and attack. Improves finishing, technique, dribbling, passing, first touch, off the ball, acceleration and anticipation, but also improves work rate, strength, positioning, stamina, marking and heading. Best all round training for midfielders.

Has anyone noticed the formation working for 1 season, but then the next it just implodes? This is the 3rd time (each with 3 different tactics) where I've noticed a tactic I use for 1 season and excel with, but the next season it just becomes really ****.

Just like Rich_genie says, it train all the right attributes in defence and attack.. I train my MC also as BoxtoBox. but wondering in wich role i would train my DM. any idea some1?

i want to ask if a player is AMR is it a problem to play him as MR or first i should train him as MR. I as cuz the rock classic is using MR ?

Here we go, my end of season with Newcastle.
Not been on FM much since I left Chesterfield for Newcastle, been pretty busy.

Won promotion via the playoffs, only lost 2 games since I took Newcastle over (My first game in charge was the 4-0 win over Birmingham) :

Oh yeah, a small thing I forgot to mention.. I also won the FA Cup. :D
It's great to use this tactic with a strong team, and a team where I feel safe to throw money around without having to worry about damaging the club in the longterm, like I did at Chesterfield.

First time Newcastle have won a major competition since 1969 when they won the Europa League.. and 1955 when they last won the FA Cup.

I turn up for half a season, and thanks to this fantastic tactic I end that misery, with a Newcastle side playing in the Championship.

Hello again. Quick update from my Inter game. After winning everything in my 2nd season I was expecting not so easy 3rd season mainly because of the tight schedule. I won't post many screenshots, just short summary:

Transfers in (most important): 50% of Handanovic for 4M; Ron Vlaar, Blaise Matuidi and Christian Eriksen on free transfers 8-| + 11,25M for Sime Vrsaljko. Loaned in: Micah Richards, Javi Garcia, Gary Cahill and Affelay.

Competitions:
Serie A - Winner Although I couldn't achieve my awesome record from the 2nd season (33-5-0 78-13) I managed to win the league with 11 points difference. My record this season was 28-7-3 and goal difference 80-15. In march I had bad streak - loses to Milan, Juve and Pescara and from that point I started giving the team talks by myself and it worked in the end.
TIM Cup (Italian Cup) - Lost in the 1/2-finals but I played Reserves squad because of the schedule
Italian Super Cup - Won against Juventus 4-2
European Super Cup - Won 3-0 against Stuttgart
Club World Cup - Walkover with 6-0 and 4-1 wins
Champions League - As I won surprisingly last season 1/4-final was my target this year. The group was won by me after 4 wins and 2 draws. Then I got Atletico M. After 0-0 in Madrid I managed to win 3-0 with Falcao's brace against his former team. Then I got lucky to get Marseille who knocked out Chelsea. Two wins 6-0 and 1-0 and I was through to the semi-final. My opponent was Manchester United and they won the first game in Milan 1-2 after poor performance from my full backs. The second leg was amazing. I am uploading the screenshot from the game:

You can imagine my frustration when I had to play with 10 men... but as in the previous year's final a goal in the very last second and caboom!!! :D The final against Bayern was won 3-2 although I had to win with more but my players hit the woodwork twice and Neuer made some impressive saves.

For the third time - Rock Classic rocks!

Hi! Will the tactic, rock classic work on the original game ? Without any patch on it ?

Just like Rich_genie says, it train all the right attributes in defence and attack.. I train my MC also as BoxtoBox. but wondering in wich role i would train my DM. any idea some1?

i have mine as Deep Lying PlayMaker

Hey everyone (particularly Mr.Langvatn),
This tactic is amazing, best I have used so far, unbeaten in first 11 league games, 2 draws.
I am really picky and my only problem is, RVP has just stopped scoring, he started of well, 5in4, but hasn't scored since, and ha has played 11, my top scorer is Strootman and rooney, both being played in the CM positions with 7 goals each.
I have downloaded the tactic from the link on OP, so, is there anything I should have done/ can do to increase his goal tally?
Thank you in advance.
PS, is there anything that anyone has done since dl'ing the tactic that didn't come with it originally?

Hello.
1st of all congrast for Mr. Langvatn for all his hard work on the creation of the tactics.

i just got one question. i downloaded the 4141 rock classic since is the one everybody talks about being the most successful around here if i'm not wrong hehe the question is: the focus of the pass on team instructions is through the middle, if i change this to mixed or by the flanks , it destroys the tactic? im asking this because generally the center is where the field is more populated, and if played against teams with short width won't the tactic struggle a bit? thanks in advance and keep up the good work :)

ps: sorry for bad English since i'm Portuguese :)

edit: in this same tactic 4141 rock classic what kind of player should the striker be? powerhouse target man or a quick technician striker?

thanks :)
