Mr Langvatn's Tactic Thread (Updated for 13.3.3)

I have to say the rock classic 4141 is the best tactic of Mr L. Been using for different saves and all led me to success. Good job Mr L. Now with the corner setup the tactic is even better!

The thing I like about the tactic is that when you are favoured to win, you dominate the other team wildly in every match stat. The thing I don't like about it (because of the formation), is that you really have no chance to win over stronger opposition if playing away :P

Sacchi's 4-4-2 is probably a better overall tactic than this, because it works with more teams (because the formation is a much more stable one). But on the other hand, I have better ones for that. So maybe the best thing is to follow my recommendations on the front page. Start small, end big. The 4-2-3-1 really demands your team to be favourites, or it won't work.

have you tested it with other teams? Oh and I'm sorry if I missed it but I don't see a screen shot of your players stats from the Man Utd season, I would be interested to see who got the goals and assists in your 4-2-3-1. Gonna try the rock classic with the new corners when I get back from my holiday, should be interesting to see if it really is better, I had Strandberg score 20 league goals in a season using the old corners.

Another update from me... just finished my 2nd season as Newcastle.

Well, I only went and won the Treble - Premier League, F.A Cup & Carling Cup!

Didn't think I was going to get the league - I was up and down but went on a 12 game winning streak at the end of the season and won it on the last day!

Not quite as impressive in the League as the last season (http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...-thread-updated-13-3-3-a-277.html#post1789823) - less goals scored, more conceded but it's the trophies that matter in the end isn't it?!

What made it all the better was that Sunderland got relegated too!

In case anyone was wondering, I dropped Villa as soon as he said he was leaving... don't want anyone who doesn't want to be here playing!

Fitness concern

Hey guys,

Having read the understanding the odds thread I can see how this set will work very well. My only concern is pre-season training.

I like to start unemployed and work my way up to bigger clubs. Currently I'm with Hayes and Yeading and after 3 months my players are cream crackered with fatigue. I do rotate them as best as I can but my squad is smallish to try and keep finances in check.

Using the newly posted 100% fluid pre-season strategy.....will that help or hinder player fitness? With part time teams you can't adjust the slider.

Just interested to hear people's thoughts really!

It will of course demand more of your players in pre-season, but you can just rest them a bit before league start and no problem.

Here you go mate

what type of strikers are used for the 2-5-3?

two advanced forwards, one complete forward

Having real mixed results with the 4-1-4-1 Rock currently. Playing as Fiorentina, seems to be more effectively away from home, so might try the stonewall attack at home unless Mr Langvatn you can suggest a better combination. Will also add the new corner versions to see if this helps. What kind of striker should I be looking for, as Jovetic is not effective at all.

A complete forward type of player. Physical stats are important.

Whats the player roles for the 4-2-3-1?

There are no roles in classic tactics. That's why I prefer classic :P Don't have to think about roles.

also, with the 3 striker formations, i notice the wide strikers have the instruction to "hug touchline"

should you put left foot on left right foot on right, or invert them

and would the central striker need to be a pacey poacher or a more complete forward

Central forward=complete forward, the others should be advanced forwards. I think leftfoot on left and inverted both have their own strengths. Try it out :)

you could do exactly the same 4-2-3-1 but normal version not classic?
And for that I am french for individual training to the French because I do not understand English I used a translator ^ ^

Ye, maybe later :) Kinda need a tiny break atm :)

MR L do you think the filters for the rock will be useful for the Sicilian defence?

I don't think that it's necessary. Classic tactics work for most player types.

Hi Mr L

Just wanted to ask a few questions with regards to the Sicilian defense. I've been using it and been winning loads. Serie B with Bassano and the Italian Cup! (I switched to the rock and the 2-5-3 for some games though).

I found the Sicilian defense really vulnerable to long balls over the top though with a pacy striker. Perhaps my defenders are not fast enough.

From the team instructions, I see that it plays a high line with own half pressing, I would think that a high line should be follow with a high press?

Everything may not be logical, it's a game and not real life :) I just try everything and keep what works best :)

thanks for the quick and accurate responses, much appreciated, going to try a few different approaches with the wide strikers and see what works best

Hey Mr L.
I should re-word my previous question, i ment what sort of players should we be looking at for the 4-2-3-1 I.e. the cml is he more dlp or box2box, Wingers or inside forwards that sort of thing..........Also the wingers are they inverted or doesn't it matter.

Also thanks for all your hard work.
