Mr Langvatn's Tactic Thread (Updated for 13.3.3)

All my tactics are purely plug and play, and just general FM knowledge will be more than enough to complement it. There are several general FM threads, try out the ones by TheBetterHalf, one of the mods :)
I've won the Champions League and all of cups with Galatasaray 4-1-3-2 Gambit but I used different tactic in difficult away matches.

Seen some of the review of your 4-1-3-2 Gambit tactics, it look fantastic! Shall give that a try. Btw, Mr L... I could be wrong though but if I'm not, I think I saw some post that the Gambit tactic is a bit leaky at the defence and thus, resulting in high amount of goals conceded, is that problem solved? Btw, I intend to use 3 of the tactic made by you, I'm using Man United. Do you mind recommending 3 tactics for my season. It will be very much appreciated! Thx, Elvin.

There is no problem to solve really. Can't have the same stability in such an offensive tactic. But for Man Utd you should be fine. Maybe get the 3-6-1 sicilian defense or the rock against the big teams when playing away.

Alright, I understand. I'm using 2-5-3 V2 as my main, rock classic and 3-6-1 as the other 2. Regrading training and match preparation, are they all the same that are posted at the OP?

I experiment with new stuff all the time. Just look at the general training threads to get a clue, and make your own choices. That's my best advice really :)

Hello Mr Langvatn,

I tested the Gambit tactic with Man Utd = great success(season 2012/2013) .
Only 9 goals conceded in 28 games :))))
Played the same tactic home and away.
Training , general=tactics and att. movement.

I also noticed if I train my players with individual training ,the tactic is not so efficient (not so many ccs, also the tempo was slower, the players were playing like blind men :))...etc) so I removed the individual training for each player = beautiful football again.

where is this review? Keep searching the OP but cant find a whole lot on the 4-1-3-2 gambit tactic.

Im quite interested in it, purely because ive literally just been appointed Feyernoord manager and the transfer window is shut and I cant get the Rock Classic to fit as they have virtually no players who can play ML or MR. They have plenty of AML/R players though which has really interested me to the Gambit tactic. Just wondered if theres more information for this tactic, training & prep etc...

Just plug and play mate :)

Still killing it with the rock classic, tried all the other tactics and still none beat the rock! Even did a test with Bayern Munich and Rock beat the 253 v2 by 1 point and scored 6 more goals over 10 games. The gambit failed misserably, lost 2 and drew 2 out of the 10 compared to 9 wins 1 draw for the rock and 9 wins 1 defeat for 253 v2.

Out of interest I also tested the rock with original corner settings and the new settings and in 10 games with the old set up I scored 8 goals but with the new set up I only scored 3 in 10 games. I think you made a mistake changing the corner settings on all the tactics, I think the reason the new set up did so well is because you had Vidic as the target, I think he would score just as many if not more with the old set up.

fantastic. Well ill give Gambit a try. Was really hoping to use Rock Classic (wouldve worked a treat at my old club AGOVV) but until the next window when I can try recruit some ML & MR I better not give it a go. Hate playing players out of position and getting the red circle by them.

10 games isn't enough to rule out rng. even a whole season isn't :P And that it beat the rock with bayern is no shock, cause it takes a season to get the players to fit the 2-5-3 :P

Hmmm I dunno, Bayern have 2 great wing backs and centre backs, Kroos, Sweinsteiger, Martinez are more than good enough as the dms and I wouldn't say Mandzukic, Gomez and Muller are too shabby as the 3 strikers! Can't really get much better than that. Did the usual test with Derby too and it wasn't nearly as effective as with Bayern. Oh and like I said the 253 and Rock only had a 1 point difference so not much between them and I'm sure if I played the 10 games again the results could be reversed. The queens gambit one was not a patch on the rock or the 253 though. The gambit seemed poor away from home.

I don't think the gambit is efficient in Germany. Tried that too, no success. With Man Utd it's crazy good. Saw the guy linking results after 20 matches? goal diff 50-4, and he used it both home and away.

After 10 matches with Bayern using Rock Classic my goal difference stood at 37-1 :D The 253v2 had a goal difference of 31-3 although the extra 6 goals came from corners. I bet I can beat that over 20 games with Man Utd :P will give it a go tomorrow with both Rock and the 253v2.

Edit: If I have time, I'm having an 80's movie party :D

80's movie party sounds awesome lol :)

Going to start a game with crystal palace as they are my local team. Doing a scenario whereby the club have just been taken over by a rich sugar daddy chairman who has injected millions into the club (Think Man City/QPR).

I will probably keep my reputation the same, so i won't be getting the most amazing players but they will be significantly better than what palace already have to offer.

My questions is, which tactic would be best for this type of challenge?

This is just me, but any team any division any challenge I'd always start with Rock Classic. Switch to Attacking Movement and you will eventually dominate the league
