Hi Guys.
Sorry to ask such a direct question, however I am preparing to go into my second season with Valencia and due to inconsistent form using my own tactics last season I have decided to adopt the 4-1-4-1 Rock Classic tactic. I used it towards the end of last season and it seemed reasonably solid (despite folding like a wet newspaper in the last 7 mins of the Europa League final), the problem I am having like a lot of tactics is getting the best out of my No. 1 Asset - Roberto Soldado.
I have thoroughly researched this tactic and have built and prepared my team to use this tactic for the whole of the coming season. I firmly believe if I can utilise Soldado I can compete in all competitions. I used the tactic as a "plug & play" all as explained last year and although solid, Soldado has been terrible, low match ratings, non existent goal scoring, penalty misses, red cards etc.
Now I know morale is playing a big part in his performances, however, he has never been "at the races" using this tactic. In fact we have fallen out over it and I am really struggling to select him. However, I am going to back down to him and try to get the best out of him as I am trying to get as many Spanish players in my team as possible, therefore I need to pick your brains.
If I use RS as a Target Man, what should his role be? I am leaning towards Poacher/Complete Forward with Target Man supply being set as "Run on to the ball". Can anyone else help me in turning my striker into a big gun rather than a misfiring spud gun?
