Why Premier League? Bundesliga is much more competition.

Not quite there yet, but they're definietely on the rise. Bayern beating PL clubs to hottest manager name on the market is just one example that PL needs to be on its toes.

Totaly agree mate...PL does need to keep on its toes..its all really to do with players, an if Bale leaves its another true World class player gone!
But i dont really see any league surpassing PL...well for a long time anyways, just because of how we distribute the money around the division :)
Pep wants always easy life, an lets face it who doesnt ( if you had a choice)? He only wants top job in any league..an no matter who you support..the top team is Man U in PL (3 year deal sits well with Fergie retiring).

He doesnt have to prove himself to anyone but himself, an if hes happy with that...then he can continue being succesfull(?) without ever testing himself! I hope he does..

Sorry but if u compare the way the leagues play you must admit bundesliga is more attractive. There is much more balance, even bayern is top this season, but there are so many other teams who still can beat them. prem league is nearly like every season, top 5 and the rest. And honestly, u can see how strong a league is if u see how the national teams play...sorry again ;)

Actually, the past 3-4 years have surprised me in the premier league. The top 5 comment was bullshit. The competition for champions league football has never been so high since the premier league started.

The top 5 has definitely NOT been the same for the past 3-4 years my friend, although I will agree that the Premier League has gotten slightly weaker.

Just because some might not have heard of them here, doesnt make them any less of a player, they were very good players. The success made them household names, but they were already very good players. And while what he did was great, the fact is with all the quality Barca have had over the years, no one did what Pep did. Everyone forgets that neither Xavi or Iniesita were actually playing particularly well. Messi was going places but nothing like what he has become. The club wasnt actually a particularly happy place.

Portos run at the time was United, Lyon, Deportivo, Monaco. Tough but not exactly insurmountable
That's not entirely true though is it. Rijkaard may not have had as much success but the fact that someone who is clearly a fairly abysmal manager managed to win two league titles and a champions league trophy with them does cast some doubt as to how important the manager is at Barcelona.

I think Guardiola did a fantastic job at Barcelona and he's clearly a talented coach but I don't think he's proven himself really until he's shown he can do it outside of Barcelona.

Two league titles and CL, doesnt match up to the records Pep set though? thats the point I'm making. He quite clearly took them to another level.

He also quite clearly had another level of players with which to work with. The likes of Ludovic Giuly, Edmilson and Mark Van Bommel were good players, but their counterparts in Pep's team blew them out of the water.

Pep spent his whole life at Barcelona. This was a club where he understood the fans, culture and mentality perfectly. Add the fact that he had a group of immensely talented if underperforming players at his disposal and was an astute tactician, his remarkable success does not really come as a surprise.

It is definitely unfair to write off his success being just down to the player as he quite clearly took them to another level but I also feel that he needs to show he can do it at another club before we put him in the same bracket as SAF and Mourinho.

Doesn't work like that at all, in fact England hasn't won **** in 50 years, while Germany is arguably most successful national team during that period, but club results in Europe are the other way around.

This is exactly what I've been saying.

He's undoubtedly a good manager, but he's still an enigma. This is his chance to show what he can do outside of an environment that was absolutely perfect for him.

Bayern is basically his first real job though. Club legend always has it a lot easier, just look at adventures of certain baldie in Chelsea - let go of Essien and Meireles leaving mid badly exposed, didn't even seem aware of tactical issues team faced - no problem, still a superhero, only fired because of bad corporate culture.

The difference is...with a club you can win titles easier with money (didnt mean man city :D). the whole premier league is just capitalism, just money. no team has got a positiv balance without a sugardaddy or?? if you can spend millions of millions of players u can buy a succesful team, but you cant buy players to play for a specific country. And thats why germany was and still is one of the big players in world football and england (im sorry to write this) won nothing (exept 1966 ;)

and so im still prefer watching a championship game more then a prem league game

Not always true. You can spend a fortune but that doesn't always guarantee success at all-in fact, you can buy a fortunes worth and they may not gel and in fact, could disrupt everything. Sometimes a season.

Well we were talking about quality of games, what does it matter if its achieved with money, what are you, a hippie? I don't really care if the clubs achieve success through slavery and drug trafficking, as long as the games are good.

Plus, you know, Bayern isn't exactly frugal spender either.

Yeah, £93 million in the last two years. They're not quite thrifty.

Premiership is Full of money and thats it. FIFA World XI proves this and atleticos demolition of chelsea, bilbaos demolition of united last year and citys embaressing performance in the UCL, germany will win euro 2016 and dominate for another 6-8 years in my opinion. england will never be top of world football for a long long long time IF EVER.

Wrong. Premiership is full of talent too, aswell as plenty of money which should be better distributed aswell. And to say Germany will win Euro 2016 is shortsighted.

So to say Premiership is full of money and that's it....na

Every top European league is full of money, why do people act like the PL is the devil for selling a product and using the money from it? Madrid are built on money and have been a graveyard for incredibly talented players as a result for years. Barca spunked £50m on Ibra and got half back a year later. Serie A were some of the first big spenders in football, the downfall of the Milan clubs this year is down to them having to sell their big earners because they can no longer afford it. And then as GC points out, Bayern spent almost £100m in 2 years. But no, it's all the PL.
