Well, I know you and SI have always said that the match engine doesn't cheat and makes no distinction between the player's and the AI's side because it literally doesn't know (and of course controls both), but does that mean the rest of the game is build up in the same way? Things happen without the AI knowing whether or not they happen to a player controlled team?

Because if that is the case, than of course what I suggested might be going on, is indeed far harder if not impossible to pull off.

Yea, pretty much. It's why no difficulty level can exist in its current state. There are a few things you can tweak, such as trying to make the AI more or less aggressive in the market, but again if you were to use a DOF for example to make all your deals, then the same changes would occur to him.. The closest you can get to a difficultly level is your starting rep. It's actually so much hard work, it honestly wouldnt benefit them to do it even if they wanted to.

Infectious injuries and the higher numbers of red cards, penalties and injuries in big games do not equal a difficulty setting, but it does make it seem like the game is scripted to laugh at you from time to time.

Nicklas Bendter leading the golden boot race in EPL as Arsenal sold Giroud and he's their only striker. Now can I say ME is broken? /jk

Wenger in post match press conference after Wigan game

"ME is broken, we couldn't win against Wigan despite dominating, hitting woodwork too much, SI won't fix the broken ME. THEY STOLE OUR MONEY."

Sarcasm, as obvious as it gets.

To put end to business of tin-foil hat brigade

There's often one more complaint "My world class center back made awful and hilarious mistake with GK in an all important match, the ME is rigged and it cheats."

Vincent Kompany handed winner to Liverpool today with an awful clearance.

I know this is a "Post your frustration thread" and I myself have had genuine frustrations and often post them, but some of the stuff being posted in last few days has been atrocious. Conspiracy theories, baseless blaming and what not.

SI tried their best to emulate the real life game, it isn't exactly possible to copy paste how things work, there are goings to be one or two bugs but some comments go too far. Cheerio.

this isn't really a frustration it's just a point of discontent that i didn't know where else to make.

basically i don't think players stats should drop if they're not playing regularly, the players should just somehow lose form and have to work to regain it. in real life players don't get worse (have their pace, work rate, first touch decrease) just because they have been benched, they still have the same ability they just are a tad rusty. because i play a strict one game in one game out rotation system, i have players stats who drop because they have only played half the games, which is a tad unfair i think. Fair enough if it stops young players reaching their full potential that is fair enough and i accept that but i think have players stats drop is not realistic. when adebayor did not play for spurs for the first half of the season he did not become a worse player

Well... they can, to be honest. Look at Demba Ba for one example, he was very good at Newcastle, but lack of playing time has negatively effected his first touch and his finishing ability.

>playing second season with Liverpool
>losing 6-2 from Norwich
>Sterling best player these two seasons
>Suarez GTFO in the summer

Why don't full backs know how to mark? Have them set as mark tighter and even the slowest player in the world manages to get through behind them and score 9 times out of 10

The game is totally flawed, simple as that. I win 3-0 away at Liverpool without them having a single shot on goal, then the following week I lose 3-0 at home to Stoke without me having a single shot on goal, playing the same team and same tactics. There is no consistency in the game what so ever. If anybody wants a tip then either play the game without setting ANY tactics what so ever. Just choose a formation and pick your team each week. Leave everything else as it is. I guarantee you'll win more games. OR go back and play FM 2010, which was the last decent version of the game. Anybody that says they are tactical mastermind on this game is lying. It is not possible to win using real tactical football knowledge. Results are generated before the game is even played. Why? I don't know.

Get a grip. You're insinuating that you have "real tactical football knowledge". If you think the space available to you to tactically exploit is the same vs Liverpool at Anfield to Stoke away from home will be the same, then you're lacking the knowledge. You seem to forget that there are 11 other players on the pitch. While you didn't change players or tactics, they will certainly be playing VERY differently against you. Something to consider.

How do you play the game, Clarkaldo? Do you play in Classic Mode or with the full 3D visuals? And do you watch the matches on brief highlights or with the Comprehensive view?

I'm a seasoned veteran of all kinds of footie sim games, including ChampMan and many-FMs-of-years-passed. I was frustrated with FM14 to begin with, primarily because none of my tactical changes seemed to have any kind of discernible effect on the matches I was watching. But being a naturally calm, dogged type of person, I stuck with it, read the forums and listened to some advice in an FM-related podcast and finally got to grips with it.

I've been trying to help those struggling with FM14, partly as a writing exercise in itself (in keeping with my professional ambitions) and partly because I know that 29 or 35 quid is a lot of money for a game you can't play! So I have created the three threads linked below... and there are plenty of other threads in the same sections of the forum from likeminded FMers, who are getting on better with this game, too. Each has generated some useful feedback from other users, so I invite you to take a look and, even if you don't adopt my tactics verbatim, at least incorporate some of the ideas into your thinking:

http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...1-real-4-4-2-how-i-learned-play-triangle.html

http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...ics/158222-you-need-more-than-one-tactic.html

I play on the Comprehensive view with the full 3D graphics. And I think I have detected a trend on this forum that those who play the briefer form of the game are struggling much more, because they can't genuinely see how their instructions - and how their altered tactics - are playing out in the matches themselves. In the third of those links, I mentioned that I based all three tactics on the same defensive unit, and that helped me to see how my decisions affected the outcome.

I've just seen my striker on an 1v1 with the keeper, turning left and passing the ball to the fullback
instead of shooting, rounding the keeper, whatever...
This is FM14.

I couldn't resist to record the replay with fraps, if anyone interested PM me or reply.
