Sorry I would like to respond but all I get when I try is a message saying:

Get a grip. You're insinuating that you have "real tactical football knowledge". If you think the space available to you to tactically exploit is the same vs Liverpool at Anfield to Stoke away from home will be the same, then you're lacking the knowledge. You seem to forget that there are 11 other players on the pitch. While you didn't change players or tactics, they will certainly be playing VERY differently against you. Something to consider.

So in real life a team would go to Anfield and have 22 shots on goal without conceding one on their own goal yet the following week the exact same team wouldn't manage one shot on goal at home to Stoke? Never in a million years mate.

For FM15 how's about you make this type of thing more of an exception than a rule:

And please stop perpetuating the complete and utter lie that the ME doesnt know that which team is the players. 8 times out of 10 the player's team is the one the ME is ********.

No, in real life that wouldn't happen because the real life manager is competent enough to change his approach.

It's the truth. You just need to come to terms with the fact that you're obviously not Mourinho and ask for some advice. If the AI team is scoring 2 in 2 CCCs and this happens regularly, you're too open at the back.

No, in real life that wouldn't happen because the real life manager is competent enough to change his approach.

Also, I do change my approach for almost every game I play but all that happens is my formation competency level goes down and I play worse. I read in one forum the worst thing that you can do on the game is keep changing your tactics... so which one is it? You are obviously Mourinho so enlighten us? Tell us your secret? Let me guess... you have none because you are struggling like the rest of us.

How do you play the game, Clarkaldo? Do you play in Classic Mode or with the full 3D visuals? And do you watch the matches on brief highlights or with the Comprehensive view?

I'm a seasoned veteran of all kinds of footie sim games, including ChampMan and many-FMs-of-years-passed. I was frustrated with FM14 to begin with, primarily because none of my tactical changes seemed to have any kind of discernible effect on the matches I was watching. But being a naturally calm, dogged type of person, I stuck with it, read the forums and listened to some advice in an FM-related podcast and finally got to grips with it.

I've been trying to help those struggling with FM14, partly as a writing exercise in itself (in keeping with my professional ambitions) and partly because I know that 29 or 35 quid is a lot of money for a game you can't play! So I have created the three threads linked below... and there are plenty of other threads in the same sections of the forum from likeminded FMers, who are getting on better with this game, too. Each has generated some useful feedback from other users, so I invite you to take a look and, even if you don't adopt my tactics verbatim, at least incorporate some of the ideas into your thinking:

http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...1-real-4-4-2-how-i-learned-play-triangle.html

http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...ics/158222-you-need-more-than-one-tactic.html

I play on the Comprehensive view with the full 3D graphics. And I think I have detected a trend on this forum that those who play the briefer form of the game are struggling much more, because they can't genuinely see how their instructions - and how their altered tactics - are playing out in the matches themselves. In the third of those links, I mentioned that I based all three tactics on the same defensive unit, and that helped me to see how my decisions affected the outcome.

Thanks for your reply, I will read your posts and hopefully see some change. I play the full 3D version and always have my highlights set to comprehensive.

LOL, whatever mate. You are obviously delusional.
Are you trying to say that Liverpool at Anfield and Stoke away will play the same way? Liverpool will be more confident in their approach and commit more bodies forward, create more and bigger gaps for you on the counter. They'll probably press you more too, so if you can bypass that, then you'll have plenty of shooting opportunities.

Stoke playing away will be a lot more cautious. They won't commit that many men forward, so if you still counter hard and fast, you're going to run into a brick wall. You'll need to be more patient and create good movement between the lines because space will be limited and with good movement you can create your own gaps.

Still think it is delusional?

You can have more than 1 tactic that you learn at a time. Use it!

YES! I can't believe you can't. You are just getting confused pal. I am not saying that because I beat Liverpool 3-0 away having 22 shots on goal means I should hammer Stoke the following week in the same manner. That would be delusional in itself. You obviously don't play football so let me tell you something because I have played football for good clubs my entire life. If you beat a good team easily it gives you something called confidence. Confidence is what football is all about. A confident player will score a goal or create an assist, a non-confident player will miss the pass or hit the post. At the end of the day confidence is bred from getting good results and playing well as a team. I know from playing football that it wouldn't matter how cautious our opponents were if we had beat a good team the week before we would definitely manage a shot on goal. Tactics are not as important as you think in real life football. Confidence and morale is ten times more important. Look at Manchester United this season. Do you seriously think their failure this season is down to bad tactics by their management team!? NO. It's down to a number of things, primarily their lack of top class players but also due to a lack of confidence/morale. Sir Alex Ferguson himself said that the reason he left United when he did was because he felt the team wasn't good enough to win the league and the team needed a full rebuild, something that he didn't want to do. Good tactics can win pinch the odd game here and there, like when Chelsea beat Man City this season but in general Mourinho will stick to set tactics. No way will he change it for each game. Just use your eyes and watch the games. So are you saying that this game is all about tactics? If so it is unrealistic and I won't be playing it again.

I do. Let me try to explain better. I am not a noob at this game. I have played every Football Manager game ever released and recently they are getting worse and worse. Usually I begin a game in a lower division and try to get them into the PL. In the past this has taken me anything from 5 to 20 years in game time to achieve. At times I have never made it or I have been sacked due to poor performance. I have never been bothered with this in the past. This latest version is different though. From what you are saying it is starting to make sense to me though. You are saying the game is all based upon match tactics. This is not what football is all about as I have previously mentioned. I like to have complete control of everything. I believe the old games used to be based upon much more like: obtaining good quality members of staff and coaches, set your training levels correctly, deal with the media correctly, keep team spirit up and most importantly bring in the players that you need to suit your tactics. I found that fun and challenging at the same time. I loved the game for years. This game though is different. From what you are saying it doesn't matter what I have done. All what matters is game tactics. What I have done so far at Ipswich was not easy. I have played nine seasons to get where I am today, to build the squad I want and to bring in the best players that suit my tactics. It's not been easy at all and in previous games I would be reaping the reward for that hard work by winning games but on this game it doesn't happen. It doesn't matter if you have Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi and Ibrahimovic up front, you'll still lose to Stoke at home without even giving them a game. For the record I don’t have those three my team is as follows:

GK – Rodriquez (a generated world class goal keeper)
LB – Ben Davies
RB – Eliot Hewitt
CB – Rugani
CB – Balanta
CM – Crisetig
CM – Barkley
CM – Oliver
RW – Januzai
LW – Martial
ST – Doumbia (my target man)

I play an attacking, rigid formation with a direct style of play. I do change minor details when I play different teams but as stated previously I never see any difference overall.

That's your problem right there. Stoke away will be VERY defensive if you're a very good team. Playing very direct will just play right into their hands as they'll sit back and intercept these passes all day.

What you're trying to do, is pick a lock with a hammer. It can work, but you need to have a VERY good tactic and players that are really up for it. The better (imo) way is to be a little more patient with lots of movement between the lines to pull their defence apart.

This game needs to come with a tactical guide.
With a top tips section, including, "Have you just signed a 5-star striker for $30m? Are you paying him $200k a week? Better make sure he has a 'places shots' PPM, otherwise he'll play like a fuckwit and won't score for toffee."

You're welcome, mate. I hope you find some useful info in there and get some joy out of your game.

Not gonna buy any FM version anymore since the guys change ME every 2 months, which makes all the tactics ruined. also wanted to say somethin : TELL ME SOMETHING SI, IN WHAT KIND OF FOOTBALL CLUB MORALE IS ALL THAT MATTERS? you can get the best players in the world, get the best tactic in the world, morale is low? u get raped over and over again

And that isn't realistic because? Barca are the most recent example.. Their recent form causing a huge dip in morale, and their game was way off against Madrid. Improve your team morale by having a chat with your team, and through team talks, it helps;;
You don't always lose every game with low morale, but it happens..
