The problem, in the main, remains that CCCs are a description of when your striker should score. However, as we have all seen, strikers, even those with 18 finishing and composure, choose to shoot straight at the keeper, even when they have an entire goal to shoot at and the GK is stranded at the left post, they will shoot at the left post, even going so far as to shoot diagonally across the goal to shoot at him.

Also, an awful lot, the strikers shoot from close by, having drawn defenders and GK across, rather than passing across the box to an open team mate.

Finally, I have noticed in 3D anyway, that the striker can get the ball and then stop dead, allowing the opposition's defenders to tackle him.

The annoyance is that tactical shouts have little effect. Shoot less doesn't seem to work and strikers still want to shoot from miles out. However suggest they work the ball into the box, and the opposition defence just crowds your player out, who suddenly finds himself unable to control or pass the ball.

it get worse. I lost 4-3 when leading against athletico as real sociedad, when 3-0 up with them having had a man sent off. Although, tbf, I wasn't paying much attention at the time.

CCCs are an unreliable stat in FM, I've seen terrible headers from the outside the 6-yard box count as CCC. And as others have pointed out with their stats & research, the best teams and players only have a 25-40% conversion on their CCCs.

As far as shooting instead of passing, I have a similar issue, my forwards even in a supporting role rarely pass across instead of shoot. My midfielders and wingers do a good job of passing across box though.

Anything in 3D view is unreliable to watch because it's just a rendering of what is actually happening on the 2D pitch.

As for tactical shouts and player instructions, I've always found them to be quite effective.
 
Striker with 11 acceleration and 13 pace is outpacing my fullback with 17/17 acc pace. Players with 8 composure and 9 passing are able to play through balls when 4!!!!! of my players are pressing him like not giving a **** space to pass the ball.

I don't get it, it feels like stats mean nothing at one point.

Oh and Striker with 18 off the ball, 17 anticipation strays offside 9 times in a match.
 
Why are Man Utd so overrated in this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! even after the patch


hahahaha and now I just scored a goal but the referee took it back as there was a foul and I missed the penalty!!!!

I'm ecstatic for you. I've just played a game...and lost. I watched it, and whether in 3D or 2D, the shots from my strikers were all at the keeper, perhaps forcing him to dive one foot. Shooting when pinned in and masses of space for a simple cross goal ball for tap in. All the usual ****. Cross centre = crosses going out, going to near post and 1 going to middle. The one going to the middle, my 3...3 players didn't even try to header it.

One guy just ran on the spot for half a second with the ball whipped into him which allowed the AI to defend the ball. It's just preposterous. Render of 2D or not, the idea that someone with 17 crossing consistently puts the ball out when crossing is just damned stupid.

Here is the game. I lost 1-0 having watched the entire match, except for the last 3 minutes which I played in commentary only, and that's when they scored. ******* joke. I had 22 shots, they had 3. I had 8 shots on target they had 2. I watched each CCC and they were just straight at the keeper.

People with 17 shooting, from inside the area, shooting so wide that the ball crosses out beyond the penalty box. It's just mad.

Oh and their goal was straight at my keeper who fell over when the ball was coming at him and tipped it into the net.
 
Then what needs to be addressed is not the number of misses but the manner of misses. I'd wager that a lot of those missed shots from Messi and Ronaldo were not one-on-ones, six-yard sitters etc. I'd wager that their percentages for true clear cut chances are way above their average for all shots.

That's the stat we need to see.

I just told you that. I'll try to be more specific.

Ok, your team just played a match, you had 20 shots, 9 were on target (a CCC doesn't have to be a shot on target that doesn't turn into a goal, so these 9 shots are a bit irrelevant). Your team won the match 2-0, you scored 2 goals and you had along with these 2 goals, 2 more CCCs. Get it ? 2 goals and 2 CCC's (your team had 2 chances to score that didn't turn into goals).

Next match, your team won 1-0, and had 3 CCCs, scored 1 and missed 3 clear chances to score.
Now, let's do the math after these two matches. How many goals did your team scored ? 3 ! How many clear chances did your team have ? 5. Get it ?

This is one aspect of the question. Now, what you need is to know if the goals scored came from CCCs or not because as you said goals can be scored from various ways. What I've said is that a CCC is not a goal, is a chance to score goal and you can either miss it or not.

Indeed, I see players missing a chance in front of the GK and it's not logged as a CCC, balls hitting the posts also not logged as CCC's.

I think the relationship between TI and PI is not a clear: when we choose any player dole and duty there are PI automaticaly set (I'm ok with this), the same thing should happen when we set TIs. For instance, If I set a Look for Overlaps TI, my wingers should have a label on the Hold the Ball PI saying "Already Active for this role and duty". If I set a Hassle Opponents TI what's the logic to have a Press More PI available ???? These and other aspects creates confusion, it's something SI needs to improve.

Attributes and surroundings effect likeliness of an event, not eliminate the possibility entirely.

Then there's something up with your tactics if he's offside nine times a match. I played a truly horrible player - in the Gibraltarian league, no less - as a very attacking poacher and he strayed offside not more than about three or four times per game, despite having an anticipation of 5, off the ball of 6 and decisions of 3.

They got pretty huge current ability drops across the board. IIRC Ferdinand, Vidic, Young, Valencia, Kagawa, Nani, Evra and Giggs all got decreases ranging from light (Kagawa) to heavy (Ferdinand).

The offside thing is a bug in latest patch, maybe even recognized one? It's just frustration. I know offside trap can be avoided but it's been quite ridiculous in latest patch, regardless of the player.

They got pretty huge current ability drops across the board. IIRC Ferdinand, Vidic, Young, Valencia, Kagawa, Nani, Evra and Giggs all got decreases ranging from light (Kagawa) to heavy (Ferdinand).

Young was fairly over rated already, Kagawa has only improved, his passing went from 14 to 16. Nani has 19 dribbling and 14/15 dribbling IIRC, he doesn't perform that's nothing thing, because of his shoots from distance PPM, CA might be the only thing decreased, attributes are more or less same. Valencia/Ferdinand's stats I'll accept have been reduced. Evra s still frigging boss, he's nowhere near that good IRL now. Even Fallaini's have decreased a bit If I'm right?

Carrick too is still way too good, Smalling etc.

Also regarding my first point, some players just don't have the ability to do something, or vision to pick a pass in real life and it is highlighted in their stats, but they still manage to do somehow. I realize how it works but you can be **** sure that Nemanja Vidic can't possibly catch Eden Hazard from halfway of the pitch.
 
There are still problems with offsides: player passes the ball from a short corner to the other player that comes closer, this one passes back to the first player and it's offside. Now, considering that it's a corner and the opponent team has two players at the posts, no way it's offside. Sent a pkm yesterday to SI mentioned this issue.
