Maybe I'm just getting too old for this game but I'm getting bored and frustrated. I guess I used to like the ease with which you could play the game and get enjoyment. I'd love setting up a nice formation and then watching it ride out good results. This latest version though I find myself having to tweak the tactic with every game and it bores me. I want to set up a good tactic and let it do the work, instead one game it'll work perfect, the next I'll have to radicalize it to get the result and it just feels like too much work.

I fear this will be the end because the game just demands too much of my time now. I wish they'd pull it back a bit but alas, I guess I'll be spending more time on my PS3...

You can still just plug & play a tactic (without adapting to what you see on the pitch) and get really good results. What you cant do though is expect to win and dominate every single game. My best suggestion is to take the losses and just carry on.

I thought i had this recorded, but its not where it's supposed to be. But the ball gets cleared towards my goal, my GK is standing on about the 8 yard line as it bounces towards him, and he stands there. At the last moment he pulls out some heroics, and DIVES for the ball, stopping it, but despite the fact that that the ball has covered about 2/3rds of the field and was rolling into the penalty area, he couldn't control it. The ball bounced off him, and an opposing player ran up and but pushed the ball wide of the net.

Had that resulted in a goal. I think i would've dropped out to the main interface, terminated his contract right there in the middle of the match, and found some security to escort his tail out of the stadium.

Agents.

Been trying to tie this guy down on a long term contract for the last year and a half:

But it doesn't even let me into negotiations, the player hasn't even come out and said he wants to leave at the end of his contract and he's not 'unhappy'... Then I checked his agent:

HATRED. What the ****** ****. I would happily make his player the best paid at the club, he has been that good for me, but I've not even had the chance to, and its January now and foreign clubs can offer him a pre-contract (thankfully non yet). FM14 can't come quick enough with the 'ask player to sack agent' option, seriously ******* me off.

Where did you get the ESPN skin??
From >>>here<<<

It could be being 3-0 up and its in the last minutes of the game, he simply does not bother trying to get to the ball before it goes over the line. If he is complecent at that moment along with a lowish stat in Work rate, then he wont put in the effort.
It could also be a combination of this and his anticipation+decision stats. Naturally, as as can only see the pictures and now the speed the ball has, these are just speculations
The ball didn't cross the line and he put the effort in to run 20 yards but gave up with 5 yards to go?
Anticipation 16, decisions 13, workrate 12

Granted the game was almost over but this does happen less than often but more than enough.
Its like players who take corners seem unwilling to chase balls that are cleared near to them, he'll just stand idly while their playter collects the ball from under his nose.

I have had multiple players sack their agents just because they wouldn't agree on my terms :D
I'm the boss.

So.. I'm Tottenham and im facing Stoke at home. I dominate thet game completley out playing and out shooting them. 18 shots and 12 on target. They manage 1 and 1 on target. So I win the game 1-0 last minute goal from a corner. Yay.. So i think to my self, i wonder if i can win the game with more goals. I play the game again, this time drawing them, after again dominating the game. so i play the game again. draw again. and again, this time winning 1-0, but Bale decided to get injured for 3 months. so i play it again.... draw.... I'm up to my 7th game against this amazing Stoke team, and i'm absolutley raging!

Another fun thing i noticed is that my defensive midfielder gets a yellow card in every game..
Im starting to think this is my destiny, because im in second, 1 point behind man utd, and im not allowed to win.

Let me just say, that i know its cheating, and i usually dont cheat, but this has become a project for me now.

In this example, I would say that if you totally dominate the matches but fail to produce, it's down to that your opponents are in better form, more motivated, more fired up and your players simply are not.
Now, as all these variables will be the same every time you reaload, you will struggle 9 times out of 10.

Naturally, there is a tactical aspect to but as I don't know you or Stoke are playing, it's hard to say if its because you are playing in the hands of them, them being better in defending than you are in creating really good chances. If combining this with that they are better prepared, then scenarios like this are not uncommon in matches where they are letting you dictate the match but are just more up for the task than you.

1. How can I win the PL title with Chelsea when Man City did 17-3-0 till January? It's ridiculous!

2. Chelsea - Bolton
shots 36-0, ball possession 68-32, score 0-0

Chelsea (2nd) - QPR (20th)
shots 28-5, ball possession 65-35, score 0-1, the only win for QPR in 20 matches.

***** like these happen at least 7-8 times every season.

Some of you say, maybe your strikers are well-marked, you need to find alternative ways to score, but that's silly! If Falcao, Mata, Sneijder and Hazard cannot create chances and score goals, I don't know who can!
How is it possible that Falcao, who has finishing 19, off the ball 18, is not more efficient than some retarded low-team strikers?
How is it possible that my defenders, each of them having marking, positioning, tackling and other defensive attributes 17+ are not able to prevent opponents from scoring almost each game?
Also, I thank God each time when Petr Cech saves a shot! It's almost impossible!

Same player, same attributes. When he's called a "poacher" he knocks them in for fun, yet call him an "Inside Forward" and from the same situation he couldn't hit a barn door with a machine gun!

Look at it from another point of view, what would you do if you where Q.P.R or Bolton playing against Chelsea?
Attack? or, sit with men behind the ball and hope to nic a goal from a set piece or something?
Maybe a little management double bluff is called for, sit back and play deeper and less attacking because they likely think that's how your going to play. Pull them out of defence, draw them forwards and counter them.

To play counter-attacks at Stamford Bridge against a team which haven't managed to win a single match in half a season? No Chelsea manager would do that!
I understand they play defensively but I don't understand how our 30 shots are not enough to win, but their 3 shots are. Their players are incredibly accurate! About 50% of their shots on target are goals! This is not the case in a few matches but in almost every game!

A few days later we host another bottom table team, I use the same players, the same tactics, but this time is a 5-0 win for us!

Dont look at the Counter strategy as being cautious and defensive. It's actually possible to play patient possession football within it.If using lots of width, high press, many players moving from deep positions, advanced players stretching the defence an moving between the lines, using a slowish tempo without too many playera running with the ball and making t-balls ( pass to feet, play through defence), then you will stretch their defence and create space in a probing manner. When the counter option is on, the attacks will be more swift.

Use the analyse tool for those games. Where your chances really dangerous ( tight angels, people blocking the shots, lack of movement, shots taken as the last option from our wide )? If the players keeps missing poor chances, they( might) get frustrated /anxious /angry etc and then they are even more likely to miss the next chance..repeat...leading to a vicious circle.

When you see these scenarios, how do you react as a match coach, what changes do you make to your tactic ( let's say in the 25th or 64th minute) ?

Also, if you want me to take a look at it, upload the pkms of these 2 mentioned matches along with your tactic and I will make some more exact suggestions as WHAT to change and how to recognise WHEN to do it.

Remember that City brilliant record would not have been this good if their manager had not made the needed adjustments in time.

And that's more or less why you lost.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not having a go, I have posted many similar things in this thread myself. And every time time I was told tactics and man management and to show more cunning and not just put a side of superstars out throw them forward and expect/demand they win.

Edit, I'm not tactical wiz but TBH is, Listen to her.

I frustrate myself on this game. I like to win but I'm too lazy to put the effort in with tactics and have been on such a bad run after a few good seasons.

I'm going back to FM2012. It's honestly just more fun for me because it is less challenging. Some people want realism, I want to not have a game make me feel like an idiot.

Aaaaaaab-so-lute bullcrap...

Comfortable 3-0 1st leg win... 2nd leg comes along, and both teams are doing nothing of any sort - and then, out of nowhere, in the space of ten minutes United score 3 goals, ALL from corners. Before this game I cannot for the life of me remember the last time I conceded a goal from a set piece/corner, let alone 3.

Into extra time I go...

EDIT: Lost on peno's. BRB while I lob myself off a bridge head first

Agree with this 100%, I think the balance between realism and fun has gone too far in the way of the former. They need to pull it back some because it just takes an age to get through this game and when you put in hours of prep to see your team c&ck it up the game feels like a massive waste of time - I never have that feeling playing a game on xbox or ps3 and I love FM, just wish it was a little more forgiving.
