rishmanisation's English Premier League Chairman Game (FM16 Edition)

Tottenham - The Season So Far

Premier League
We're definitely playing well, with only 2 league defeats all season - at home to Liverpool and away in the North London Derby of all games! However we have had good away wins at both Manchester clubs :D Too many draws though mean that we are still only 5th, but only 4 points off of 2nd so I'm not too disheartened.

League Cup
A fairly strong side put in a very good showing against Chelsea, and were unlucky to be knocked out AET. Prior to that, we had beaten Palace on penalties and comfortably put Leeds in their place :P

FA Cup
Even more straightforward - a 2-0 home win against Oldham followed by a 3-0 win at Newcastle. As of yet unknown who we will play in Round 5 - but hoping to reach the QF at least.

Europa League
Topped our group comfortably, and unbeaten. We do have a long away trip to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the 1st knockout round though - albeit one I expect us to win. 2nd Knockout round looks tougher - with either Southampton or Lazio waiting for us.

Player Performances
Two players who have stood out are Harry Kane and Bernardo Silva. Kane currently has 15 goals in 29 appearances - 14 of those coming in the league to make him joint top scorer with Aguero. Silva has simply been a revelation since joining - having scored 10 and created 9 in 27 games collecting 9 MotM awards along the way!

Player Happiness
The following players are currently unhappy - and will probably be on the Transfer List this summer:
Andros Townsend
Ryan Mason
Olivier Giroud - Pochettino doesn't see the value of playing someone with such amazing hair!
Gökhan Töre

Manager Safety
Pochettino is highly likely to keep his job - the 13 point gap between us and 6th almost guarantees us Europe. CL would be brilliant but he won't be sacked if he fails to get it. He will most probably be sacked if we fail to finish at least 5th.

Also, a question. What happens if one of our key players is sold IG to a BPL rival?
- Only asking as the Manchester clubs want Kane/Alli.

From my experience you just have to deal with it if you lose one of your key players because your manager decided to sell him. At least, that's how it was on last years chairman game (I'm 90% sure)

Yup, that's just part of the game. Sometimes your managers make **** decisions.

Simming has been done! Going to release February and March today! Expect the April update on Monday and the May update on Tuesday. Then we shall move on to end of season awards, chairmen of relegated clubs picking control of a promoted club and then on to the summer transfer window and Season 2!

Manchester City close the gap up top to just one point. Manchester United overtake Chelsea into 3rd place, although the Blues do have a game in hand due to their participation in the Capital One Cup final. Elsewhere, the once impressive Norwich City have fallen way off the pace, and are just five points above the drop zone.

Thoughts: Arsenal suffer a shocker at Goodison Park! Manchester City and Chelsea play out a great game, but the Citizens are ultimately too good for 10-man Chelsea. Elsewhere, Manchester United beat Tottenham in a game that could have serious implications in the fight for the CL spots come the end of the season.

Thoughts: Arsenal bounce back from their surprise defeat by blitzing the bottom team. Aston Villa manage to actually win a game, while Tottenham lose another game to a team challenging for Europe. Manchester City make light work of 10-man Stoke.

Thoughts: Manchester United and Crystal Palace play out a thoroughly entertaining game at Old Trafford, albeit a game United should have won easily. Elsewhere, Tottenham end their poor run of results, although they are forced to come from behind twice against a spirited Aston Villa side at Villa Park.

Eek. Simeone might make this title race very interesting. Hopfully Aguero is due a serious injury soon!

Glad United have come from a very poor start to the season and up into 3rd. And into the quarter finals of the FA cup. Disappointed we're 2-0 down against Juventus, but even if we do go out there's no shame to going out against the top team in Italy.

ASTON VILLA ARE NOT IN THE RELEGATION ZONE ANYMORE! SOMEBODY KNIGHT STEVE MCCLAREN ALREADY.

EDIT: Has been done w.e.f current save.

Oh, also a real tussle for third and fourth place in there.

Things are also really tight as Arsenal and Manchester City slug it out for the title: they're separated by just 3 points!

Also, in what is probably one of the closest seasons ever, all teams from seventh down are still in with a mathematical chance of getting relegated.

Tough loss in the Champions League, but like I said last page. Juventus are a good team and no shame in going out against them. Champions League place is looking secure for next season though, and the FA Cup could be within our grasp... Can't wait for the end of the season!

Gonna be considering Koeman's position now! He needs to turn it around quick!

Yeah Martinez is definitely under scrutiny now. Also Rish did the clubs get a financial boost due to registration issues? If so will this carry over to the summer?

I really don't approve of Chelsea and United getting knocked out of the CL... only going to help them in the league!

And will hurt the English ranking in Europe. Shame on you!

Jaap Stam, the ex-Man Utd defender, has had a fantastic start to his period as manager of the Swans leading them from 14th in the league, and only 6 points above the relegation places, up to 8th place, safe from relegation, and with a very slim chance of Europa Cup qualification.

January Round-up

VCc9WWa.jpg

A difficult start for Jaap Stam as he travels to third placed Chelsea, where Gyffi Sigurdsson scored the first goal of the Jaap Stam era. It was an equaliser to Oscar's 7th minute opener but unfortunately Diego Costa scored a second goal for Chelsea in the 78th minute. Diego then picked up a second yellow card 2 minutes later and was sent off but Swansea couldn't make the extra man count and Chelsea held out for a 2-1 victory.

Jaap Stam was finally introduced to the Swansea fans on the 17th January as Swansea welcomed Stoke to the Liberty Stadium. André Ayew scored his 7th goal of the season in the 55th minute to give Stam a winning start at home to his tenure as Swans manager.

In the final league game of January, Swansea travelled to Carrow Road to play Norwich. Éder scoring his third and fourth league goals of the season to ensure all three points and a 2-0 victory.

February Round-up

h1CqcpY.jpg

February started with a home game against Leicester and Swansea continued their great form with a 1-0 victory thanks to Kim Shin-Wook's first league goal for the Swans. That gave Swansea their third league win on the trot and three clean sheets into the bargain.

Next up for Swansea was a trip down to the south coast of England to play the Saints. Sadly the run could not continue and to make matters worse it was ex-Swansea striker Wilfred Bony who scored the only goal of the game to claim victory for Southampton.

Next up was a game that Jaap Stam had been looking forward to and that was him welcoming his old team, Manchester United, to the Liberty Stadium for the Saturday lunch-time game live on TV. And what a welcome he had for title-chasing Reds. André Ayew started off with the 12th minute opener and that was the result at half-time. In the second half, Swansea increased their lead over Man Utd, with Nathan Dyer tucking away a 67th minute penalty for his second of the season. Then in the 74th minute, Bafétimbi Gomis notched his 8th goal of the season and Swansea's third of the match to claim all three points and a fantastic 3-0 victory over Stam's old team.

March Round-up

jp7LQ5D.jpg

March begin with a cracking home match against Newcastle, where Newcastle twice took the lead only for the Swans to quickly hit back. Ayoze Perez scored both goals for Newcastle, the first after 25 minutes only for Gyffi Sigurdsson to equalise before half-time. Five minutes into the second half Perez scored again to give Newcastle the lead again. Four minutes later Bafétimbi Gomis banged in another equaliser and the game ended 2-2 as both teams couldn't manage to ****** a winner.

An away trip to Birmingham to play Sir Steve McClaren's on-form Aston Villa. Carlos Sánchez scored his first league goal for Swansea in the first minute of the game and this was enough for victory in a hard fought encounter. Uruguayan right midfielder Sánchez only joined in January from Argentinian giants River Plate and is looking a great signing for Swansea.

After the game Swansea travelled up to Liverpool as they were due to play Liverpool in midweek. Swansea defended well and managed to play out a 0-0 draw that wasn't very fan-friendly at all.

Next up was a Super Sunday live TV match at home against a Spurs team chasing Champions League qualification. Bernando Silva, continued his great form for Spurs by scoring the opener after 35 minutes and Christian Eriksen added a second 5 minutes later. In the second half Swansea started well and pulled a goal back after 67 minutes with Bafétimbi Gomis hitting his 10th league goal of the season. But Spurs came back into the match and restored their two goal lead in the 82nd minute with a Diego Rolan goal and the game ended in a 3-1 win for Spurs.

The last league game in March for Swansea was the Monday Night Live game on TV against relegation threatened Bournemouth. Swansea dominated from start to finish although the first half ended 0-0. In the second half, South Korean striker, Kim Shin-Wook scored and Wayne Routledge added a second after 79 minutes. Callum Wilson scored a consolation goal for the Cherries but the game petered out to a 2-1 away victory for Swansea.

FA Cup

VclLFwI.jpg

Swansea's FA Cup run started with an away tie against 2008 cup winners Portsmouth. In a game that Swansea really should have won at the first time of asking it was a case of two penalties. In the first half it was Pompey that took the lead through a Tom Walker penalty in the 39th minute. But a converted spot kick by Kyle Naughton on 58 minutes gave the Swans a deserved equaliser and it was back to Swansea for a replay ten days later.

A cracking cup tie was played between both teams as Swansea dominated again with 63% possession but possession can count for nothing as it was Portsmouth who opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a Gary Roberts goal. Ecuadorian left winger Jefferson Montero equalised for Swansea in the 20th minute and there was no more scoring in the first half. Pompey centre-half Christian Burgess restored Portsmouth's lead nine minutes into the second half. Man of the match Carlos Sánchez then stamped his authority on the match after picking up a yellow card in the 60th minute by setting up Éder twice in three minutes to give Swansea the lead for the first time in the tie. It was enough to break Pompey and the game ended 3-2 to Swans.

The fourth round draw gave Swansea a very difficult home time against high-flying Arsenal. Aaron Ramsey giving Arsenal the lead after 20 minutes and Swansea faced a mountain to climb as Arsenal controlled the game and led at half-time. In the second half Swansea pushed hard and André Ayew hit a goal in the 55th minute and the tie was level although the Gunners were still the better team. In the 61st minute the game took a massive swing to Swansea as Arsenal centre-half Daniele Rugani got a straight red card. Arsenal held out until the 89th minute when Kim Shin-Wook scored the winner and took Swansea into the fifth round at the expense of the Gunners.

In the fifth round Swansea welcomed Championship side Burnley to the Liberty Stadium and Swansea were easy favourites to advance to the last eight of the FA Cup. André Ayew opened the scoring after ten minutes only for Sam Vokes to hit back immediately for Burnley. A hard fought cup-tie ensued and it was Burnley who caused the shock and ended Swansea's cup run when Sam Vokes popped up again and scored the winner in the 80th minute. A very disappointing end for Swansea in a game that they really should have won.

I added 20 million to all balances in January. It should carry over to the summer. Depends on how your in-game chairmen choose to use it!
