Well it has certainly not been the start Football Comedy Ltd wanted to see following last seasons final day escape.

View attachment 175381

Firstly, last years manager Didier Deschamps, who Corbett was looking to take the club forward, took up the role at Liverpool. So the first bit of business by Palace was to appoint a new manager and that man was Ange Postecoglou. Having previous left his post as Australia manager, Postecoglou wanted to get back in to club management.

AUGUST

LEAGUE

> Manchester United 1 - 0 Crystal Palace

> Crystal Palace 1 - 3 Wolves

C.Wickham
> West Brom 1 - 1 Crystal Palace
M.Chamakh

Capital One Cup

Cambridge 2 - 2 Crystal Palace (4-5 PENS)

A pretty poor start to the season, 1 point from 9 games although 1 defeat was expected however the defeat to Wolves was not what we wanted to see as these are the kind of games that will be key in our season. One positive was the capital one cup win even though it took us until penalties to defeat a lower league team which is a slight worry.

SEPTEMBER

> Crystal Palace 0 - 2 Tottenham

> Arsenal 0 - 1 Crystal Palace
C.Austin

> Crystal Palace 1 - 1 Chelsea
M.Chamakh

CAPITAL ONE CUP

> Crystal Palace 3 - 0 Everton

Well out of the 2 months, this was by far the hardest out of the two but the most successful. Although things started off badly against Tottenham, things picked up as the month went on there were signs of improvement. An excellent victory away to Arsenal was followed up with a draw at home against another fellow London club in Chelsea. The capital one cup third round also saw us defeat Everton in what looked like a very one sided game.

OCTOBER

> QPR 1 - 0 Crystal Palace

> Crystal Palace 1 - 3 Liverpool
Y.Cabaye

> Crystal Palace 2 - 1 Newcastle
C.Austin / L.Paredes

> Crystal Palace 1 - 2 Everton
C.Austin

CAPITAL ONE CUP

> QPR 3 - 1 Crystal Palace

An overall poor month which only saw us pick up 3 points from 12 and also get knocked out of the capital one cup. The only positive was the victory over fellow early strugglers Newcastle. Defeats to both Merseyside teams either side of this victory with Everton getting there revenge for the cup defeat. And QPR defeating us on both occasions was a big disappointment as again, a key game if we are to move forward this season.

To summaries, this has been a poor start to Postecoglou's reign only picking up 8 points from a possible 30 and hanging around in 18th place. Hopefully things will improve over the next two months otherwise we could see the stay of Postecoglou being very brief. And a big worry is the lack of goals scoring only 8 in 10 games so this needs to improve massively.

I have no time

Octorber-GREAT JOB GUYS! 3 wins in 4 matches, sees us out of the relegation zone!

November Update

SEASON 2: NOVEMBER UPDATE

Transfer Window will likely open up on Friday and run through the end of the weekend.

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

Table

We have new leaders as Tottenham have dropped off the pace a little bit, being replaced by none other than North-London rivals and pre-season title favorites Arsenal (don't get to say that too often about them!). Liverpool and Chelsea stay in 3rd and 4th place respectively. Elsewhere, Newcastle have managed to lift themselves off the foot of the table, and are replaced by Derby County. Stoke are slowly starting to improve as Ibra seems to have found his feet in the Premier League.

Manchester City is currently standing in sixth place in Barclays Premier League. We started our season horribly. We lost to Wolverhapton, Norwich and even Liverpool. Who could have seen us losing to Liverpool. That is just outrageous.

We did win the Community Shield by beating Arsenal (suckers!).

In league we have lost 4 games (Wolves, Tottenham, Liverpool, Norwich), drawn 3 (Chelsea, West Brom, Arsenal) and won all the others. However in Champions League, we have done exceptionally well by finishing the group first. It is clear that Simeone has listened to me and is trying to win CL before BPL.

In Capital Cup we completely destroyed West Brom and Leeds.

Our top scorer is Morata and Agüero is behind him wth only one goal less. De Bruyne is our best passer with 7 assists. Yarmolenko is coming for him with 5 assists. Gibbs has also found form, which he didn't find at Arsenal. That's what happens, when you join a better club - you start playing better. Overall the best player has been Agüero with an average rating of 7.82.

The end of this year sees us going against Everton, Sunderland, Stoke, Southampton, Derby and Palace. And in Capital cup we have a some-what challenging Chelsea.

I like the look of those player stats btw. Sanchez and Tevez are quite the potent striking force! Ozil is pulling the strings behind them, and Federico Fazio is 2nd in the avg rating standings which is.... very normal :P

What the actual f@#k is going on with Derby!? Worst time ever not to have FM. Paul Clement is one lucky man, until Sunday anyway.....

Season 2016-17
October-November Update

Premier League

ZQckySG.jpg

We welcomed Southampton to the Liberty Stadium for the first game of October and ex-player Wilfred Bony again showed what a potent striker he is as he scored the opening goal for the Saints in the very first minute. Odion Ighalo then showed why we signed him when he scored to goals in 10 minutes to give us the lead going into half-time. Only for Graziano Pelle scoring an equaliser in the second half to earn a share of the points.

--------------------

We then travelled to Premier League new boys Derby where both sides were poor and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
View attachment 174707 man of the match - Ashley Williams 8.5
--------------------

Our next match was against another recently promoted team as we went to Molineux to play Wolves in the first of 5 games live on TV. Unfortunately this game was just as bad as the Derby game and ended in a 0-0 stalemate although we had to play the last 23 minutes with 10 men as Ashley Williams picked up a straight red card.

View attachment 174707 man of the match - Kyle Naughton 8.5
--------------------

We were now back home in Wales as we prepared for 3 straight games at home in a run of 4 very difficult league games. First up was Manchester City, who despite a reasonable close match showed their class as they ran out 3-0 victors with goals from Kevin de Bruyne(14), Raheem Stirling(81) and Sergio Aguero(86). This was our third league game in a row without scoring a goal.
View attachment 174707 man of the match - Gylfi Sigurdsson 7.3
--------------------

Next we welcomed Spurs to the Liberty. This was another difficult game for the Swans and they would be the happier side as the game petered out into a goalless draw, both sides only managing a paltry 4 shots on target the whole game. Swansea's goalless streak increases to a 4 game run.

--------------------

In our last home game of three we welcomed Liverpool to Wales. Liverpool were on a run of 5 straight victories whereas we haven't even scored a goal for over 360 minutes. That is until today. In the 13th minute Iago Falqué broke the deadlock and our dry spell as we took the lead. Philippe Coutinho then equalised for the Reds in the 27th minute and the game reached half-time at 1-1. In the second half we took the lead through an unlikely source as right back Kyle Naughton scored his first goal for Swansea and his first for about 6 years. Bafétimbi Gomis then wrapped up all three points when he slotted away a penalty in the 76th minute. Our first victory since the beginning of September.
View attachment 174707 man of the match - Bafétimbi Gomis 8.4
--------------------

We then travelled to London to play Chelsea in the final game of a difficult 4 game stretch. We were very poor and Chelsea ran out easy 3-0 winners through goals from Oscar(pen 22), Jonathan Calleri(36) and Eden Hazard(87).

Capital One Cup
NdlN7I4.jpg

After beating Burnley in the previous round our reward was an away tie against high flying Arsenal. Unfortunately we got hammered and that is putting it mildly. Goals from Nabil Bentaleb(22), Carlos Tevez(28) and Nikola Vlasic(33) put the game to bed in an eleven minute spell. And with a further 8 shots on target from the Gunners it was no surprise who won the papers man of the match for us.

Euro Cup
ulPiv5J.jpg

After drawing our first two games we then travelled to France to play bottom of the table Bordeaux in the first of our double header with them. In a close encounter it was the French side that took the advantage with a single goal from Younés Kaabouri in the 54th minute and we slip to the bottom of Group H as a result.
View attachment 174707 man of the match - Neil Taylor 7.5
--------------------

In the return fixture we were in control of the match from the very first minute as Iago Falqué scored. Then André Ayew scored our second of the night in the 8th minute. Jonjo Shelvey ended the scoring in the 64th minute and a 3-0 victory lifted us from the bottom of the table upto second place by goal difference with our next opponents AA Gent.
View attachment 174707 man of the match - Marco van Ginkel 8.1
--------------------

In a massive game for our quest to qualify for the next round of the Euro Cup we met with AA Gent at home. Having previously drawn 2-2 with them victory for either side would probably mean qualification. In the 19th minute AA Gent took the lead when Laurent Depoitre netted. Swansea captain and todays man of the match then got the Swans back on level terms with the Belgian side in the 38th minute. And four minutes later Marco van Ginkel gave Swansea the lead and we held on until half-time. Bafétimbi Gomis then popped up and scored our third and gave us a two goal lead with only 25 minutes left in the match. AA Gent fought back and scored to bring the score back to 3-2 through Thomas Foket in the 71st minute. But we managed to hold out and win 3-2.

So qualification attained and with our final group game being an away te against BMG it 's a winner takes all match with the winners gaining a slight advantage in getting what could be a better draw for the next round.

Everton playing well, Firmino is awesome for us. Apologies for lack of updates. No internet at work and I've had the flu recently too. Feeling old, 26 going on 66, looking at pensions, dying.

I may need some help with the transfer window. I'll be away from my laptop (which is now semi fixed) this weekend, but I'll still have my iPad. I'll still be looking to do deals, but I may need to ask people for player values and wages and stuff, just so I can still conduct transfer business :)
