An undefeated month sees us climb to third in the League, whilst remaining top of our Confederations Cup Group. We do seem to be struggling a bit for form and there have been a couple of games we should have perhaps won, but we are still in a good position a third of the way through the season.

As I have been struggling to make the move to Tier 2, I feel my best option is to stay with Tampines whilst applying only to some of the better teams, in an outside chance of landing the job. I have a big chance of earning more silverware with Tampines and bolster my reputation.

April looks set to be another busy month and will be looking to extend our unbeaten run and close the gap on Warriors in the League.

Really interesting idea - hopefully you can continue with some of the more obscure nations in each tier! Good luck with the next job, it'd be nice if it works out as well as the first one has done so far :)

Thanks man - Glad you are enjoying it :)

Am enjoying managing in different Nations for a change, so am sure there will be a few more obscure Nations along the way!

Another undefeated month sees us climb up to 2nd in the league with a game in hand. We appear to have set a pattern of winning, drawing, winning, drawing etc. I am still waiting for us to really find top gear but our current form should see us bring in some silverware this season. We have also confirmed our qualification for the knockout stages of the Confederations Cup, but will likely need a victory in our final group game to secure top spot.

The board have finally agreed to fund my National B Coaching license, which has effectively locked me at the club for the next 4 months. The completion of my license should coincide with the end of the season, and will hopefully be a much more attractive manager to some decent Tier 2 sides.

May is a much quieter month and will be aiming to continue our unbeaten run.

Back to back league victories moves us to the top of the table, for the first time this season. With a game in hand on Warriors, we have the opportunity to move 3 points clear, as we look to defend our league title. Unfortunately we failed to win our final Confederations Cup group game and had to settle for 2nd place, drawing us away to Eastern Athletic of Hong Kong.

Despite getting the tougher draw, we managed to over Eastern, with a dramatic late goal in extra time from Zahra. It was a deserved victory and books our place in the Quarter Finals.

Two tough Quarter Final draws see us go up against Warriors and Muharraq in the Singapore Cup and Confederations Cup respectively. Both matches will be played across 2 legs, adding to our busy schedule.

Fixtures appear to wind down a bit in June with just the two legs of the Singapore Cup against Warriors to be played, as we look to progress to the Semi-Finals.

Our Singapore Cup title defence came to an abrupt end, as we were beaten 3-1 on aggregate to Warriors. We didn't perform well in either legs and it was a deserved victory for Warriors. There are still 3 trophies up for grabs this season, with the League and Confederations Cup being my primary objectives

We have just one league game to play in July, before all focus switches across to the League Cup. We managed to reach the final this year and will be hoping to go a step further and win the tournament, especially after our disappointing Singapore Cup campaign.

Another slip up from Warriors, has allowed us to move 2 points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand. However the main focus of the month has been on the League Cup, where our first win of the season over Warriors enabled us to finish top of the group. A comprehensive 3-0 thrashing of Geylang has put us into the semi-finals, and a step closer to some new silverware.

We will have to face Warriors for the umpteenth time this season to book our place in the final, which will be played 3 days later. Hopefully August will see our first piece of silverware this season, but regardless of those results we will be looking to open up some daylight at the top of the table.

A resounding 5-1 victory in the League Cup Final saw the seasons first piece of silverware. Although it may be the least prestigious trophy on offer, it is still silverware and will another addition to the resume. However, a costly slip up to Home Utd, has seen our lead reduced to just 1 point in the league, with 7 games to go. The title chase is really heating up now, and we cant afford any more slip ups if we are to retain the title.

The Confederations Cup quarter final is my main priority in September, but am also not in a position to neglect the League at this point in the season. Rotation will be needed, but am hoping it wont jeopardise either competition.

Another slip up in the league has left us 5 points adrift of Home Utd with 2 games in hand at the end of September. It is still technically ours to lose, as winning every remaining match would see us come out on top, but we appear to be struggling a bit in the Legaue recently as i have focused our attention to the Confederations Cup. Fortunately, this has been going much better as a comfortable 5-2 aggregate win over Bahranian Champions, Muharraq sees us into the Semi-Finals against Malaysian side, Selangor. We could only manage a 1-1 draw in the first leg, so will need a much better performance in the second to qualify for the final.

The board decided to offer me another years extension on my contract which I had to accept. Although, I am definitely planning to leave at the end of the season, I cannot afford to be out of work. Hopefully a decent Tier 2 job will come along.

October is the final month of the domestic season and we have 5 games to secure the Singaporean League, which includes a massive game away to rivals, Warriors FC. We also need a win in the second leg of the Confederations Cup, or at least a 1-1 draw to go into extra time.

Home Utd finished the season in unstoppable form and a couple of slip ups from us allowed them to win the league by a 4 point margin. However, I did rest the entire first team in the DPMM, in preparation for our Confederations Cup 2nd leg tie against Selangor. This ultimately worked in getting us to the final, but effectively ended our chances of winning the league. The result of the Confederations Cup final against Kuwaiti side, Al-Qadsia will determine whether my tactical decisions were justified....

I also managed to bag my National B coaching licence in time with the end of the season. A win in the Confederations Cup, accompanied with my new license will surely open up more doors elsewhere in the world.

A spirited second half comeback, saw us end the season with silverware. I had targeted the Confederations Cup from the start of the season, and am delighted to finally lift the trophy. This is my 4 trophy in 2 years and is a fitting end to my time with Tampines, assuming a Tier 2 side are willing to take a chance on me. The only trophy left to win is the Asian Champions League, which is well beyond Tampines reach unfortunately.

Our strike force of Lee Jin-Seuk and Agu Casmir, picked up the Singaporean Player of the year and golden boot respectively, capping off fantastic seasons for the both of them.

The board also announced plans to build a new stadium following the end of the season, which came as a bit of a surprise but is good new for the club in general.

Available Jobs

A quick look at the available jobs, doesn't bode well for an immediate step up to Tier 2 (Ireland, Finland, Peru, South Africa, Australia, China).

Limerick are really struggling in the Irish Premier League and don't really see much point applying there. Other than that Finnish side SJK are the only other side of any real note, but they still have a manager is place. It looks as though i am going to have to wait it out a bit and just keep applying to jobs when they appear.

View attachment 145256

Unfortunately, SJK don't seem to have any interest in appointing me as manager after declaring my interest in the job.....

View attachment 145254

Despite a 66% win rate and 4 trophies, my world reputation is still pretty low. I am looking more employable than the end of last season, but it still looks as though a club is going to have to take a bit of a punt on me.

Loving this story. Fingers crossed one of the clubs does decide to take a risk on you!

So following numerous rejections from China, Finland and Peru I find myself still in charge of Tampines come the start of the new season. I am getting pretty desperate to move now, having accomplished practically everything possible in Singapore and cannot really help the club grow anymore due to the lack of quality Singaporean players. Either way we started the season at a steady, topping our Confederations Cup group and sitting in second place in the league, following a disappointing draw to Warriors FC.

I have already managed to hit my managerial 100 landmark, in which i have conquered Singapore. I also got the board to begin funding my National A licence, as there is a possibility I will be stuck here for another season. I will however, continue to apply to any Tier 2 job unlike last season.

As usual the early months of the season are always pretty congested as we have to balance League and Confederation Cup matches. Hopefully we will be top of both tables come the end of the month, or better still I will be managing in a different Nation...

A solid month leaves us top of both the League and Confederations Cup group. The team is looking a lot more settled than last season and would be confident of achieving more silverware this season, if i am still here come the end. We did have a small slip up against Niigata Unicorn, which allowed them to move within 3 points as we hit a third of the way through the fixture list.

View attachment 144872

(Job list is filtered fro just Tier 2 jobs)

The only job to open up in March was South African side, Wits and I have now applied for the job. Brisbane Roar, FS Stars and IIves are other jobs i will be keeping a close eye on over the course of April and will apply to any which become available.

Plenty more matches to come in April as we look to open up a gap at the top of the League and secure our place in the next round of the Confederations Cup.

Another steady month sees us qualify for the Confederations Cup second round with a game to spare, whilst we slip to second place in the league but a victory in our game in hand would see us rise above Niigata Unicorn.

View attachment 144832

The job hunt continues to be real challenge and am really getting frustrated at the lack of progress, considering I managed to conquer Tier 1 over a year ago. I will seriously have to consider resigning if i am unable to get a job by the end of the season.

A quieter May should allow less rotation in the squad and hopefully a run of decent results to go with it.
