August was a fairly OK month for Flamengo they managed to finish the month in first place in the league but were eliminated in the Fourth Round in Copa do Brasil by Cruzeiro. They started the month with a loss to their hated rivals before going to a 5 game unbeaten streak in Campeonato Brasileiro. In Copa do Brasil, the early goal in the 2nd leg by Cruzeiro was enough for them to eliminate Flamengo.
Flamengo finished in First place at the end of August of the first time this season but Santos and Cruzeiro have a game in had which one of them may overtake them.
Flamengo's campaign to winning their 4th Copa do Brasil has ended in the hands of Cruzeiro. Also ends their chance to qualify to Copa Libertadores which now they will have to qualify by finishing top 4 in the league.
Next month will feature five games, all Campeonato Brasileiro fixtures. Flamengo will have two tough away fixtures back to back against Santos and Gremio.
This was a result that I am happy to leave with. Santos is a very tough club and playing at their home was always tough so leaving with a point is an excellent result. The match was even trickier as Jonas was ejected from the game.

It was a narrow win but I am happy with the result. This win would have been much more comfortable if Diego Morales didn't miss the penalty shot. Also we extended our unbeaten streak to 11 games in Campeonato Brasileiro.
