March Results

For the first time ever, Rushden & Diamonds advanced to the semi-final of the FA Cup after beating West Brom 1-0 at home. Next up, Rushden had to face Everton in a league match but it ended all square at Goodison Park. The Diamonds showed their superiority in their following league match against Bolton by beating the visitors 3-1 with Rochina at the double.

Rushden welcomed Liverpool in their next league match and many were expected The Reds to come out with a victory. Liverpool had more of the possession and shots on target but it was the home team who managed to hang on and secured a vital win with Destro netting twice to give his side all 3 points. Rossi's side travelled to Villa Park for their last league match of the month and a Marco Verratti penalty in the 2nd half was enough to give the away side a much needed win to boost their European spot chase.

Valentino Rossi's team are climbing slowly to achieve something that many were not expected them to get and it is to play in Europe next season. Only 6 more league games to go and they still have the FA Cup semi-final tie. Will Rushden & Diamonds achieve some glory this season? Stay tune to find out!

Do you really have Verritta not starting? And you should be able to at least finish sixth at worst.

You mean Verratti? He does usually starts for me. 19 starts and 10 subs.

Yes sorry for the misspelling. It was just from your fomation page he was on the bench. I did see the 10 subs, so I was wondering if you were using him as a super sub instead of a starter. Was just curious.

Great story mate - one thing I would say - not a very inspirational title is it...? But anyway, great story!

Yeah i won't. Thanks Chris! (H)

I've actually got a Rushden save as well - haven't got quite as far as you, but I'm hanging on in the Championship in the 2015/16 season. How did you get the board to expand your stadium? I'm stuck at 6441 capacity, which means the money isn't coming in, which means I can't afford any kind of transfer budget. I've got a pretty decent squad (certainly by Rushden standards!), but I keep losing out on players because I can't meet wage demands, and the club can't keep up financially to support the growth I've achieved in 5 years.

Rushden are a really fun club to manage though. Great stuff.

Hmm it's the board who decided to expand the stadium mate and after being promoted to the Premier League, they built a new stadium and now known as Rushden Stadium. Thanks for reading anyway! (H)

Rushden & Diamonds had to travel to Wembley Stadium to face Blackburn Rovers in the semi-final of the FA Cup. Rushden took the lead through Mattia Destro but 2 minutes later, Daniel Edberg equalised for Blackburn. Then, The Diamonds went in front again courtesy of Marco Verratti and Destro added his second to make it 3-1. But in the late minutes of normal time, Franco Di Santo somehow managed to score 2 goals for Blackburn to tie the game at 3-3 and brought the match into extra time. Both sides failed to find the back of the net in extra time and had to settle it by penalties. Ignacio Camacho was also sent off during extra time after a series of foul. It was Rushden who had the better of the penalty shootout and They will play in the finals!!!

It was an even contest between these 2 sides at Upton Park but it was the away side who took the lead through Mattia Destro in the 20th minute. It remains 1-0 at halftime. Then in the 2nd half, Alex Pearce headed home the ball into the back of the net for the equaliser. Carlton Cole broke Rushden's hearts as he pounced on the loose ball to net the winning goal in the 88th minute.

vs Leeds United

Relegation candidates Leeds United, travelled to Rushden Stadium knowing that only a win would save them from relegation. However, things started badly for the away side as in form striker, Mattia Destro opened the scoring for Rushden in the 2nd minute. Rushden's central defender, Bernardo had to be replace in the 32nd minute due to an injury. Things got worse for the home side as Ignacio Camacho was being sent off just before the break. Leeds tried to find their way through in the 2nd half but was unable to penetrate Rushden's tight defense line. They also had McDonald being shown the marching orders in the 81st minute. Rushden hanged on to their lead and won the game by a single goal.

Well well it's amazing that Rushden & Diamonds are now sitting in 3rd place and hunting for the Champions League spot!! It is now a battle between Chelsea, Rushden, Man City and Liverpool for 2nd, 3rd and 4th position!! The Diamonds will face Tottenham at Rushden Stadium in their last league match. Can Rushden salvage anything from that match?

Just hope you win and Chelsea losses. That would be crazy. Good luck cause any way you end the year is still going to be positive!

This has to go down as one of the most important results in Valentino Rossi's career. Even though Tottenham had more shots on target, it was Rushden & Diamonds who had more of the ball possession and took their chances very well to record this valuable victory. This result means that Valentino Rossi's side will be playing Champions League football next season!
