We did it! Another great season for Stockport County. We've stuck together as a team and did what some thought as impossible. Roberto Mancini will be today be eating his words! We will be a PremierLeague side next season. Our last 8 fixtures we're really tough when we came up against teams such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool. We got a famous 2-1 victory over Manchester United which took us out of the relegation zone which eventually confirmed our safety. We looked dead and buried at one point and now hopefully we can build on this and aim high in the PremierLeague. Well done!
Really happy with the new players that we've managed to bring to the club. A mixture of experience and youth, some players have also played at high levels and some are just waiting to be thrown it at the deep end and prove to the world that they are something special and prove their worth at this club, who I think could possibly squeeze into a safe and secure mid-table finish, however I told the board I will avoid relegation which provided me with a budget of £21M. And these are the players I managed to bring to the club;
Chris Brunt - Free Transfer
May not be at his best at 33 but stll can do a job at Left Wing and will be interesting to see how he gets on at the highest level.
Charlie Davies - Free Transfer
A very highly rated striker who scored 17 goals in France last year, I'm looking forward to seeing how he will do as I'm not too sure how too play him just yet.
Liam Fontaine - £375K from West Ham
Liam has re-joined us after he previously had a loan-spell and did well, his experience will be vital and I'm delighted that he's now re-joined the club.
Serges Deble - £7.5M from Charlton
I've finally got my man, I've been a long admirer of Deble as his pace is tremendous and can score goals for fun. The one to watch for sure.
Ryan Tunnicliffe - £5.25M from Leeds
The hard man of the side. Learnt his trade at Manchester United and will now be a very key player for my side.
Lee Peltier - £2M from Huddersfield
A player that will be very important as he can play in about 4 positions, he will be generally used as back-up.
Andy Keogh - £550K from Wolves
At £550K he was a must-buy, he still can find the goals and hopefully will steer us to safety.
Paul Downing - £1.3M from Nott'm Forest
About a year my coaches were reccomending this guy for me so I had to buy him at the end so hopefully the coaches will be right in reccomending him for me.
Kelvin Etuhu - £2.8M from Blackburn
Kelvin has definatley got goals in him and can also play on the wing's where his pace can really be exploited and can hopefully cement his place in the side.
Morten Johansen - £3.7M from FC Kobenhavn
Morten did well in the Danish League last year and my assistant, Steve Round reccomended him too me so hopefully he can do the bizz this year for us.
Justin Hughes - £2.7M from Leeds
Never heard of this lad so hopefully my coaches will be right in reccomending him too me, he looks good and will be the replacement for the former Right Winger Daniel Kearns.
View attachment 51237 Serges Deble, who Sam Charnock has been chasing for quite a while.
Hicks was brilliant last year and we had to turn away some great offers to keep him at the club, he's not happy about not being able to join Bolton but hopefully he remains solid at the back for us.
Tunni has the potential to be playing at the highest level and I'm sure he will bring the goods when he's playing in defence or midfield as his versatility will be vital.
Sam Charnock has today been offered the role of England U20 manager. Charnock has enjoyed great succes with his club Stockport and he has expressed his delight of taking the role of his national team and has told the world, this is a big step of many more to come. "I've been waiting for an international job for some while and I'm absoloutely delighted I have the opportunity to take these youngster's far, this job is a step for me to get into the England job, but Rio is a doing a great job and is only young."
In the top division, we're going strong, we're putting up a fight against all teams and we deserve a comfortable finish. Yet again the media have written us off and predicted us a finish of 20th. But our signings have been brilliant and now I know I made the right decisions in bringing these lads to the club. The last two games of October, saw us play arch-rivals Burnley. After the hype before the match between me and Lee Clark, it was me who came out on top after Serges Deble got the winner for us to take away a 1-0 win from Turf Moor. The next game saw us come up against Frank Riikyard's Arsenal, we took the lead through Andy Keogh but Arsenal came back to clinch the 3 points and won the game 2 goals to one. Our home is now ours, and also has been upgraded.
We currently lie a comfortable position in mid-table, we've scraped out some good results, and we're looking comfortable, and on track for another season in the Premier League next season, which is the aim this season.
Recently, we've had a few injuries, and seems though Kelvin Etuhu has joined Standard Liege on loan and Serges Deble is injured, we're left with Andy Keogh and Charlie Davies and youngster Sean Roberts, due to these injuries, we have had to adopt a different formation which saw us lose games against Swansea City, which confirmed that we would no longer be playing for the honour of winning the FA Cup. The next game was Manchester United, despite beating them last time, they came out on top with a 2-0 win.
No hard feelings though, me and Juande Ramos, have a good friendship, and shared a few laughs together after the game.
The Ghana Football Association have today confirmed that Sam Charnock will be the new manager of their national team, Charnock will leave England U20's with immediate effect.
"I never thought I'd leave England, but at senior level, this a great chance to work here, we're currently 10th in the world and all the players are at the peak of their game, and this country can go far, and I cant wait to get started!
We can also reveal, Charnock turned town the Cameroon job, to take charge of Ghana
