BEATTIE TURNS DOWN FULHAM JOB OFFER !
View attachment 322926

Sky sources understamd that current Sheffield United manager James Beattie has turned down the managers position at Fulham Fc.
Fulham, recently relegated from the premier league, are currently lie one place above the Blades in 8th position!

Other front runners for the job are Lee Clarke and Eddie Howe. However, it was believed that Beattie was the man the Craven Cottage board desired.

James Beattie was stated "i have no intention of leaving this football club for any reason at this moment in time. I've joined Sheffield United with a clear plan in place which we are currently well on track to succeed with".

With Beattie and the Blades doing so well over the last 12-18 months, we dont think it will be long before Premier league teams come sniffing.

Well, at the beginning of January we now find ourselves just outside the play off's on just goal difference! As you can see, above, we've had some impressive results over the last couple of months. Only losing 2 out of 10 league games!
Arguably however, the best performance came in the cup against Arsenal. Although eventually losing 3-1, we really took them all the way before conceeding 2 late on in extra time.

Impressive viories also came against Watford and Huddersfield as well as a draw against Stoke who are all challenging at the top of the league.

BEATTIE FAVORITE FOR WEST BROM JOB.

View attachment 322683

Following the departure of Harry Redknapp as West Brom manager, it has become apparant that the clear favorite it current Sheffield United manager James Beattie.

West Brom parted company with Harry Redknapp following a bad run which included an 8 game winless run. West Brom currently sit second bottom and 4 points behind Ipswich who sit just outside the relegation places.

Although Beattie remains favorite with most bookmakers and supporters, it is unclear whether he will be preparred to leave his current post with the Blades following his recent comments made about the Fulham vacancy.

Beattie has yet to comment.

Beattie: "West Brom job not for me".

James Beattie has responded to recent press linking him with the vacant mangers position at West Brom.Beattie made his comment to the Sheffield Star and was heard stating "the west brom job doesnt interest me at this stage" Beattie followed, "Although West Brom are a great club, i have made a commitment to Sheffield United and will not break that unless something special comes up. We are in a great position in the league and i can really see the club going places".

Sam Allardyce, Mick McCarthy and Oscar Garcia lead the candidates after this development.

January was a bit of a mixed month with only one win and disappointing loses against Sunderland and Derby in the league. The Sunderland game wasnt just a defeat, it was a total footballing lesson which we failed at!

As you can, we also got knocked out of the FA cup at the hand of West Ham. This was a fairly close game but West Ham took their chances better than we did. I would say the Millwall game was actually most disappointing, simply because we were 3-1 up with about 20 mins to go and still let the lead slip!
The derby game against Wednesday was also pretty close and could have gone either way, if i'm honest Wednesday probably had the better chances! Then came the only win of the month against Brighton, i was starting to see us turn a corner at this point before the hammering Sunderland gave us.

This leaves us remain outside of the play off positons by just 2 points. Despite this poor run we really still have a chance !!

The end of January also bring the end of the transfer market, with the majority of my budget spent in the summer i relied only on free transfers and loans ... as you can see below, there wasnt much to choose from!

Yakubu signed on a free transfer following his spell in Qatar. Yakubu has been brought in for back up to Adam Le Fondre, i fell he is an improvement on Ebanks Blake and still has something to offer teams at this level.

View attachment 322678

Wellington Paulista also signed on a free transfer following his 2 year spell with Internacional in Brazil. Wellington Paulista had a brief spell with West Ham in the 2012/2013 season but failed to make a single appearance.

So, at the end of March we find ourselves in 6th place and 5 points ahead of Huddersfield, although the do have a game in hand. As you can see from both February and March's results, we've been on a really good run to get ourselves in that position.
Wins against, Boro, Wednesday, and Wolves were all pleasing in February. The Wednesday game has to be the best win of the month just because of the importance it has with the fans!

We then had a similarly good month in March, the big victory here coming away at high flying Fulham. This is the victory that actually took us into the play off place too! The defeat to Palace being the only blemish in March.

It will take something big from Huddersfield to overtake us now. Although we have got some difficult games coming up including, Stoke, Watford, Huddersfield and Bournmouth. This means we'll be playing 4 of the top 7 sides in the division, including our biggest rivals for 6th place, Huddersfield.

But with only 6 games to go ... can we do gain back to back promotions ...

Well, i'm still trying to work out how we managed to **** that up ...

The run in started so well, beating stoke 2-1 who went on to win the league title! That was followed by 4 defeats in 5 games!

As expected, Huddersfield, Watford and Bournmouth were all really good teams and were far better than us!! By the time the Charlton and Cardiff game came we were so short of confidence, the play offs seemed miles away at that point.

So the dream of the Premier League and back to back promotions has ended, although it was still a really good season for a newly promoted team:

Le Fondre came 2nd in the top goalscorer table, only 1 behind Nathan Delfounso who finished on 24. Still a great effort by the loanee. I'll be looking to make his loan spell a permanent one asap.

Once again, Mehdi Abeid wins the fans player of the year award, just as he did last season. Just as i was last year, im a little suprised at this, simply because of Le Fondre's goals and also the performances of Dele Alli and Danny Wilson. Personally id have given it to Le Fondre!

Well, this shows that our new tactic is helping with possession, this is a massive improvement on last season!

As we made so many transfers this season, i thought i'd give an overview on how they did in their first season:

Keith Andrews - Free = 6/10.
A good signing initially as a shield for the back 4. Think his legs started to go towards the end of the season.
Adam Le Fondre - Loan = 10/10
What a player, and what a signing! His goals speak for themselves ... all 23 of them.
Kasper Povlsen - Free = 3/0
A poor signing, really struggled and couldnt get a game infront of Alli or Abeid for a lot of the season.
Adrian Mariappa - £450k = 8/10
A good signing, playing in almost every game. Also added much needed experience.
Gary Mackay-Stevens - Free = 7/10

A decent player, seemed to really struggle for consistancy though.
Chris Eagles - £400k = 7/10
Very similar to Mackay-Stevens. Good player but struggled with injuries and consistancy.
Dele Alli - £2.3mil = 9/10
What a player! Shame that he missed quite a few games through injury but great player with great potential.
Azbe Jug - Free = 7/10.
Really happy with this signing. It was a real gamble at the time as he'd only played a handful of games in his whole career. Done really well for his first season.
David Ducourtioux - Free = 2/10
Was only ever meant to be back up was turned out to be too poor even for that.
Michael Keane - Loan = 8/10
Again, suprised how well he's done give his age and little previous experience.
Marnick Vermiji - Loan = 6/10
Became pretty useful towards the end of his spell. Didnt quite do enough to warrant a full tansfer though.
Mehdi Abeid - £750k = 8/10
Another really good player who has been steady all season. Struck up a good partnership with Alli too.
Yakubu - Free = 4/10
A dissapointing signing. Was injured for majority of his time here. Good debut goal and performance though.
Wellington - Free = 2/10
To be fiar to him he was never given a run of games, probably came too late in the season to make a real impact.

What is the amount of the transfer budget for your second season? please

Cheers mate, im really optimistic about this season too!
Budget for this season is about £5mill for a top half finish, last season was about £3.5 mill for the same target, hope this helps.

Czech Republic hire James Beattie as Manager!

View attachment 321846

The Czech Republic FA have announced current Sheffield United manager James Beattie as manager of the national team.

This follows a disappointing period in the history of Czech Republic who failed to register a single point in their European Championship group. Czech Republic recorded loses against Greece, Serbia and Switzerland.

Beattie's first challenge will be the upcoming World Cup qualifiers for the 2018 tournament held in Russia. Czech Republic have been handed a fairly kind group with Latvia, Serbia, Belarus, Macedonia and Luxembourg.

It is unclear at this whether Beattie will be continuing his work with Sheffield United where he has guided them to the league 1 title and a 7th place finish in the Championship during his 2 year spell.

Both Beattie and Sheffield United were unavailable for comment.

Beattie stays on as Blades boss.

View attachment 321639

During a press conference held by Sheffield United to announce the loan signing of Ashley Cole from Roma, the board have confirmed that Beattie will carry on as Blades boss.

This has come as some relief to fans who feared the worst when Beattie was announced as Czech Republic manager. However, there are concerns amongst the fans about how Beattie will split his time between the two jobs.

The board also confirmed the season long loan of Ashley Cole from Italian seri A side Roma. Cole joins the Blades following a very sucessful period at roma, making 62 appearances.

Good luck with the Czech Republic mate! and what a great loan signing!

Cheers mate, they havent got a great squad if i'm honest but qualification should be fairly straight forward.
Yeah, really pleased with that signing! Only paying about 20% of his wages too.

Well, that brings a close to the pre-season and a mixed bunch of results. Loses to Man Utd and Spartak Moscow were probably expected while we had good wins against Airdrie, Rochdae and Shrewsbury which again were expected.

We've done the majority of our transfers before the season starts too, the biggest transfer has to be the signing of George Thorne from Derby for a fee of £4 million. I know this is a lot and is majority of my budget spent on one player but i really feel he's premier league quality already!

View attachment 321590

As you can see we also made last season loan players, Adam Le Fondre and Michael Keane permanent signings. Le Fondre signing for £600k from Cardiff and Michael Keane signing on a free transfer after his contract with Man Utd expired.
Lewis Grabban also signed from Norwich for £135k after their relegation from the Premier League. Grabban was third choice centre forward for Norwich, only playing 11 games last season and scoring 4 goals.

Marcos Lopes and Ashley Cole both signed on loan deals until the end of the season.

The latest transfer we made was the capture of former Blade John Brayford. Brayford signed from Cardiff for £350k, this has got to be a bargain! Brayford has previously had a loan spell with the Blades during the 13/14 season where he helped them reach the FA cup semi final.

Also, going in the opposite direction, we also saw the back of Chris Basham, Bob Harris and Keith Andrews. Andrews left on a free transfer while we managed to raise £325k for Bob Harris and £100k for Chris Basham.

So, one month into our second season in the Championship ... and what a start ! 5 wins from 7 games in all competitions certainly isnt bad! The two draws arent even that bad, both away from home against decent championship teams, they'll probably be both challenging for the play offs.

Great wins against Blackpool, Barnsley, Watford, Mk Dons and Wigan. If i'm honest, all these wins were probably expected after the great season we had last year. What wasnt expected was the ease in which we won and the shear number of goal we've scored. Scoring 23 goals and conceeding just 5 goals in 7 games (including 4 clean sheets)!

GAME OF THE MONTH: Has to be 8-0 win against Blackpool ... yes, thats right 8-0 !! What a start to the season this was. 5-0 up at half time and didnt stop there.

Chris Eagles played the game of his life, scoring 4 and assisting 1. Le Fondre also carried on his good form of last season with an opening day hat trick! New signing Lewis Grabban also impressed during his substitute appearance, scoring 1 and assisting anther.
View attachment 321344
PLAYER OF THE MONTH: I have to give this award to Chris Eagles, scoring 7 goals in 7 games from right wing! I'm really hoping he can keep this up without injury which is what ruined his season last year!

Also have to give a mention to Adam Le Fondre who under normal circumstances would have won this award. Le Fondre scored 8 goal in the 7 games and looks even better than last season.

An amaing start there mate! should be an exciting season for you

After the brilliant start we had this month is a little disappointing. Only 1 win out of 6 games just isnt good enough, our problem has been scoring goals ... hitting blanks in 3 out of the 6 games!

Having said that, we only suffered 1 defeat during this period meaning we drew 4. The draws against Colchester and Charlton were really poor as they have been struggling this season and will probably continue to do so.

Draws against Sawnsea and Sunderland werent too bad, especially considering Swansea are in the top half of the Premier League. We really rode our luck against Swansea but defended well and then scored all 5 penalties in the shootout. The Brentford game saw us pick up our performance level in a deserved win.

GAME OF THE MONTH: Was the penalty shootout victory over Swansea. Swansea played pretty much a full time and had several chances to win but a really good performance by Azbe Jug kept us in it.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH: George Thorne has win this award this month, we've had a few decent defensive performances which Thorne has really helped with.

So at the end of September we find ourselves in 6th position which is a little disappointing after the start we had!

View attachment 321303

September was also the first month I started as Czech Republic manager where we played Latvia (away) and Luxembourg (home). 2 games we expected to win and we delivered in both with a 3-0 win over Latvia and 4-0 win over Luxembourg.

View attachment 321302

After these 2 victories we are left top of the qualification group, clear of Belrus on goal difference.

Czech Republic star players:

Pavel Kaderabek - The right back has recently moved to Liverpool from Fiorentina for £10million.

Tomas Kalas - The former Chelsea youngster, now at Arsenal will be first choice centre back after cementing his place in the Arsenal team.

Matej Vydra - Will be challenging Vaclav Kadlec for the number 9 jerzy.

Petre Cech - Although he's lost the number 1 position at Chelsea he will still remain Czech Republic number 1.

The best thing about the above players is that they are all (apart from Cech) under 25 years old which means there should be some room for improvement with them all.

A little bit disappointing this month but there is still a long way to go!

A great couple wins with the Czech Republic
