Sheff Utd story

U should tro out one of the norwegian players in the januar. Daniel Berntsen or Marius Lundemo. Fantastic players to me and epscially Berntsen vill help u get your goals. 5th place with Preston 2nd season and won the "final" for the playoffs because of him(Berntsen) Scored a hatt-trick against Newcastle when we outplayed them with 2-5(dont know how). U can also play him at the left wing and he is available really cheap!

Yeah, a little disappointing, although i think as soon as Le Fondre gets back on form we'll be back on track!

Cheers Tandren, will definitely have a look at both players!

So by the end of November our results are starting to pick up, winning 5 out of 9 league games !

Equally pleasing is our goals scored tally which is back on track in the last 10 games, scoring 22 in the 10 games and conceeding 10.

Really good wins against derby away (4-1), Forest at home (3-0) and Fulham away (3-1) all of which will be challenging for the play off places!

The biggest disappointment was the defeat away at Watford in the league cup! After our superb shootout win against Swansea i really felt we could have had a good cup run this year!
View attachment 321038
After these last 10 games we found ourselves 2nd in the table, 11 points behind Norwich! Its so close at the top though with just 3 points separating 8th and 2nd!

It was also a good period for the Czech Republic with 2 wins over Belarus and Macedonia. We also got a decent draw against Serbia. Even the lose against England wasnt too bad ... we even had chances to go in front before conceeding from a penalty.

With 2 wins in qualifying we're still top of the group, 1 point clear of Belarus. Qualification would be a big achievment as both Serbia and Belarus are higher ranked in the world as we are ... but so far so good !

A good period here but unfortunately we drop to 3rd, 2 points behind Reading!

View attachment 320757

Great wins over Norwich (top) and Reading (third) and the all important replay win over Wednesday in the FA cup 3rd round. After beating Norwich and Reading it was really disappointing losing to both Leeds and Cardiff! The biggest disappointment however was the defeat against Colchester!

The end of January also brought the end of the transfer window ... with us bringing in experienced centre half Sylvan Distin and cover for the left wing position in Rachid Ghezzal.
Both players will act as back up as we currently have long term injures to Mackay-Stevens and Danny Wilson, as well as Michael Kean serving a ban!

Another great period which saw us take 24 out of 33 points and only losing 1 in 11 games! The only league loss coming against Huddersfied who are challenging for the top 6 themselves.
This run leaves us in second place, only 1 point behind leaders Norwich (albeit they have a game in hand) and now 6 points clear of Reading in 3rd.

Unfortunately, we were also knocked out of the FA cup by Hull during this period. A close game which was won by a late penalty!

I really feel we can go on and win the league now ...

Well with 1 game to go we find ourselves top of the league and face a tricky trip to Reading in the final game, meanwhile Norwich (currently second) face a home game against already relegated Derby County.
Only a win will do for us to secure the league title ... i have no confidence in Derby doing us a favour as they've been dreadful all season!

Team news:
Sheffield united remain unchanged after seeing off Yorkshire rivals Leeds 5-0. Reading meanwhile have come to frustrate the Blades, playing 5 in midfield and just Pogrebnyak on his own up front.

Half time and the score remains at 0-0, a really boring game with no chances created by either team, this is a very off performance from the Blades who have score 97 goals before today.

Minute 59: Reading take the lead through Jordon Obika. A cross comes in from the right wing and Obika beats John Brayford in the air to take the lead.
Hopefully this will bring the best out of UTD who have so far offered nothing. They immediatly bring on Lewis Grabban to try and get back in the game.

Minute 65: Obika strikes again to make it Reading 2-0! The goal comes from a counter attack following an enourmous amount of pressure created by the Blades. This should put the game to bed.
Minute 90: The final wistle blows and the match finishes Reading 2-0 Sheffield United.
This defeat hands over the title to Norwich who comfortably beat Derby.

So that brings an end to a very pleasing season (minus the reading result) as finally secure promotion to the Premier League!! As this brings an end to the season, its time to look at the stats and awards for this season:

Team goals conceeded:
View attachment 319824
As you can see, we finish the season with the best defence ... only conceeding 47 goals in 46 games, beating Sunderland by just 1 goal.

Team goal scored:

Not only have we the best defence in the league but also finish as top scorers as well with 97, 5 more than Norwich in second place.
This just makes it even more dissapointing that we couldnt win the league as we had the best defence and the best attack, and finished the season with a goal difference 13 better than Norwich.

Average rating:
View attachment 319822
We can also boast to have the three best players in the league based on their average rating. Michael Kean finished first with a rating of 7.54, Chris Eagles comes second recording an average of 7.39 and Danny Wilson completes the top 3 with an average of 7.36.

We can also boast three more players, Mehdi Abeid, Gary Mackay-Stevens and Adam Le Fondre, all being in the top 10! Mehdi Abeid comes 8th with an average of 7.26, Makay-Stevens and Le Fondre both finish joint 10th with ratings of 7.24.

Top goalscorers:

Adam Le Fondre unsuprisingly wins this award hands down. Le Fondre finishes with 39 goals in 46 games, 10 in front of Ambrose in second place. After losing this award last year by 1 goal he really made up for it this time around.

Abeid wins fans player of the year:
View attachment 319820
For the third straight season, Abeid wins fans player of the year award. Abeid won the award fairly confortably with Keane and Eagles coming second and third.
Once again im a little suprised by this award as i would have said Keane, Wilson, Eagles and Le Fondre have all had better seasons. One things for sure anyway is that Abeid is definatley a fans favourite.

Team of the year:
View attachment 319819
Sheffield united have supplied 3 players in the team of the year as well as supplying Chris Eagles who also made the bench. Michael Keane and Danny Wilson make the side as the central defensive partnership. And Adam Le Fondre obvioulsy made the fist eleven up front.

Player of the year:
View attachment 319818
Again, quite suprisingly, Chris Eagles wins the player of the year award! Eagles had a great season, scoring 14 and making an increadable 17 assists from only 34 games. This award really makes a mokery of the Team of the Year where he only made the bench!
I say this award is quite suprising as both Keane and Wilson had better average ratings and i actually thought Le Fondre would win this award purley for his goals.

Beattie wins manager of the year:
View attachment 319817
Here we have it ... the biggest award of the all !! James Beattie wins manager of the year after securing promotion to the Premier League.

So ... Lets see how we get on in the Premier League !

What a great season! unlucky right at the end there against Reading and yeah Eagles prob should have been in team of the year but just like in real life, they will only really put the best rated players in there even if they did not do the best but hey the ultimate goal has been done! now lets see if you can stay there!

Cheers mate, yeah if im honest i was gutted at losing to Reading!
Yeah i guess they do, Redmond getting in infront of Eagles is a joke .. he only scored about 4 goals! This is where the hard work begins then!

Yeah me too lol. His recent stats aren't that great but still think he's a bargain at that price!

Just had to say brilliant story just made an account to leave this comment keep it coming!

Start with Sheffield United a couple of weeks a go and found this via Google looking for inspiration. So far Top of the league 25 games.

Congratulations on getting promotion, like you said the hard work will begin now. You did however get off to a good start with signing Pelle and Wisdom. Good luck in the Premier League!

Thanks mate, appreciate the comment!
Signings look good, especially Tylery Blackett! I had him in league one and was one of the best cb's in the division. Try and sign him permanently if you can, his contract should run out at the end of season one! How's Jesse Lingard doing? Seems too good for league one.
