Wow, Thank you ChrisDCFC! I didn't want to test it with Barcelona because everyone will always jump on you for testing with Barcelona but when you have a HB and a Shadowstriker you are always going to think about Busquets and Messi. I am a little surprised that Xavi did so well as a BBM. Very interesting to see and the goal difference is insane! Thank you for the feedback, Glad that you are happy with it!

So far im 40 games into the league season won 26 drawn 8 and lost 6 scored 73 and conceded 33, 8 points clear with a game in hand. Should wrap up promotion and the title. Clinched the johnstons paint trophy along the way play a mix of my 2nds and 1sts. Signed a total of 5 players none of which are 1st teamers. Worried about recruiting for the second season at a higher level.
The tactic is great though, all this achieved with Preston, mixed between V2 and now V2.1
Great to hear! Remember to work on team cohesion again when you buy the new players otherwise you will run into second season syndrome. There are some comments about it a couple of pages back in this thread and how to resolve it
Unticking "offside trap" seems to be working for me while always starting the matches in Defensive. If I'm 1 goal down I'll overload the opponents. From there I would get loads of free kicks and corners and scores from them too. Make sure your WB has good finishing and they'll score lots of goals.
Strangely I'm always winning against top teams and lose against weaker teams. I'm using your tactic with Catania after I resigned from Hoffenhiem which I managed to get them to Champions League in the 1st season.
It's a top tactic, you only need suitable players in every role.

I dont think i will have much budget to bring many players in, ive retained all the players i wanted to so it will be much the same team going again with a couple of freebies.

Thank you for the compliment and the tip on the offside trap. I am not sure I 100% agree on the specific players though. More than knowing the roles(amount of stars at position) should not be needed.They do not need to be anything special/world class players.
Here are some examples of far from special players, admittedly 2 of them are narrow losses but we had more CCCs and should have been blow-outs

I have to say that I don't usually like a strikerless formation, I love to have strikers
But I decided to try this out, and just had a huge result with my wigan first season team. Used all my money to bye some talents and ave some loans.
Started using this in the Shef Wed game, and it has been awesome.

I started the home Valencia match on defensive, but changed it back to standard when I went down 0-2, and just WOW!!!!
When on 3-2 I changed to defensive, waste time, much lower tempo and retain possession.

Yeah I know Barcelona are maybe not the best to judge a tactic on however the shape of it screams Barcelona to me!
Xavi was a creative genius for me but the biggest surprise was Jordi Alba who was the top scorer in the league.
Have taken the Arsenal job at the beginning of the 2nd season so will see how it works with a not so dominant side.
I have tried more than one tactic this year but this one is pure genius! Well done mate and thanks!
Switched to this tactic in december while flirting with relagation. went on a brilliant run only to collapse at the end of the season losing in the FA cup final as well :'(

Notes: I played FMC (watched all the games, not instant results since I am testing a new defense as the eagle eyed people amongst us can see in the screenshot) and Ronaldo is NOT great at the SS position when you cannot re-train him to the role. I am sure though that when you re-train him in full manager mode he will be great at the position
Bale I have only been able to use for 1 game because of his injury but in that game he got a 6.6 while still being tired and with a minor injury. I assume a fit bale to score higher.

Thanks!! It's a fact that Ronaldo misses tons of chances playing as SS and i'm working on his retraining. I'm setting my team very similar to yours and i've reached the ECL final (defeating Bayern on away goals). Also won the Liga and Copa del Rey. My worries are the offensive line and how to play Ronaldo but, as you said, it may be a problem of retraining. Thanks again for your effort.

Have been experimenting with your 2.1 version, mainly moving the wing backs to MR/ML positions, and trying the different roles and settings available for that position.
Your 2.1 version is very very good (better than the version with 2 SS). But I find complicated to get good players for the WB positions, and just ignore the great wingers some sides have. For example I?m currently managing the Portuguese national side in 2016, and to ignore Nani, Bruma, and some fine good wingers is just foolish.
So I?ve made a lot of testing and came up with this (with the similar great results of your original 2.1!!!):

Hi Shyftyy i'm enjoying your tactic like no other even though is not ''quite perfect'' as some people says, this is the one i like most, i'm playing with Real Madrid (second season now) and from the start i've seen that CR7 was struggling in the SS position so what i did, looking at the BBM stats requirement i tried to retrain him at that position ( didn't like it that much but it's working) and he surprised me here some ss:

this is My current team and the way I play in all my home and neautral games (using an attacking mentality) but in away matches I'm putting a def. minded players as BBM like Khedira and Xabi Alonso and switch mentality to counter or defensive (that depends on how i'm playing against)
