Good update mate.. bring on something a bit tougher for you though! :P will interest me more.. it was a foregone conclusion this season tbh but this season coming might throw up a challange or two for you!! Good luck ! (Especially with keeping your players!)

I'm a little bit busy this morning but I'll get it up when I can.

Really enjoying this story, I must say. I've been visiting the site since I bought FM, but this story enspired me to register just so I could tell you how well you're doing. A really original concept that I thought would lack depth but your writing is, at times, like that of a mature author, and I think I speak for everyone following when I say, 'congratulations, keep up the great work.'

Bring. It. On.

I groaned as I realised today was the day work really began. I pulled on my tie and received a piece of heavily buttered toast from my maid.

"******* it, I don't like butter! How many times have I told you?!" I snapped out, rather uncharacteristically. "Sorry, sorry. Bit grouchy. First day back and all that." She gave a nervous nod, as I strode at the front door where my Bentley and middle-aged chauffeur was stood, beckoning me inside the car.

As I sat on my black leather, I looked over the transfer documents I had prepared for Paul Ioannnou. I realised I was going to get stick for this one, but he has real potential; and he's not declared for Ireland, yet.

As I arrived at St. George's Park, Steve Gatting had already taken the lads out for a quick warm-up. He'd been a saviour over the past season, and it seemed it was going to continue for a while more. Possibly my best signing.

"Alright, boss? I've had a quick run over the past three Celtic games, and they seem to play narrower than usual. I think we should make sure Tom [Cleverley] and Jordan [Henderson] are raring to go."

I nodded as I admired his commitment and passion. As the squad got back from the quick jog, I sent up a few sprinting exercises, let Brian Eastick take control, and wondered off into my office.

I looked at my fax machine and a piece of A4 paper with the Everton crest at the top. This was big news; Triesman hasn't allowed me to go any higher on him. I pulled the piece of paper and read carefully. "Jose Baxter. £5million. Terrific."

I knew it was going to be a tough month, for pre-season. The pre-season cup in Croatia, which meant we had to beat Celtic to advance, was going to particularly tricky. But I'd set numerous scouts along with Steve Gatting to review the Bhoys and analyse their play.

july2010.png

I laughed as I remembered Steve [Gatting]'s analyse of Celtic. "I think we should make sure Tom and Jordan are raring to go." And he got it bang on as they both grabbed themselves a goal as we drundled through on penalties. Jordan Spence netting the winning pen.

But the Hammers match was horrific. Carlton Cole ran riot, and his hattrick was undeniably brilliant. Tomkins seemed out of sorts and Smalling was about as fit as an American on benefits.

I sat back down after a long, hard month. Getting back into things had been difficult, especially with my horrible cold. It'd effected not only my voice, but my work. And that's something I really hate.

My sofa and linen pyjamas were particularly comfy as I sat back and flicked on Sky Sports News. I laughed to myself as I saw myself being interviewed. I sounded horrible, but I watched through it.

Yeah, I'll do that in the August update.

love the club badges..who made them? oh thats right.. me..hehe

loving the story mate, keep it up :)

Lovin the story mate, you have a way with words that most people on this site lack and I'm loving the video. By the way, looking at the scorers for the four games, who is this 'De Leon' who scored against Hajduk?

Thanks.

He's a 15 year old regen who I decided to let have a game.

**** you! I just had to read through all 8 pages! And it took me the best part of an hour probably..
Great story though mate, superb idea, well organised and some really good updates. You couldn't have wished for a much better first season and what a way to earn promotion with a [almost] £20 million cash injection from Triesman. Great to see Nile Ranger doing so well, hardly small though at 6' 2"..? Still trying to work out who this spaniard is though.. Pity to see you're taking a break from your Arsenal story, it was brilliant, but this is too and i'm glad you reminded me to take a look ;). Good luck for your second season mate. Last update was hilarious btw, layout is really good, wouldn't change much, but perhaps slightly more regular player updates? (e.g. player of the month or something.. Good to see you're finding some promising regens, try Emmanuel Frimpong or Craig Eastmond for DM cover. Also assuming you'll make another effort to sign Jack Wilshere (Or maybe not with Jose Baxter coming in?). Keep it up mate, it's a really good story so far.

Next update will be around am hour and a half's time; if all goes to plan.

The referee's a....

"****** four o'clock in the morning!" I thought to myself as my alarm blurred away, just out of arm's reach. Jenny, my maid, must have set it. I knew I had to travel up to Newcastle, but it destroyed by sleeping pattern, it was a long, long journey, and it was forced upon me. If it was my choice, we wouldn't be buying him.

I looked over our new kits, and the latest design. Our Head of Design, Ramesh Chindapaul, had all but finalised the designs and there were only a few changes left to be made.

I'd had a call from David Triesman three nights before confirming that he had put in a £9million bid for Newcastle's Bradden Inman, a scotsman. I was baffled as to why he had put in a bid for the Scot, but he said he and the FA had been accused of favouritism and racism. Neither of us wanted him, but we need a non-English player. And he was one of the best around.

The trip up to Newcastle wasn't too bad. I had my laptop with me, and while plugged into the car's electrical system, too retain battery life, I could finish off pieces of work on the way up there. I was on calls, but I couldn't access my emails, and that was more than frustrating. I told my chauffeur to stop at a remote internet cafe, so I could check them.

"Wow. 17 unread emails, already." I said to myself, but the most interesting one was from Peter Vernon's agent, the young Wolves left-midfielder. He was confirming his interest in the club and £2.2m deal was all but sorted. Superb.

As I strode back out of St. James Park, I removed my fake smile from my face and got back into the car. We were going to be stopping at a classy hotel nearby, for the night. But I was in no mood to do anything else, and I stayed inside for the rest of the day.

After a long hard month, we'd yet again been knocked out of the Johnson's Paint Trophy in the first round, in a game we really shouldn't have lost. The referee has been labelled a "cheat" and suspended from all JPT matches for two seasons. Not what we needed.

We topped N-Power League 1, and I was delighted with that. But I was particularly pleased with how well the youngsters were going. Lee Wilcox, in particular was breaking into the first team. And at 16 years of age, was pushing James Tomkins out of his centre-back slot.

august2010.png

The deal of Bradden Inman had gone through on the first of the month, and Peter Vernon a week later. One unexpected signing that we'd made was Charlie Ellis for £4.1m from Birmingham. Several scouts went to watch him train and he took their eye instantly. They reported back and convinced me to make an offer right away, but the Midlands club get rejecting. We went higher and higher until eventually we got him for just over £4million.

A pleasing month, and apart from beating scandelled out of the Johnson's Paint Trophy, there were some very good results. The only worry I had was that we weren't free-scoring enough. My Man of the Month goes to Ryan Bertrand for some really fantastic performances, capped off by a 2-goal performance against Southampton.
