Tai Po Football Club
Tai Po Football Club is a football club that plays in the Top Flite division of Hong Kong. Playing in the Hong Kong First Division since 2005, Tai Po plays its games at Tai Po Sports Grounds in front of a packed house of 3,000 people.

The Story:

Jimmy Wright was a football star for his high school back in the United States. He played so well for his high school in Pennsylvania that he even went to college for free on a scholarship for the sport. He played for 4 years at Rutgers. He proved to be a decent First Teamer for most of his College career but nothing spectacular. Coming out of college the once proud Striker found himself struggling to find a job. He majored in history and not many jobs were available at the time. Much to his delight he finally landed a job in south eastern Pennsylvania with a small civil war museum. The museum had established a sister museum in Hong Kong, which showcased the effects the American Civil War had on the world. Wright was assigned the task of heading to Hong Kong to work there, where he was more needed. He would receive a raise and his room & board would be paid. With no other options Wright headed out.

Wright got off the plane and took to work. It wasn't too long before he started following the local Hong Kong First Division. He even developed a favorite team in Tai Po Football Club. He began to frequent their games. One day after a match he stayed after doing some paperwork. He saw the skipper of the team take the lads out for a quick practice after they lost 3-0 against Kitchee. He told the coach of his background and how much he loved the club since his arrival. The team's manager decided to check into his background and get back to him. After exchanging some minor information the Manager contacted Jimmy the next day. He said that there were no more slots open for registration for a squad position but he was willing to offer him a Part Time Coaching deal.

Mr. Wright worked for the team for several years to come and then something unfortunate occured. Just after the 2008/2009 season Manager Fu Kwai Chuk died in a car accident. Stricken with grief Jimmy put in his letter of resignation. However, the board responded to his letter with an outstanding offer. They offered him the chance to manage Tai Po. They based it on his connection with the late Manager and his great relations with the squad.

And this is where our story begins....

Tai Po expected to finish 9th in the table for the 2009/2010 year.

Best Player is Striker Christian Annan

Fantastic lead up story to the challenge, good luck

French Legend Comes to Hong Kong
The famous Number 9 and once European Footballer of the Year, the ever legendary Jean-Pierre Papin was signed today by Tai Po Football Club on free transfer from French amateur side AS Facture Baganos. Papin hadn't made a competitive appearence for the club and hasn't played a competitive match since 2005. The French Star claimed to have jumped at the chance to play Professional football once again and welcomed the move to Hong Kong with open arms. He's not the only signing, in just under a week of being in charge of the club Manager Jimmy Wright has brought in a few other foreigners to help strengthen the team including: Japanese Midfielder Yu Hoshide from Northenr Virgina Football Club (USA), Cameroonian Ghislain Bell Bell on free transfer, and 50 year old English Striker Tony Sealy

Togolese Stud Brought In
Manager Wright continues to bring in the talent. Relying heavily on his fiscal savvy he brings in former Togolese stud Jean-Paul Abalo. The onetime Captain of the Togo National Football Team has made 67 Caps and has scored 1 goal in a Togo shirt. He claims to be delighted to be playing alongside a legend such as Jean-Pierre Papin, and that was one of the main reasons for his move.

Good luck, loved your story of fm 2009 so hopefully this will be just as good. Nice signings as well, hope Papin can perform for you.

Yup a 50 year old English striker and 46 year old Papin! And thanks alot Cheese Lord I know you loved the Bhutan thread so I hope you like this one as much.

This looks like it could be a great story, loved the Papin signing... when every other club is trying to sign the 'next' Jean-Pierre Papin you just went for the original! ;)

Good luck mate, I'll be following.

Woes for Wright
September 6th

Game one under the guidance of new American Manager Jimmy Wright has ended in disaster. A pitiful performance from both sides but an even worse one from Tai Po saw Rangers take away the 3 points by a 1-0 margin. In addition to the poor performance, 50 year old striker Tony Sealy pulled his hamstring and is out for 5 - 6 weeks. The Tai Po support can only pray for a better showing in 5 days time against Citizen in their home opener.

oh ok, anyway a 50 year old jesus lord, no wonder he pulled his hamstring rofl

lol, yh but hopefully it won't hurt me too bad. Still got Papin :)

Torrid Time for Terrible Tai Po
September 11th, 2009

Manager Wright was livid after the game today. Sierra Leonean National Team member Nabieu Boy Yoro Kargbo arrived by plane in time for the match. The latest addition to the Tai Po squad was ready to take on Citizen today in a game that looked promising. For the second game in a row, Tai Po conceded a goal in the 42nd minute and went down 1-0 at the half. Just 3 minutes into the second half saw Citizen double the tally to go up 2-0. Then in the 59th minute Tai Po favorite Christian Annan scored the first Tai Po point of the season, however it was not enough. The talking point of the day would be the disallowed Papin goal in which he was adjudged to be offside.

Wright sees Tai Po with 0 points in 2 games and sitting in 11th. He insists that they need to give him a bit more time to have the lads well adjusted to one another. Only time will tell how this experiment for the Tai Po board will turn out.

Transfer Market Shake-Up Mean Rebound for Tai Po?
September 19th, 2009

Wright reels in 3 more signings, this time all from his home of America. He signs Harrisburg Goalkeeper Chase Harrison on free transfer who will join the team October 1st. The other two, FC Dallas' Daniel Torres and Salt Lake's Tino Nunez were also signed on free transfer and will be wearing a Tai Po shirt come January 1st.

finally, a decent story thread. Hong Kong, i made a database of that. I may upload it

Wretched Wright on Hot Seat
September 21st, 2009

Jimmy Wright is fast establishing a reputation with the club, and not the way he'd like to. He recorded his third straight loss and did so in a horrid fashion as his squad slumped to a 4-0 loss against defending champions South China. The poor play of the Tai Po midfield compounded by a horrid game from Jean-Pierre Papin ensure a rough time for the team and sees Tai Po to their third straight loss. Rumours have already began about the removal of Wright, yet nothing has been confirmed.

Tai Po Scores!
September 27, 2009

Manager Wright and his wonderful Striker Christian Annan end what seemed to be an unstoppable streak. Tai Po at home against Happy Valley recorded a 2-1 victory, and in truth the scoreline should have been more favaoring. But nobody was as delighted as Christian Annan who scored the games only two goals for the Tai Po side, including a late game winner in added time. Tai Po picks up 3 points on the year and Christian Annan recorded his 3rd goal of the year. An interesting side note, Annan has scored the only 3 goals for Tai Po all year. Maybe this is the turnaround the support has been looking for. We'll see come October 10th when Tai Po takes on TSW Pegasus.
