SHERINGHAM DEMANDS FOCUS

47DBFD61AD5D2ECDFC541E93C071.jpg

In an exclusive interview on the clubs website, Racing Santander Manager Teddy Sheringham has issued a rallying cry to his players for them to improve their current form.

Sheringham's side currently sit 10th in LIGA Adelante, just 2 points off 6th place, which is the final play off position held by Girona at present. With just 10 games to go and 5 of them against teams above Racing in the current league table, the Ex-England International is hoping his team can put together a run of wins to propel them into the top 6 of the Spanish Second tier.
Racing have taken just 8 points from a possible 18 from their last 6 games and Sheringham knows his side must pick up their performances or face ruining all the hard work they have achieved since his arrival in November 2012.

" We have to pick ourselves up, work hard on the training pitch and start another unbeaten run.
We've spoken behind the scenes and the players know what's expected of them over the coming months
and they, just like myself and the coaching team, don't want our season to end early and I'm keen to
give the fans something to cheer about, especially with how welcoming they have been.
As players you want to be involved in the big games and we now have 10 cup finals to guarantee
our place in the playoffs come the end of the season. Can we do it? Well I believe the squad we have
here, can beat anyone in this league, we just need to express ourselves more in matches and be more
clinical in front of goal to finish teams off. "

Whether Racing can get into the playoffs will all depend on how well they do on Sunday, as they face top of the table Alcorcon away at Santo Domingo.

things have slowed down a bit but still looking good well done keep it up

Slowed down? In that the team haven't been great or updates? Lol. Cheers mate, going to be a nail biter till the end. :)

close to the playoff spots now, keep it up.

Yeah too close for my liking, lol. Had a couple of bad results, and looks like players are nervy about the big games. No matter how I talk to them in my team talks, seem to have a negative effect on their morale. Big 10 games to go and will be mighty close. :)

Teddy: " Just the response I was after and the lads have shown great maturity to turn in the recent performances that they have. But we know we can't get ahead of ourselves, we still have important games ahead, which we have to keep our focus for.

Unfortunately Hercules had other ideas and ruined the party, as they took a 2 goal lead to silence the party
atmosphere building inside the stadium. They did though raise a cheer when Juanmi scored
a late consolation, but it wasn't enough and the fans went home dispondent, but with a play off campaign
to look forward too.

Teddy: To get so close to earning automatic promotion is a big kick in the teeth, but we can't be too disheartened, as we have a double header playoff against Cordoba in the next week. So we can't be too down, we must respond in the right manner and switch our attentions to the next game. "

NO NEW CONTRACT FOR TEDDY?

images

Reports today are surfacing that Racing Santander manager Teddy Sheringham has not been offered a new contract by Chairman Angel Lavin.

Despite taking Racing into the LIGA Adelante playoffs, where they are due to play the 1st leg against Cordoba tomorrow night, many fans and pundits are in disbelief that Sheringham(above) has yet to be offered terms on his current contract that is due to run out at the end of this season.

Sheringham joined Los Racinguistas in November 2012, when they were languishing in 20th place in the league. Since he has taken over Teddy has masterminded a huge change in fortune for the club, taking them to 4th in the league and in with a chance of an instant return to LIGA BBVA.

A source within the club said. " Teddy has been a revelation since he's been here, winning 18 of his 28
games in charge, losing only 5 and ensuring Racing have the best defensive record in the division.
It would be a huge loss if he was to leave the club, with a win percentage off 64% in his first
season as manager, is up there with the best. "

As of now, there has been no official comment from Angel Lavin or Teddy himself, as the club prepares for an important week.

very unlucky there mate i still think you will go up
