hey man; impressive detailed work! i'm investigating.

got a newcastle save atm, came 7th in my first season, bought alot of kids which is the main reason why i'm struggling atm (in 12th, but losing to ****** teams; hence why i come in search of a little help)... only at 1st of November atm, I've downloaded your tactics sets and the 4-2-3-1 looks most appealing to me. I'm guna try and implement to my newcastle squad.

I've got the squad for alot of the positions but I've just 1 target man in Pogrebnyak, I've also got Owen and Beckham.

Thinking Owen could work in the AMC role in 4-2-3-1, and i've altered the right wing stats for the winger so beckham sits and distributes rathing than running with the ball.

Wigan coming up now, away.

Guna start with the balanced version and see how it goes.

I'll give you more feedback after another 3 games

WIgan AWay: started with defensive instead of balanced, also go for 4-4-2 set as wanna involve pogrebnyak and owen as much as possible, moved to attack away at 60 mins at 0-0, beckham scored a free tick 79 min, switched back to defensive won 1-0!

leverkusen home: started with control, moved to attack home when they started coming at me abit and i cudnt hold possesion as long as i'd like, they go 1-0 up after 30 mins; 2min later ochirosii does excellent cross and beckham volleys home! 1-1.
55 Mins in and we're 3-1. AttackHome dominating them. Will continue until 65 mins or so then go to defence for last 20-25 mins. Won 3-1.

Reading Away: these guys have just been promoted, so i'm going to start with Attacking-Away. Here goes. OK 1-0 down at half time, they've been having most of the possesion. Changing to Attack-Home. Still no joy by 80 mins, changed to OVERLOAD, finish 0-1. Lost.

On tweak that I already have implemented is to lower the closing down settings for the DC( to notch 8) and the FBs (to notch 10), in Attack Home. That should work much better. I have also given the AMC some more options, by giving him mixed on everything in all versions and then you play your player to his best by adding one "often" according to his( or the Fcs ) stats, It could be that the AMC have 20 in crossing and the FC 20 in heading. Then give him often in Crossing. etc, etc

Update on the Roma save- first season, no singnings

Using the latest tweak( that will probably go Gold tonight i.e be published) of the 41221 Playmaker

Teams yet to play against are Palermo(away) and Siena (home)
Conceded goals - game 2 Away to Udinese 2-3; MIlan home 4-1 and Lazio home 2-1

I am doing a 4321( flat 4 at the back -3MC-2AMC-FC) but many things needs to be altered. The 2 AMC needs to be closing down very heavy on the AI, the MCr and MCl would have to have crossing set to often and from byline but still have a rather defensive mentality and the central MC, playmaker would have to sit deeper, mentality wise and regarding closing down, with HUb and no fwruns at all. But as i said, one would have to tweak almost everything in every version

Great tactics mate, been around this site for a while and have tried a lot of tactics. I see from the posts that there are variations to the 442 which i have downloaded and are using? where are they? Anyway, i pretty much use the attacking variant of the 442 formation with Leeds, played 20, won 16 drawn 4 lost 0!! not set the heather on fire, have in actual fact scrapped through with a few last min goals, but hey the proof is in the pudding as they say, keep up the good work!!!

Glad the set is working for. Don´t really understand what you man by the bit in bold. Is it that you cant see any difference between the 2 442-sets or that you cant find the download links to the other sets/formations ?

Good tactic, the attacking version works fine for me, I have not used the others. I have one question. What affect will it have to move to two side midfilders up to wingers instead? The reason I ask is that almost all my ML and MR are best suited as wingers. They are dark green as side midfilders and light green as wingers, why the should perform best as wingers.

(Assuming you are refering to the 442 no TM.)

You could try it, but you may need to ask them to track back some more( also consider to give them free role and hub )

I'm wondering,

I'm using your 4-1-2-2-1 tactic and it's working out great so far. The only problem is, I'm using wingers who should cut inside, left footed player on a right wing and vice versa. They're now trying to cross to often without succes.

So my question is:
How can I adjust the tactic so that they can cut inside, run at goal and either shoot at goal or perhaps give a passing assist in the box, without ruining the tactic?

sounds like a great tactic set....I'm gonna try them for the rest of the season with my West ham team....currently sitting second in the EPL.
I'll feedback results for you.

The only thing i'm no good at is picking the right tactic or recognising what tactics the opposition are using....probably due to the fact i'm a fifa manager convert and haven't played FM since it was CM all those years ago!!!!

In this case, I do NOT think you should use my set until after the season as you most certainly will fail until learning about version picking and reading the AI/ME. Shame it was to be my set that destroys your race for the title8-|

Try to make adjustment for your self. One thing to look out for is that when playing the lower versions, you DONT want the wingers to wander into the box too early. You could try cross/mixed or rarely, from Byline, and for far post as its impossible to make that cross, there is no angle....or....cross from mixed/deep and aim at far post and also set rwball to often. This will make them cut inside to make that cross.

TBH....tried two games....H to Man City 0-5 thumping....and then drew away to blackburn....kind of put a dent in title ambitions.....will start afresh pre season next year.....may even start a new game.

OK thanks. Where should you place your best attacker right or left. Or does it matter when they swap position? I have Torres and several young guns, that's why I ask.

Another question: I can see that there are two 442 tactics, one without a target man and one using a semi target man. Besides the target man, is there any big dfifference between those two tactics? Are they suited for different kinds of teams?

Yes , they are indeed different. I prefer the No TM 7 days a week when playing in the EPL or other good leagues
