Tactics & Training: The " I have a small question " thread

Thanks for the answer Riddick.

I actually spent a lot of time trying to tweak team & individual settings, I just can't seem to make things work in defence without the DMC :)

One thing should be setting a high d-line and playing the offside, but in FM it seems to be a suicide...

Can youth players develop their full potential by just following the default training schedule?

Thanks

I'm trying to set up my attacking corners, I have them aimed at far post. Would it be conflicting to have one player attacking near post and one on near post flick on, 2 players trying to do something different with the ball in the same place?

Kandersson - I dont play offside trap, even with better teams i've never seen positive results, that may be because i tend to rotate off-form players, but i'm not sure. If you play a high Defensive line, play a higher tempo with a bit more width. Try having your CB's attacking mentality set at the same rate as the DM, so effectively he's a third centre back when the rest of the team pushes forward.

Josh - No, they need match practice as well as a solid training schedule.

Jib - Remember, as in real life, not every corner reaches its target, Having a player on each post is always a good idea, as well as one attacking each post. Also consider having one of your tallest players (generally your CB's) challenging the goalkeeper.

What is the best passing style if a player needs to make much trough balls.

How long does it take for a player training in a new position to get from red, through all the colours to green?

Marcofm23: Logically, Direct passing would be best suited for many through balls, Short for possession.

Jamie92: It depends on there versatility, some it can be quoite fast, others will take forever.

Problem with my team

So here's the deal. Last season (my first in FM2011) went great! I had managed to set up a tactic that worked fine. My offense was in full bloom scoring an average of 2 to 3 goals per game. My defense was solid and very rarely allowed more than one goal per game.

I finished first in my championship (French First League) and won the french cup. Nene, my Left Offensive midfield was the leading passer with 19 assists and Hoarau, my main goalscorer, was 3rd in the league with 16 goals.

Over the offseason none of my starting players left. I made a few additions but mainly subsitutes and I didn't change my starting lineup. Pre-season games went very well, winning all of them against teams of same or better reputation.

Then the season really began and I have no idea what has gone out of whack. My offense can't hit the goal even if they're 5 feet away. The great assists that I was getting have disapeared and my strikers are maxed out at 4 goals at midway point in the season. Nene looks like he had a leg amputation at some point and Hoarau is on the verge of making me push him out the door because he's been so poor.

To add insult to injury my defense is crumbling. They are now allowing soft goals that drive me absolutely up the wall and in general the whole team just watches as opposing players run for the ball or steal it from them.

I really could use some help with this. My tactic is 4 defenders, a defensive midfieler, a center midfielder, two offensive midefielders on both wings and two strikers.

Last season this produced wonderfully for me. Once again, I haven't changed my lineup and the moral in the dressing rooms is great.

Where have I gone wrong??

Thanks in advance for the help!!

I also have a small problem. I am playing with Crewe, playing standart 4-4-2 formation. At home, the tactic is great. 7 games, 7 big wins. But away, its complete collapse. I always concede 3 lame goals, mainly form distance and logn fk and also in last minutes. I always play contain last 10 minutes if I am leading or drawing, but they always concede. My defence is: 2 fb with support duty and 2 cb with defend duty. Morale is good, but maybe if you have some tips please help. Or is it better to create new defensive tactic?

Try sideline instructions. Like pass to feet or retain balpossesion.

Can someone explain how to get a 4-5star coach in the shooting category please?

And also are there any recommended touchline instructions you would recommend..iplay a successful fast paced 4-2-3-1 control formation.

thanks

I have these strikers for my aston villa team - Darrent bent, Gabby Agbonglahor, Klass-Jan Huntelaar, Tomas Necid, Nathan Delfonsuo and Hugo Almeida, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as which players would link up the best and what roles I should play them in.

I'm Blackpool and i'm playing Marlon Harewood as a defensive forward in the hope that he will come short to recieve the ball to create a hole for my other striker or midfielder to run into. Anyway, what sort of instructions should i give him and how should i play my other striker so that he will run into this space. (My other striker will either be Kaldec or Griffiths).

Have Harewood as a deep lying forward (duty as support) as basically he will look to drop deep into space and hold up the ball before linking passes back into the midfield , and if he has time to turn, he should play it into your strike partner as for your other striker(s), have them as a complete forward with there duty attacking

Sunderland ££££

hi. i am currently managing sunderland, in the first season the funds became available aaround the middle of november. I am now into my second season, 1st ov december, and have the spend the first years funds and have not recived any more money, even tho i finished 5th in first season.. Has any1 else managed sunderland in 2nd season? do you get more ££? cheers

next small question, do i just pop the file in the tactics folder and its there as with FM10

and is it the same with training schedules?

I have a question...

I don't know either it's game's fault or something else but I've been very upset because of the inbalance of my teams ability to convert scoring chances against the opposition. Each time my opposition scores two goals in two SOT but my players even miss when goalie is of the goal. The opposition goalkeeper became MOM of the half of the matches I've lost or draw. My forwards suffer goal droughts about 550-600 minutes...

I've been playing with Palermo, with a 4-3-1-2 tactic. Pastore-AMC (attacking midfield-attack), Miccoli-ST (poacher-attack), Hernandez-ST (deep lying forward-attack). Especially Pastore is very unformed. What can I do to solve this problem?...

1.)next small question, do i just pop the file in the tactics folder and its there as with FM10

2.) and is it the same with training schedules?

1.) Yes

2.) No, training has been revamped and you have to make new ones for Fm11

At the start of the 2nd season ( as before any season), you get to choose your ambition ( title challenge etc). What did you opt for ?. How is your wage budget looking, are you over it by far ?
