Tactics & Training: The " I have a small question " thread

What does tight marking actually do?

I think that if player doesn't have tight marking, he covers other players, with tight marking tries to mark nearby opposition player. Does it work like that?

I think tight marking is how close your player will stick to near by opponents to stop them from having time on the ball, and to turn. So with zonal marking and tight marking ticked you run the risk of your defender or who ever getting to tight and getting turned.

Firstly, I would look at the players and their ppms. Do you have any attacking player that likes to come deep to get the ball, any DMC that likes to move forward etc. After that, I would set up the roles so that we have one DMC holding the ground when attacking and actually close down rather high up in the pitch so that the opposition don't get too much space in the center of the park where we lack players. After that, I would look at the other DMC and make sure that he supports the AMC and this player is probably the most vital part in the transition phase. In the AM-Strata, i would again play the players so that they can do the most damage. In my save Pastore and hazard does not have any ppms that can be conflicting with any wide play or positioning so you wont have any problem there. Just make sure that they both open up space for each other and move into it when its created. Their roles and wide play would depend on your approach as i would play them rather different if i was playing defensive versus Attacking

Im playing the defensive midfielders as anchor man and deep lying playmaker - support.
I play Hazard as advanced playmaker attack/support and pastore as attacking midfielder-attack. Necid is my targetman - support and Hernandez poacher.

I'm using shorter passing and normal (11) tempo, I play attacking and dynamic.. Can't get much possession. However I get most of my goals through beautiful combination football.

I'm wondering how do I make my wingers (AML,AMR) track back and mark the oppositions full backs. I'm playing a 4-2-3-1 and want the wingers do drop back and create a 4-4-1-1 shape like Germany did in the world cup. I know that I should lower the closing down but how much and should i do any thing else, every help would be very appreciated.

Do the default tactics actually work if you just put in player roles?
ive had enough of using other peoples tactics as i feel im not actually managing and loosing part of the game.

I'm having some serious problems beating mid-table teams that use 4-4-2 (managing Liverpool). I play 4-1-2-3-1 and overall play really well, beating the likes of Tott, ManU and Chelsea but I can't score or keep possesion against teams like Fulham.
Can anyone suggest any tactic tweaking?

Hello, I'm sorry if I chose an improper thread.

I'm starting new game with Athletic Bilbao and for this reason I would like to ask you to give me the name/link for the best training for FM 11. I want to have a good and well-tried schedule because as everybody knows I can't buy foreign players.

Thank you in advance.

I got a shot with my lower level team (Anundsjo) in Div 2, Sweden, to play in a nationally televised game. I'm assuming it means better bucks for the bottom line, but does live games have an impact on my fan base, or is winning titles the only ticket to recognition?

I don't think that anyone outside SI actually knows but I would be very surprised if it did. Winning titles, signings big names are those things that will raise the status of your club and that leads to you being live hosted rather than the other way around I assume

Hopelessly trying to make a man utd tactic.

I would like to play 4-2-4 fluid attacking with default passing (so its a mix between short and direct)
I would also like to have evra, ferdinand, vidic, rafael, carrick, pastore, nani , valencia, rooney and hernandez as my starting line up.

What roles and duties would anyone suggest?
What team instructions would anyone suggest?
aAso is it possible to play an advanced playmaker (attack) and deep lying playmaker (defend) as my two cm's with playmaker unticked. I am thinking of having pastore and carrick here. I like the idea of two playmakers and both seem to suit the roles.

I think you need better balance in that lineup. Of all 4 midfielders, only Carrick can mark and tackle. Valencia has good positioning though and if that had been found in Pastore, i think it would have worked. The lineup is just too attacking in my opinion. If you want real success, you need someone like Fletcher playing beside Carrick. I know that Pastore is more sexy but that's just life, you need balance, especially with you probably wanting the fullbacks providing support in the attacks.

As for the questions, yes its possible, but I would still tweak one of their roles(Carrick) slightly so that he acts like amore hardworking deeplying playmaker ( or a ballwinner with higher creativity)

Okay i understand that...even fergie doesn't play nani and valencia together in real life and have his two cms attacking.

In this light, how does this sound....

Attack
Fluid

passing- default
creative freedom- default
closing down- press more
tackling -default
marking- zonal
crossing- default
romaing- default

RB- Full back(Support) Rafael
CB-Ball playing defender (Defend) Ferdinand
CB- Limited Defender (Defend) Vidc
LB - Full back (Support) Evra

MC- Ball winning Midfielder (Defend) Carrick
MC- Advanced Playmaker (Unticked) (Attack) Pastore
AMR Inside Forward (Attack) Park
AML Inside Forward (Attack) Nani

STR- Poacher (Attack) Hernandez
STL- Deep lying Forward (Support) Rooney

Ah, I meant the typical 4-3-3 :)

How about good *** manager attributes?

Hi!

How I can make this player more productive? Im playing a 442 his role is trequartista and the other striker is a targetman. He is not scoring as often as I want to. My basic tactic is not good enough maybe.. i dont know.

It looks like he could benefit from playing as a Poacher, rather than a Trequartista.

Still struggling to gain possesion and goals in the match...

Which roles or duties should I change?

Try pushing your def mid's into central mid, centre mid - defend and deep lying - support.
Try putting your target man on support duty, should help your poacher score more goals. Increase hazards and pastores through balls, Have them float crosses to target man if they are wide, consider increasing the tempo for a bit more possession (more passing + higher tempo = more passes made).

If i am playing a flat 4-4-2
would it work if i set my wingers as wingers with instructions to cut inside, cross sometimes and through balls rarely.
Then set my full backs on attack and hug touchline

Would this work?

Thanks this seems to have worked =) 4-0 against Fiorentina, 3-1 against Roma and 2-0 Against Juve ^^
