Tactics & Training: The " I have a small question " thread

Could someone please tell me how you can see what a player will be like as a coach. I'm just working on how good they are at their role, but some end up having completely useless stats even though they are great players.

Thanks!

I'm playing a 4-1-2-2-1 (Zahar's version) and I have this dilemma... I have Douglas Costa on the right wing as winger who cuts inside: his long shots are 17, but his decisionmaking is only 10. Should I put long shots on often, sometimes or rarely?

Same for Hulk: his long shot are 19. He's a poacher. Long shots often, sometimes or rarely? I feel that so many good chances go down the drain because of a long shot...

Another question about Hulk: he's a beast. He creates lots of chances, but when he shoots at goal (mostly only vs the keeper) he just bangs em right on the keeper. His composure isn't that good (11) and he shoots with power. Is that the reason? How can I fix it? Or is it because he needs to gel more (I bought him this season)?

Thanks!
Anyone?

It's more or less a gamble really. I would think that what they are best at as a player, coupled with Determination and Work Rate would make them good coaches.

Put Long Shots to Sometimes on both players. And make Hulk learn the Player Preferred Movement of 'Likes to Round Keeper'. Also try playing him as a Complete Forward.

Sometimes, when having a chat with the player, he tells you that he can get him self available instantly ( if its your player) and then you can see his stats before deciding on actually offer him a player/coach contract

Does "Running from deep" mean running with the ball from deep or making the run from deep to empty space?

For man utd i want to play a 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-3-1 asymmetric.
1.Should i have my philosophy on rigid (like madrid's 4-2-3-1), fluid (like arsenal's 4-2-3-1 or balanced??

2. Also should i be playing more direct football?

3. Can my 2 defensive players be on support and defend, or do they both have to be on defend?

4. Bearing in mind i have evra and rafael should the full backs attack or support?

thanks for your time!

Hi, guys. I have a small question that's been bugging me for a while now. What does forward run instruction for strikers mean? I thought, it means that the striker will line himself with the last opposition's defender, but in many post I read here, a deep lying forward or false nine is often given always forward run instruction, this got me confused, why would you want a Deep Lying forward to run forward all the time?

Hi was wondering if anyone had ideas on how to solve my problem...im managing spurs and my front 3 of Balotelli AML inside forward(attack) Alexis Sanchez AMR inside forward(Support) and Lucas Barrios Adv Forward just wont seem to score goals and if anyone has any ideas or hints on getting the best out of these players id appreciate it

Hey I am managing Valencia and my formation is fluid 4-2-3-1. I play my AML as Winger attack with cut inside, is it necessary to have there a player with oposite foot? (e.g. AML with right foot) or there can be leftfooted player on left winger? I am currently playing Joaquin there, he is doing well but I would like to have there better crosses, he is right footed only or it doesnt matter on winger position? on AMR I play Mata as inside forward he is left footed only

If you teach him to rarely use his weaker foot it could work.

Hi

I have a small question about the 451 formation (4231 and 41221/433). In the midlefeld there should be a partnership of a destroyer, passer and creator. Was wondering what should the player roles be? (the most basic ones, nothing complicated for a Lower league team) Tnx

Probably Defensive Midfielder on Defend, Central Midfielder on Automatic and the other Central Midfielder on Support or Attack. Maybe even Advanced Playmaker on Support if they stand out in the midfield.

iNickStuff told you about the 4-5-1/4-3-3. In 4-2-3-1 (AML, AMR and 2x MC, drag manually your outer AMCs to wing position to make this formation) I would use deep lying playmaker on support, ball winning midfielder on defend and advanced playmaker on support. If playing with 4-2-3-1 deep, then 2 defensive midfielders, one on support and one on defend, and advanced playmaker or trequartista.

Some help. I just won everything with Barcelona losing only 1 match in the whole season drawing 6 and winning the rest. Results wise my tactics are absolutely perfect. I conceded only 18 goals in 38 games in the league. I've got very good ratings for the whole of my defence and my single striker and my middle attacking midfielder (messi of course). I play 4-2-3-1 narrow attack so 3 AMC's. The other 2 AMC's I cannot get to play well or get a good rating. It is annoying me very much. My CM position which is defensive plays well. But Xavi in other CM Iniesta and Pedro at AMC (left and right of Messi) have really average ratings. I need to try to increase all 3 of their ratings! They are massively underperforming. Any help with the full custom roles of Xavi playmaker and Iniesta Pedro attacking midfielder roles please?

The rating of each role are based on what is expected from them. If you have a AMC that in theory should score and provide lots of assists, but instead opens up space and make many "2nd-assist", having a really good passing completion, also cutting many angels and breaking up attacks, they might not get high ratings. If they on the other hand fail to do their defensive duties and have a passing completion beneath average and instead set up goals, they will have better rating even though they wont contribute as much to the team. in the end, I would not care too much about the ratings as long as they play their part.

It would also depend on what you consider to be a poor or average rating. Personally, I woul be happy with a average rating between 6.8-7.2 for my "team players"

I'm using 4-6-0 formation, basicly 4-5-1 where striker is pulled back to AMC. I play short passing possession game, so I wan't to press the whole field. My problem is, that opposition can pass within their defenders, goalkeeper and midfielders for a long time and my players aren't able to steal the ball.

Screenshot of my last game in league cup against Sheffield United, opponent's passing chart:

As you can see, they have also a very high pass completion.

Stats and action zones:

Everyone has tight marking, both MCs, AMC and wingers have closing down full pitch, wingers with zonal and midfielders with man marking. Any ideas?

It is extremely hard to think of Xavi and Iniesta as squad players! The tactics is near on perfect, I even just tweaked it a bit more and my possession was amazing but managed to get no yield on ratings from my better players. Match vs Zenit I won 2-0 with possession of 78% most of the game but that went down in last 10 minutes pass completion 90% with Mascherano with 80 passess and only 2 long shots with 17 shots in total and 3 CCCs hitting the woodwork 3 times too. Near perfect apart from the ratings :( I just wish I could get them all to be

As for your problem SS19 I have no idea mate. I've not really got any experience with the 4-6-0 tactic.
