2013 Summer Transfers

Season Expectations:
View attachment 267052View attachment 267053
Our odds for the new season reflect the success of last season minus the worldwide reputation of Real Madrid and Barcelona, instilled as third favourites at 16/1.
After bleeding the club dry with my relentless transfer activity last season i wasn't expecting a huge transfer kitty but 1.9m was less than i hoped for. Choosing title challenge as minimum expectation. The transfer kitty was not an issue as there are already 9 players due to arrive in July - including six freebies.
This of course would leave me with a lot of players so i will be looking to move some of them on.

Notable Transfers Out:
Gerard Autet - Retired
Simone Perrotta - Retired
Jesus Mendoza - Retired
David Cortes - Released
Miquel Robuste - Released
Albano Bizzarri - At.Madrid
Iliasu Shilla - Villarreal
Jose Manuel Rueda - Atalanta
Andrea Poli - Valencia
Pablo Pintos - Inter
Bruno Herrero - Osasuna
Malkhaz Asatiani - Hannover
Chidi Odiah - Bordeaux

Gerard Autet retired age 34 after failing to feature for us all season.
Jesus Mendoza retired age 35, playing just one cup game this season.
Simone Perrotta had stated earlier in the season his desire to leave for first team football, at the end of the season he announced his retirement stating he did not want to play at a lower level. Played 19 times for us and picked up his first league title in his entire career.
David Cortes' and Miquel Robuste's contracts ran down and were not offered new deals.
Albano Bizzarri fell out with me because i didn't think he was worthy of number one so i offloaded him for just 1k.
Iliasu Shilla, increasingly out of favour since Givaldo arrived, went to newly promoted Villarreal.
Jose Manuel Reuda starts a new challenge in Italy with Atalanta.
Andrea Poli was signed by Valencia as they matched his buyout clause.
Pablo Pintos' buyout clause also saw him move on, just six months after joining us. I tried to counter his move to Inter, offering him a new contract. I wanted him to stay.
Bruno Herrero surplus to requirements went to Osasuna.
Malkhaz Asatiani and Chidi Odiah fell down the pecking order after the summer arrivals so they left before the window closed.

Staying with Xerez has crossed my mind. I may stay for a couple more seasons but i intend to carry on with the alphabet challenge.

Transfers In:

Samir Handanovic
Age: 29 - Nationality: Slovenia - Position: GK

View attachment 267087

Juan Manuel Insaurralde
Age: 28 - Nationality: Argentina - Position: DC

Insaurralde improves our back line which needs improving.
View attachment 267089

Nicolas Pallois
Age: 25 - Nationality: France - Position: DL
From: Valenciennes - Fee: Free - Date: 1/7/13
I have no idea why i signed this guy, he couldnt get a game at Valenciennes...
View attachment 267095

Walter Pandiani
Age: 37 - Nationality: Uruguay - Position: ST
From: Espanyol - Fee: Free - Date: 1/7/13
Finally signed El Rifle on a full time basis - he spent his entire Espanyol career on loan with us anyway.
View attachment 267102

Gelson Fernandes
Age: 26 - Nationaliy: Switzerland - Position: DM
From: St Etienne - Fee: Free - Date: 1/7/13
Fernandes offers realistic competition for Mehmet Topal.
View attachment 267117

David Ospina
Age: 25 - Nationality: Colombia - Position: GK
From: Nice - Fee: Free - Date: 1/7/13
Had Ospina agreed to sign before Handanovic then i may have only signed Ospina. Will start season number one.
View attachment 267118

Eiji Nishizawa
Age: 18 - Nationality: Japan - Position: DL/DR
From: Tokyo Metro Feliz - Fee: 110k - Date: 1/7/13
Promisng young fullback can play either side - will fight with Insua and Mendes for first team action.
View attachment 267122

Kyrylo Tomakh
Age: 18 - Nationality: Ukraine/Russia - Position: DR
From: Dinamo Kiev - Fee: 180k - Date: 5/7/13
Like the signings above, the deal was done months ago, having to wait until his 18th birthday to join us. Will be used as right back although he looks much better going forwards.
View attachment 267124

Walter Montillo
Age: 29 - Nationality: Argentina - Position: MC
From: Man City - Fee: Loan - Date: 17/7/13
Following the sale of Poli to Valencia, i set about finding a midfield replacement. Out of favour Montillo was signed on loan for the season.
View attachment 267126

Coutinho
Age: 21 - Nationality: Brazil - Position: MC
From: Inter - Fee: Loan - Date: 18/7/13
Another season long loan MC to help fill Poli's place.
View attachment 267127

Keisuke Honda
Age: 27 - Nationality: Japan - Position: MC
From: CSKA Moscow - Fee: 4.5m - Date: 21/7/13
The Honda deal gives us a full time Poli replacement. Transfer listed he was a bargain at 4.5m. He'll make that back in shirt sales.
View attachment 267128

Radamel Falcao
Age: 27 - Nationality: Colombia - Position: ST
From: At.Madrid - Fee: 18.5m - Date: 7/8/13
After player sales we had 25m burning a hole but not many areas still needed strengthening. Transfer listed and available for his value, we smashed the Xerez transfer record to land a truly world class player. Very very excited about this one.
View attachment 267130

Rodolfo Rojas
Age: 18 - Nationality: Argentina - Position: DC
From: Velez - Fee: 575k - Date: 10/8/13
Another deal done months ago, Rojas joined us on his 18th birthday.

holy awsome transfer batman how u got falcao is awsome well done there

August 2013

I'm not going to post the friendlies this season - there were only four of them and not very exciting.
I enter the season full of confidence. On the back of two highly successful seasons we enter the champions league, armed with a world class forward. Our success made me a wanted man over the summer:
View attachment 267135View attachment 267136
Having already conquered Spain with the letter X and wanting to conquer England with letter M with Man United, neither job was worth taking except for enhancing my reputation. Although i was tempted to join Madrid, i mean, imagine what you could do with 245m on top of the team they already have!!!
Anyway, down to business...

Real Madrid 2-6 Xerez (Spanish Super Cup first leg)
(Falcao 5, Mandzukic)
Our first game was against Madrid, 2nd choice manager Ancelotti at the helm. As debut's go, you'll be hard pressed to find a more impressive one than Falcao's - first goal took just four minutes, hattrick arrived twenty minutes later and finished the game with five, against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.
View attachment 267138

Xerez ( 7 )1-2( 4 ) Real Madrid (Spanish Super Cup second leg)
(Mandzukic)
A strong first half saw Madrid 2-0 up. We were all over the place until the second half, we pushed on and almost got an equalizer. Falcao's first leg brilliance won us the Spanish Super Cup for the first time.
View attachment 267139

Xerez 6-0 Getafe
(Falcao 4, Rubio, Baptista)
Fantastic start to the defence of our league title. Falcao imperious.
View attachment 267140

Xerez 5-2 Real Madrid (European Super Cup)
(Rubio, Falcao 3, Mandzukic)
While we battled it out for the title last season with Barca and Real, they had their own European Champions Cup battle for the right to play the EURO Cup winners (us). So an all Spanish affair and another Falcao inspired thriller. Xerez's first ever European Super Cup.
View attachment 267143

A fantastic start to the season winning two trophies, beating Real Madrid to both, exacting revenge for the Spanish cup final in May. Record signing has hit the ground running to say the least.
View attachment 267145

Player of the Month:
Falcao
Who else? 5 on his debut, 12 in four games.
View attachment 267147

September 2013

Deportivo 0-5 Xerez
(Falcao 3, Mandzukic, Pandiani)
Newly promoted Deportivo offered little resistance as we ran riot.
View attachment 267262

Xerez 5-1 Barcelona
(Falcao 3, Rubio, Valdes og)
A stunning performance to finally record a win against Barcelona. Fernandes went off with a sprained ankle and will be out for six weeks. Rubio did not have any injury post game. Barca winless after three games and Busquets' header against us is their first goal of the season!
View attachment 267263

Anderlecht 1-4 Xerez (Champions Cup Grp F)
(Falcao 4)
We made our champions league debut against Belgian side Anderlecht. The Falcao show rolled on. The other teams in our group are Lyon and Dinamo Kiev.
View attachment 267264

Real Madrid 0-4 Xerez
(Falcao 3, Rubio)
We saw off Real at the Bernabeu with ease, Falcao has scored 8 in two games at the famous stadium. Astonishingly the 4th time we played Real in the first 8 games!!
View attachment 267265

Xerez 1-0 R.Sociedad
(Falcao)
The result was never in doubt, even without added a second we were comfortable winners.
View attachment 267266

Racing 0-8 Xerez
(Baptista, Falcao 6, Jorda)
Complete domination as Falcao equalled Connor Wickham's 6 goal record. I have never seen 4 injuries in one game before- this left them with ten men for the last 30 mins - a period where we scored 5 goals.
View attachment 267267

We comfortably lead BBVA as Barcelona and Real have faltering starts, including losing heavily to us. We already have a 5 point lead over At.Madrid and Valencia.
View attachment 267268

Player of the Month:
Falcao

The Colombian is still averaging a hattrick a game!!
View attachment 267269

Wow Falcao is doing amazing! What a bargain at only 18.5 million for 32 goals in all comps already!

Balotelli is available for 5m!!! Should i sign him or not?

Um... Yes? The main thing is not to disrupt your tatic though, so if he fits in, a definite yes.

Um... Yes? The main thing is not to disrupt your tatic though, so if he fits in, a definite yes.
He would play either right or left of three strikers. I currently have six strikers, 2 for each position, so its not desperate to get him but while the first three are strong, the back up three aren't so good.
First choice: SL Rubio, SC Falcao, SR Mandzukic
Backup: SL Jorda, SC Pandiani, SR Velez
Velez is the poorest so he would be sold if any striker was added to my team.

dont get him when he good hes awsome but thats not very often have a look around see who else there is very nice start u got going there and falcao form is sick hope he keeps it up for u what tac u using

October 2013

Firstly, i'd like to apologize for the delay.

Xerez 3-0 Dinamo Kiev (Champions Cup Grp F)
(Jorda, Baptista (p), Mandzukic)
We always looked comfortable but took time to kill the game off. Rare off day for Falcao.
View attachment 269464

Valencia 1-3 Xerez
(Falcao 2, Rami og)
Toughest game of the season so far, Valencia deserved something from this game but we had the luck.
Interesting side story was Poli vs his replacement Honda, Poli won the battle but Honda won the war.
View attachment 269465

Xerez 2-0 Osasuna
(Falcao 2)
Very comfortable result, could have been more than 2 and, in the case of Falcao, should have been more than 2, missing a penalty to seal his hattrick.
View attachment 269466

Xerez 3-0 Lyon (Champions Cup Grp F)
(Baptista, Falcao, Lisandro Lopez og)
We bossed the French champions, making it safe on the hour with a second.
View attachment 269467

Xerez 5-0 Zaragoza
(Falcao 2, Mandzukic, Lafita og, Baptista (p))
Complete dominance, we could have scored more. Without registering a shot at goal, Zaragoza still had a player on the scoresheet thanks to Lafita's og.
View attachment 269468

Orihuela 0-4 Xerez (Spanish Cup 4th Rnd first leg)
(Rubio 2, Gonzalez Gonzalez 2)
Took advantage of the favourable cup draw to rest a few key names and play some fringe players - including GGG who bagged a brace.
View attachment 269469

We power on in all competitions all to easily, Valencia aside they were all routine victories. Pulling away at the top as no team can match our consistency.
View attachment 269470

Player of the Month:
Joao Baptista

Can't give it to Falcao every month. Three goals from Baps as well as vital assists.
View attachment 269472

November 2013

Granada 1-6 Xerez
(Falcao 3
(1p), Rangel og, Baptista, Rubio)
Granada offered little resistance as we cruised to victory. Another og!!
View attachment 269473

Lyon 0-4 Xerez (Champions Cup Grp F)
(Mandzukic, Honda, Falcao 2)
This was never a 4-0-away-win-in-europe performance. Honda bagged his first Xerez goal.
View attachment 269474

Xerez 4-0 Sporting
(Rubio, Falcao, Mandzukic, Baptista (p))
A pleasing win as all three strikers who started got a goal.
View attachment 269475

Xerez ( 13 ) 9-0 ( 0 ) Orihuela (Spanish Cup 4th Rnd second leg)
(Honrubia og, Falcao 5, Bottinelli, Emilio Jose og, Mehmet Topal)
Again we rested a few key names, although not Falcao. Bottinelli and Mehmet Topal both scored their first Xerez goals in this hammering.
View attachment 269477

Espanyol 0-1 Xerez
(Falcao)
I think complacency set in, we were never in threat of losing but we were wasteful and didn't kill off a game against 10 men.
View attachment 269478

Xerez 4-0 Anderlecht (Champions Cup Grp F)
(Falcao 2, Mandzukic, Rubio)
The big three all on the scoresheet again. Another Falcao missed penalty.
View attachment 269481

100% record in tact, Barca and Real still nowhere.
View attachment 269482

Player of the Month:
Mario Mandzukic
A strong month from Mandy, chipping in with three goals.
