As a neutral, I won't be sad to see him go if that is true. Villa have played some dire stuff this season.

Source? All I've heard is that it is very likely. Betting suspended.

Expect to hear it on SSN very soon. The meeting has finished and everyone is expecting him to be sacked, no official word yet, either way, though.

I still don't get why people think Moyes will go anywhere but a top 4 club, top 6 at a push.

He's proved he can deliver consistent results at a medium sized premier league club, why would he want to start again from scratch at a club of similar size?

Hope McLeish is sacked. Villa should never have been embroiled in a relegation battle at any point in the season with the players they have

So which midlands club is next on his list to attempt to relegate?

McLeish sacked by Villa | Aston Villa News, Fixtures, Results, Transfers | Sky Sports
Quotes from Lener:
"We need to be clear and candid with ourselves and with supporters about what we have lacked in recent years.Compelling play and results that instil a sense of confidence that Villa is on the right track have been plainly absent. The most immediate action that we can take is to look carefully at our options in terms of bringing in a new manager who sees the club's potential and embraces our collective expectations."

Might be West Brom.

Hopefully Aston Villa will get a decent manager, Lambert and Martinez top the list.

Norwich finished higher than Villa in the league. Also, Villa went for Martinez last year and he turned them down.

Very happy with this news, and a positive message from the board really, I know we aren't going to be giving a huge transfer kitty or anything this summer but hopefully a more positive manager. This season has been harsh on McLeish, he had massive injury problems and fans have been against him since the start but there wouldn't have been less than 30,000 at Villa Park next season if he'd stayed and he's broken practically every negative record he could have broke this season. We have played awful negative football despite his promises he wouldn't too. It was never going to work out tbh.

I haven't got a clue who we're gonna get now, no Premier League manager is going to be interested without serious investment I don't think, Lambert seems to be bookies and fans choice but I can't see him leaving a team he's built himself and done so well with, same goes for Brendan Rodgers. I think most likely is Alan Curbishley. No compensation and a decent enough record, we couldn't complain at that appointment really, us Villa fans definitely need to realise we aren't going to be able to draw big names for quite a while, until all the big earners are gone and we are turning a profit and can afford to spend again.

There's no need for big names, I'd look at Newcastle and do the same at Aston Villa if I was Lerner.

Apparently Lerners other fortunes had turned around, so he was getting ready to re-invest again this summer, which may formed part of his decision when sacking Eck. Who would want to pump money into the club with him about. Still enough talent at the club for a top half finish.

I hadn't heard this, very happy if it's true, I just thought he'd got fed up of paying for nothing really, he hasn't seemed interested in the club at all this season. I think we have the quality for a top 10 finish if everyone was fit and on form but with big players not firing this season, except for Given who was excellent I'd have been pleased to finish 12th/13th. If we do get investment in the summer we could definitely attract a better manager. I am biased but we have a great structure. Brilliant youth facilities, a big stadium that will get good crowds with the right appointment and signings and a decent backbone of a squad to build on, starting to feel optimistic for next season already!

Yeah everything is in place for Villa to be a top half club. There is still a lot of quality at the club and it's been producing some good youngsters in recent seasons. Just as a neutral looking on it seems you need a positive, young manager to inject fresh energy into the club. Someone in the ilk of Martinez or Rodgers (not necessarily them, just someone like that), who will look to play attractive football and look to the bright future that the club has.

Not sure about Curbishley. I rate him as a manager (how could I not given who I support lol), but I think he might have been out of the game too long. I think he would be a mere continuation of the season-by-season, get-to-40-points-and-go-from-there kind of manager. I'm sure he would guide you to a comfortable finish, but the football might not be so exciting.
