***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

Hey I am playing as Southampton in my first season on the new patch, really struggling away from home any advice?
team is:
GK: Boruc
RB: Frazer Richardson? I think
CB: Fonte
CB: Strandberg
LB: Clynne
CDM: Scnhneiderlin
CM: Cork
RM: Davies
AML: Ramirez
AMC: Wellington Nem
S: Kwueke

I was wondering whether there were any better RM's to get on a budget? Also my fullbacks are god awful, any recommendations there? Struggled to find ones in a decent budget that fit the bill!

At home a wonderful tactic, but bleeding Grant Holt scored 4 against me away from home in a 5-2 drubbing I got from Norwich..... grrrrr!

With Obertan, I can understand it as he is not a MR at all, neither by position or stats, With Ben Arfa, he has the dwells on the ball and runs trough center, to ppms that are rather conflicting as the MR is really a classic winger. Narurally, its good if they cut inside late in attacks, but not too early like Ben Arfa tries to. ( or are you using the mirrored version and are referring to the AMR spot?)

My bad that was the last game before the patch... now I updated it and my next 2 games were away at chelsea and home with Man utd ... to sum up the 2 games, the left side now is owning the game plus the DMC ... the central defenders are less error prone ...and the striker seams to get more involved ... but yes you are correct MR is **** now , dunno why :( ... I also added the images with the 2 games I played :) hope you like them

With Crystal Palace buying and selling no one... won the championship with 101 points out of both cups straight away (fa was vs man city on replay) so seems to work on new patch.. will let you know how i get on next season!

I would still say that you are not using the correct players as they are not classic wingers. One is a AMR and one is a player that runs through the center and dwells on the ball. My M-Wingers are playing really good.

One cant argue with those results though as they are truly great and in some matches, the f,low will be more focused down the AM-Winger flank ( often when lauching counter attacks and facing better teams) and sometimes down the M-Winger flank ( liek when dragging the opponents on to you, using a more patient build up)

:) Ok , be that as it may, maybe I am not using the correct set-up of players for MR and AML , then that means your tactic it trully brilliant and I won all these matches using it :) then my hat is off to you Sir TheBetterHalf

would you say that your sets of four or your plug and play are more effective in this fm? whicever one is your answer could you mind telling me your strongest set of four or your strogest plug and play, cheers :)

I have difficult playing away with this tactic. My team is Belenenses. That's the unique bad thing on this tactic.

Are you à top, middle or bottom team in terms of reputation and quality?
Also, do you have a group of " winners ", players with good mental stats?

Have a look in these posts as it might help you ( post 578 & 579 )

Bottom team , but the best team of the league (Second Division from Portugal). Winners? How so? Yeah , they have some nice mental stats. Thanks , will check it.

By Winners, I mean players that are professional, determined, hardworking, consistent, that can handle pressure etc. The kind of players you would want in your national side.

I can't say if this has been because of the update however i have been experimenting with team talks a bit more today as the method used yesterday (calm, no pressure etc) seemed to lack the effectiveness today. Instead i've gone to an assertive, do it for the fans pre-match with an assertive half time and full-time talk and it's worked wonders in the 2 games i've used it. Here's some screens to show what i mean...

This guy is nuts. took best part of 12 matches to score his first goal as he settled in to the formation however since then he has been prolific.

I noticed people talking about the "right player" for the MR/ML spot and really i think it matters more who you have behind them. I tend to play Navas and Cazorla rotating in the MR spot who both have low defensive skills however Sagna and Corchia as FB behind them have pace and the ability to retain the ball meaning that they rarely have to track back. Admittedly i may concede more goals than most however these tend to come from down my left flank or from set pieces suggesting that in the MR/ML spot it is more important to get good cover in defence.

They aren't extraordinary players. Are good for the second league , just that. Not good for top teams.

Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

Clyne is a very good player m8. In my United save o got him to the National Team (I'm with Man Utd and England, 4th season). But i think that he works better on the right. On the left you have Luke Shaw, don't you? A beast imo.

If you are struggling away, maybe its because you don't have much team work in the mids, wingers and AMC. You need them to come back to help the defenders.

well I just struggle away from home really! Shaw is a little too young at the moment in my game to start, also Clynne at the RB position looks dodgy as the RB is meant to be a little bit defensive I thought and Clynne is far from that ha

I had limited budget to start with hopefully I get a bit more in January so I can improve the midfield

Ok then, think i'll start over, will sell the 2 of em and see if i get a couple 'classic wingers'. Any suggestions?

WOOW that's even better then my 4-0 against Man Utd :) ... that's a really nice team you got there, and yes I agree the team talks now are different, players don't respond that good now ... with my Chelsea match I had to go Rambo on them and Yell out PreGame Aggressive - I expect nothing but a win and that got Cisse and Ben Arfa motivated ...the rest nothing ... and yes Assertive works good now ... and one more notable things : a lot of thru balls now played over the defenders, that looks nice :) let me know if you noticed this
