Nice TBH

Will this be plug n play like the previous versions of this tactic?

Nice TBH

Will this be plug n play like the previous versions of this tactic?

It is a plug & play with all its pros & cons. Basiclly, the tactic is setup to produce the flow I wanted and had in the previous patch, the play haveing many dimensions with one side playing more probing football whilst the other side being more direct with players moving quickly into space.
Naturally, one could tweak the tactic into becoming a better and more stabel plug & play tactic overall, but then it would not be using the same philosophy and instead be a different tactic.

2 TBH , how your team tactic of FM12 work on FM13 latest patch, I want create a new game with 4-3-1-2 Italian of yours. Is it ok. Sorry for my very bad English.

Hi, TBH! I am managing Millwall at the moment (December, first season) and using a flat 442 Balanced with standard mentality, shorter passing, more pressing and zonal marking. I tweaked only the Defensive line to the middle (10/20) since some neither D. Shittu nor M. Beevers are very pacey. The roles are as follows:

1. GK Ben Amos - GK defend
2. CB Shane Lowry, Danny Shittu, Mark Beevers, Stephano Denswil - CD defend
3. FB Matthew Briggs, Scott Malone - FB support
4. FB Adam Smith, John Pantsil - FB support
5. MCR Liam Trotter (tweaked his Run with ball to sometimes), Josh Wright - DLP defend
6. MCL Nadjim Abdou, David Davis - BWM support
7. MR James Henry, Liam Feeney - Winger Attack
8. ML Scott Malone, Chris Taylor - Wide Midfielder Attack
9. FCR Rob Hulse, Mamady Sidibe - Target Man Support
10. FCL Andrew Keogh, Nouha Dicko - Adv. Forward Attack

The results are excellent, currently first-placed in Championship. Strikers, especially Keogh (23 goals in 23 matches), are scoring like mad. Everybody is aiming his crosses to Target Man and when Sidibe is not injured (Natural Fitness 5) he is doing some very nice flick-ons (I did not check Target Man in team instructions). The Ball Winning Midfielder and the MR (Winger Attack) are also doing great. However, my DLP (Trotter) is not doing enough assists even though he is averaging ~7.15 rating. Also, the Wide Midfielder (ML) is doing below 7.00 - very disappointing. I watch some of the matches and the left flank just isn't working very well, it creates too few chances for the forwards. I also tried Scott Malone as Wingback Attack, hugging the line, and Matthew Briggs as Wide Midfield on Defend duty, holding the ball in the midfield while the wingback overlaps and staying back, providing a cover in the left midfield zone - the results weren't satisfying also. The only tweaks I did in the player instructions (aside from lowering the long shots and crossing intensity for these players with poor long shots and crossing stats) is to set man marking and tight marking (yes) for the ML and MR.

Could you please provide some advices how to improve the tactic? Thank you in advance!

TBH´s SPLIT 451 - The Libero Version

THE BETTER HALF´S
SPLIT 451 LIBERO VERSION

( WILL CONTINUE TO UPDATE)

DISCLAIMER
This is not a tactic that will win you titles by exploiting the match engine. Instead, it’s just one approach that is fun to use and for me, it has certainly brought great results. My point here is that there in nothing in this tactic that makes up for bad man management and as every approach has its pros and cons, so does this.

Found as attachment at the end of this opening post

IMPORTANT
Click the screens to see the description of the playerroles. Also have a look in the FAQs at the bottom of the opening post to see if yuour question has already been answered.

TheTarget Man
If your players are having trouble reaching the FC with their crosses, then just set all their distrubution to mixed instead. After all, if the opponent sits really deep and have 2 men marking our FC, then its better to have more dimensions in the crosses: Naturally, this also goes for when the TM or Playmaker is having a bad day. Then I would actually change it midgame and pick "none" in the PLM and TM box.

THE TACTIC
I have uploaded 2 tactic. One is called Left version, and one Right version, being a mirror of the first one. They are both identical and sno version is better than the other. Just use the one that suits your squad

This one is a tweak of my old SPLIT 451 and it uses the same approach. By having many dimensions to the play, the flow will look different depending on the pros and cons of the opponents approach. The aim is to both be able to play in a patient and probing possession style whilst always being ready to launch that quick attack.

When looking at the player requirements, you will quickly see that it’s a pretty demanding approach. Not only do we play a high energy game but we also use 2 really clever in our Ball Playing DC and the Libero. In theory, this approach should not work with weak teams lacking players with high stats in Decision, Work rate, team Work and Determination but you are naturally welcome to try it with **** teams to.

TEAM INSTRUCTIONS

THE FLOW
( to come)

SHOUTS

As many of the settings have been tweaked, they won’t have the desired effect so don’t use them

OPPOSITION INSTRUCTIONS

None has been used during the testing/making of the tactic

PLAYMAKER

Yes, the MC

TARGET MAN

Yes, the FC

PLAYERS

Here, I have decided to show some images of their settings, the description of their role and the important stats. As you see, I have cut and pasted some text and inserted some of my own to suit these tweaked roles. Make sure to look at the text and the stats so you see what PPMS that go well with them and which are conflicting ( like the False 10 AMC being better off with “getting forward “ rather than “comes deep to get ball”, you get the hang of it)

PLAYERFILTERS
I have uploaded the playerfilters for all positions. Now, these are not made for your normal topnotch team but for middleteams so the requirements are not that high. If managing a top club, then you have to increase some of the numbers and if managing York, then hey should be reduced.

Also remember that when making filters where they need to meet 11 out of 14 stats, just makes sure that they know the most important ones, those needed to actually be able to perform the duties described beneath

Another thing to notice is that when making filters, its easy to overlook players not used to a certain position so therefo. I have tried not to restrict their position to much, which is why you might see a FC coming up when searching for a Ball-Playing DC etc. I usually look for stats, then sign the players and retrain them :D

FULLBACK
The Full Back is a key player in modern football, having to supplement his traditional defensive duties with overlapping runs down the wing to support forward play and help attack overload the final third

Although primarily a defensive player, he most prepare to get forward when the team needs extra width

With his Attack duty, the Full Back supplements his defensive responsibilities by overlapping the midfield and providing first time crosses into the area, as well as getting into the same looking for a goal scoring opportunity

View attachment 366260View attachment 366259

COVER CENTRAL DEFENDER
The main job of the Central Defender is to stop the opposing attackers from playing and clear the ball from danger when required

However, especially for more aggressive tactics, he must also possess the technique and composure to be able to help the team maintain possession and lay off simple passes to more creative players

With the defend covering) duty, this Central Defender will drop a little deeper ans sweep up through balls behind the defensive line

View attachment 366272View attachment 366271

BALL PLAYING DEFENDER
The main job or the Ball-Playing Defender is to stop the opposing attackers from playing and clear the ball from danger when required.

However, unlike standard central defenders, the Ball-Playing Defender is encouraged to launch defence splitting through balls from deep to generate counter-attacking opportunities

With a Defend (Stopper) duty, the Ball-Playing Defender will push ahead of the defensive line and close down players before they get to the area.

View attachment 366268 View attachment 366267

LIBERO - The perfect Distrubutor

The Libero drops behind the defensive line, aiming to sweep up through balls, pick up extra attackers and make goal saving tackles, blocks and interceptions.

His exceptional athleticism and reading of the game enable him to cover for defensive errors, take possession of loose balls from a deep position and secure possession. However, he will also roam forward in support of the midfield when the team has possession.

With an Attack duty, the Libero ventures much higher up the pitch to provide a goal scoring threat from distance alongside looking to playing in teammates

View attachment 366275 View attachment 366274

DMC - The Box 2 Box DMC
The non-stop of this Defensive Box-2-Box Midfielders enables him to contribute greatly both in defending and attacking

In attacks, he pushes up to support the midfield and forward, often surging late in to the box to get on to the end of crosses and pullbacks as well as proving a threat from distance.

In defense, he harries attacking midfielders and helps protect the defensive line.

View attachment 366277View attachment 366276

MCleft – The Deeplying Playmaker
The Deep-Lying Playmaker operates in the space between the defense and midfield and aims to initiate attacking moves via pinpoint passes to players positioned higher up in the pitch.

Although primarily a creative player, the Deep-Lying Playmaker also has to be competent in the art of defense.

In his Defend duty, the Deepl-Lying Playmaker will fulfill extra defensive responsibilities by holding position in front of the defense and will rarely look to support attacks.

View attachment 366279 View attachment 366278

M-WINGER – The Hardworking Winger

The Wide Midfielder performs defensive and attacking duties on the flanks, supporting the forward, midfield and defense when needed.

Generally lacking either explosive pace or great crossing of an out-and-out Winger, the Wide Midfielder relies on team work, work rate to get into dangerous attacking positions without compromising his defensive responsibilities.

With a Support/Defend duty, the Wide Midfielder will stay deeper and play angled through balls into the box from his wide position, although he will still cross when it is on.

As he is the only wide player on this flank, he really needs to have the stamina to work up and down the flank.

View attachment 366281

AM-WINGER – The 3rd Striker
This player acts like a 3rd striker. He stays wide with the ball if the space is found down the flank. When using his free role finding space inside, he will get into the area and straight for goal. To make sure he is not pushed back too far in the field when defending, he is on tight man-marking

View attachment 366283 View attachment 366282

AMC – The False 10 2nd Striker
The Attacking Midfielder operates higher up in the pitch than a standard midfielder, so he cannot drive into space from deep in the manner of an attacking Central Midfielder

Requiring excellent techniqual and mental skills, his role is to fashion cnhances for himself and others in the final third before the opposition defenders reduce the time and space he has to make the play

With an Attack Duty, Attackaing Midfielder locks to craft for his forward alongside peing presence in the box to supplement the attack. In short, we are here looking at a False 10 acting like the 2nd striker

View attachment 366286 View attachment 366285

FC – The Strong False Nine Target Man
A Target Man can transform an average team into a good one by using his sheer physicality to disrupt the opposition’s defense and open space for his striker partnership and supporting midfielders.

With a Support Duty, the Target Man will look to win flick ons and play simple possession passes to his teammates to bring them into play.

Being a top team though means that he needs to be much more complete, being able to both break through the defense and finish as well as using his technique to pinpoint trough balls. In short, he acts like a Complete False Nine Linkman coming deep.

TRAINING

TEAM
As it’s a mix between having creative players AND using a high energy approach, no overall team training is actually better than the other. If you have a young team that really lacks in Physic or Ball Control (the Mourinho way), then alter between these 2 until they get better at this. If they should lack in cleverness, then use tactics etc. Remember that training only makes your player’s focus that bit extra (on the cost of the rest) stats and is not something that influences anything short term.

Personally, I always go with a tactic approach that actually suits my team so therefor, I use Balanced training and combine it with individual ones
.

INDIVIDUALL TRAINING
When looking at the needed stats for the roles and you see that a player has a soft spot, then focus on that one. If the player has no real weakness that will undermine his performance in this role, then focus on letting him become a world beater in one of the more important stats. If the target man somewhat lacks in cleverness, then why not let him train the stats of a Trequartista.

Remember that the player does not learn a role but instead trains that little bit extra for those stats the game considers important for the chosen role

To learn more about training in generall, have a look here

A Guide to Training

The main Team Training screen is presented as below:

30607729.png

The immediate next three weeks are laid out day-by-day in calendar form, displaying what's planned on a weekly basis and how your match schedule falls into place around your training schedule. From here, you're able to set up exactly how you want to approach the short and medium term fixture list.

Gone are the days of devising and creating a series of schedules for players to train under. The entire focus now is on the team as a group and how they work towards each match.

Across the top of the screen are three main sections

General Training
Scheduling
Match Training

'General Training' allows you to set up a Default Focus and Intensity for how the team should work as a rule of thumb. Select one area for the team to generally work on, and determine how hard you want them to work at it.

The 'Scheduling' slider tweaks how much you want to adopt a match-by-match approach compared to an overall focus on your own team. In effect, this controls how concerned you are about matching the opposition and attempting to annul their strengths or exploit their weaknesses compared to how much you want to accentuate your own team's positives and take the initiative.

The 'Match Training' section allows you to set a specific focus area to work on in the immediate days before each match, as well as whether you want to include rest days before and after matches.

Once you've set up your general approach, you can then delve into the more intricate details of the weekly approach. If you decide that a particular upcoming fixture requires special attention, then you can choose to alter the Focus for that week and override your default 'General Training' instructions. Each Focus has its own colour code on the calendar layout, providing visual confirmation of the changes you've made.

The day before each match (or the two days before if you move the 'Scheduling' slider towards 'More Match Training') is designated to Match Preparation. This has previously resided in the Tactics section, but has now been fully integrated into the Training section. If you feel the need to deviate from your General and Weekly Focus in a bid to pay even greater attention to detail for a specific opponent, now's the time to do so.

By presenting three weeks of the schedule at a time, you're able to keep abreast of the nuances in your fixture list and how it might affect your players. A light schedule of one match per week or fewer might invite an opportunity to work on one area with a greater intensity and can provide great progress in a short period of time.

However, if you're faced with a backlog of matches with as many as three per week, you might not have the time nor the physical capability within the squad to do anything other than work on your own game and attempt to preserve the squad's fitness as best possible.

Individual Players

Whilst the focus on individual schedules has gone, you can still work on areas of individual players' games and attempt to refine their profiles. Professional players tend to train together in groups - either as a whole team or within their general positions - on a day to day basis and work to refine a particular aspect of their game outside of this time; either scheduled by the coaches or of their own volition.

The 'Individual' sub-tab presents your squad; select a player's table row to bring up his Training Report on the right hand side of the screen.

From here, you can set up a new Individual Training Focus or begin training them in a New Position and adjust their Intensity at which they work on their additional craft. Advice and updates from your coaching staff is offered on all of this, beginning with a breakdown of the percentage of their additional time being spent on each area.

The 'Individual Training Focus' aspect of development allows you to target a specific area of a player's attribute profile and focus extra work on it.

For example, you may have a talented defender who is lacking a bit in the heading department. In order to try and address this, you can select 'Heading' as an individual focus. If it's particularly weak, increasing the intensity will request that he works at it harder and for a longer period of time.

You can keep track of the effect this is having, if at all, by clicking on 'View Attribute Development'. Select a 'Training Category' from the drop-down menu to label the appropriate attributes for that area in different colours, which area also plotted on the graph at the bottom to show month-by-month progress.

Individuall Focus - A role
When chosing a role, it means that the player focus a little extra on the key stats for the role. Here, you have a player that is focusing on becoming a more suitable Ball playing Defender.

93225031.png

Coaches
The 'Coaches' tab, available from the tabs in the bottom panel, controls how your coaching staff handles training. Each coach is, by default, assigned to work in every aspect of training, unless they are of a specific type (i.e. goalkeeping or fitness), in which case they are restricted to that area only.

Each member of your backroom staff is likely to be particularly proficient in a particular aspect of training. If this is the case, it is worthwhile to assign them to this/these area(s) only. Proficiency in an aspect of training is graded on a star rating, one star being poor whilst five stars are excellent.

A higher number of stars will increase the effectiveness of the training schedules on your players. A coach with high attributes in key areas who is only assigned to coach categories he is strong in will result in a much better training schedule.

In order for your coaches to be as useful as possible to you in your training schedules, you should endeavour to find the correct attributes required for more stars in their area of training.

Strength: Coaches should have a high Fitness rating.
Aerobic: Coaches should have a high Fitness rating.
Goalkeeping: Coaches should have a high Coaching Goalkeepers rating.
Tactics: Coaches should have a high Tactical rating.
Defending: Coaches should have high ratings in Coaching Defending and Tactical.
Ball Control: Coaches should have high ratings in coaching Technical and Mental.
Attacking: Coaches should have high ratings in coaching Attacking and Tactical.
Shooting: Coaches should have high ratings in coaching Attacking and Technical.

Youth
Everything in this section applies to Youth Training. Your youth team players will train together, but bear in mind that as younger players who are still physically developing, intensities will behave differently and you may have to balance and fine-tune things a bit more accurately to get the best out of them. Your senior coaches may work with the youth team in addition to youth team coaches if you wish to give them the benefit of their strengths and experience, whilst youth players may be invited to train with the first team should you wish them to do so (by promoting them into a squad above the youth team).

SET PIECES
As this tactic is just a tweak of my old ones, they contain the same instructions. In all my tactics, these have never been setup as I cant know who your best corner taker is or what players that are most leathal in the air. So, you have to set them up your selfes

RECOMENDED PLAYERS
( TO COME)

Here are just some example from teams in the English Premier League. Naturally, you can get better players than these but its onlt to show you that in alsmot every teamm there are players that can handle the approach

FC
Giroud, Benteke, Dzeko, Steven Fletcher, Berbatov, Carroll( if unlearn “ first time shots), Chamakh, Holt, Lukaku, Adebayor( unlearn “beats offside trap”), Kone ( as Wigan will be under more pressure, his speed and ppms are great)

F.A.Q

Q – Does this tactic work with small teams?

A – In theory, it should not since it’s a high energy approach using both a Ball playing Dc and a Libero

Q – Do you use Shouts?
A – No as many settings has been tweaked, the shouts won’t work as intended

Q – Can I change the roles of the players?
A – As many roles have tweaked settings, just be aware of what changes and what does not but if wanting to use a quick poacher instead of a Target man, then the flow will be ever so different. It might work against teams using a high d-line etc. etc.

Q – What match prep do you use?
A – Well, match prep is something you focus that little bit extra on for the coming match and is not something that should be used without a plan. If the opponent has scored half of their goals from set pieces, then defending set pieces might be a good idea. If you think they will sit really deep and defend, then perhaps attacking movement etc. etc.

Q – What team talk should I use?
A – Well, this is not something that has anything to do with this tactic as such but I will put up my approach later

Q - I see so many shots off target, how can I fix this ?
A - Have a look in the match analyzetool. Is it headers being missed, are they from the AML cutting inside using his wrong foot etc?. After having looked at it, get back to me and I will make some suggestions.

Download found as an attachment at the end of the opening post

I will continue to take screens describing the flow, just like in the other SPLIt 451

SS of results?

Coming ( as in the OP). I have tested it with the following teams

- Absolute Top Team ( Forest 12 seasons in)
- Top Team ( Man C)
- Top Team ( Spurs)
- Underdog ( Villa)
- Middle team ( Tranmere)
- Heavy Unerdog ( York)

Great results with all teams. Although results with Tranmere and York where great, the flow does not look nearly as good for obviouse reasons :D

Will update the OP with the results that I do have on this comp later today and the rest when I get hold of my other comp ( that is at work)

can we change the libero to fullback with the same settings with your fullback?
