***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

Yes, cant you see them ??

I think that "Must" wnats some screens from games. I would love to see some to.

Btw, im playing Benfica, 3rd season (2 ECL) and for me the bigger teams are Me, Bayern, Barça, Madrid, Man Utd and City. Should i play "underdog" with them to get them in the counter?

My idea it to make them playing their game (attacking with possession) and then kill them with some deadly counter attacks. I know i cant play like this against Rosenborg, but despite my achivments, they still play against me playing pure offesnive footbal wich sometimes gives me a lot of work to hold, espcially when they are losing (only time i dont like to score in the early minutes of the game).

Cheers and congrats on this one (lots of requests in the forum for this kind of tatics)

Great wins seem to be coming at home, however, not away from home.

Is there anything you would advise when playing away? Just lost to QPR somehow :(

NOt as such as I have no troubel winning away. Naturally, I still lose and draw some matches when on the road, especially against teams that are more fired up than me ( more a man management issue and not the tactic). You could try to lower the closing down of all players by 4 notches if you get drawn out of position.

I'll give it a go mate..played Spurs away there now using def positioning, and was 3-1 up at half time, ended up drawing 4-4. So could be team-talks or something.

Thanks anyway mate!

CHeers. !

Well, I will try to upload some screens of some matches. Dont have any of the seasons with retired managers of Hudds and Morecambe though but should be able to put up some represenative screens of my save with POsh, Walsall and...a struggling liverpool side that I took over with 10 matches to go

As for the tactic working with Benfica, I am sure that the approach will get you results. Just remember that a team like Bayern sits with a depp 4231, playing on the break. Here, this approach might backfire if pressing too high up in the pitch.

Going to continue my making of different formations for underdogs and smaller teams now. Currently using a Narrow Diamond and after that a deep box midfield, a 352 and a 451.

Have a look at my other thread containing the underdog tactic. Download the tacticset and look at the version called "lower press" and inplement the pressing system from that version and see what happends

I would love to see what you come up with for the 3-5-2. I have tried over and over to find some consistency with 3@the back with WB's but have had only sporadic success.

Its with MR/L though :) Anyway, Will probably put up à beta version during the coming week.

TEST WITH A STRUGGLING POOL
Although the tactic is mainly for underdogs, I decided to use it on a struggling Liverpool side that had just sacked their manager. I took over just before the Arsenal game and obviously the results below the white line is using this tactic. The High Press version was used in all matches

Going to try today the underdog with high presuure. Seems to work with bigger teams, no?

Yes it does. BUt as written in the OP, it wont get you those great, great wins if the team is the even slightest conplacent. As sson as the players stops closing down as a unit, we gve away possession and jus grind out ugly results. Remember that my results with Pool where with a struggling pool and teams actually tried to attack us and perhaps even underestimated us

If anyone would like to betatest the same approach but within a Narrow Diamond formation, please give me a shouts and I will send you a link to the tactics

Cheers !

My first matches with this beta version ( of the Narrow Diamond), NO signings just letting the assman pick the team

TBH, used this as a complement of my possession tactics. Result:

1-4 against Ajax in ECL groups (plus 5 woodwork!!)
7-0 against Braga in Zon Sagres League (just a comment. Zon is a TV cable supplier and Sagres a beer, and they both sponsor the league!! We would only need some Playboy sponsor to get it all)

In detail, the game against Ajax showed me that this tatic is good against average teams at their home, as they try to make some pressure and attack, leaving the defense open.

Against Braga, a wannabee in the Portuguese league, i had always problems with their counter attack, especially if i score early in the game. The team just seemed to slack a little bit. Well, with this tactic, my man where always in the right place! I was delighted! 3 more things: Tactic, result at half time (4-0, they had the morale down), plus the team talk before and in the middle of the game where crucial to the success.

I've just tweaked the long shots to none.
