***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

I might give this a download, not really a fan of this formation, but I'll give it ago for a season, and see how it goes.

All the Team Tactics are for the latest patch ( or all patch for the matter).

Hey mate, need a bit of tactical help, won't upload the team as I'm well into the game and full of regens. Resigned from my Spurs team as it wasn't a challenge anymore and took the luxurious leap of... MK Dons in the Blue Square South in the year 2021.

Just to give you a summary of my team's traits, they're probably one of the top teams in the league but they one major flaw which I'm not accustomed to working with: Super slow defenders (and most outfield players for that matter save one quick poacher).
Mentally, for the league I'm in they're very strong, and technically they're above average.

I'm only three games in and have had mixed results so far - 1 loss at home, 1 draw away and 1 win at home in a 4-3 thriller where my team blew a 3-0 lead to begin with.

Here is how I've set them up so far, but really not sure if it is best for the players I'm using:

Quite a deep defensive line, Width very wide and tempo very quick, got an advanced playmaker ticked for someone who plays that role quite well and targetman run onto ball for the quick poacher. Passing mixed, no counter attack and no offside.

This is the main area I need help on. My Spurs side was so different and I generally live by quick defenders so I can play higher up the pitch but it honestly just isn't possible to find them for a blue square side. Help greatly appreciated.

pitch size

That would depend on the players. Looking at the tactic and the circumstance, and you will see the following

  • -Close down heavily: Meaning that the bigger pitch, in theory the bigger area to close down. So teams with players lacking in stamina would prefer a smaller pitch.
  • Focus the play down the flanks: Ifthe pitch is really narrow, the wingers will struggle to find space out wide. This will result in that once the ball is played into channels out wide, the more narrow the pitch is, the harder it is to play it into an area not already flooded by players.
  • - Its a tactic for top teams, hence opponents are likely to sit deep and flood the midfield, perhaps trying to play balls over the top of our defenders: Here, a really short pitch means that if we have slow defenders or face really pacey attackers, the opponent will have a harder time putting those balls over the top. A short pitch will also make the center of the park congested, making it harder for the opponent to boss their flooded midfield, playing cautious triangles. If we on the other hand have really pacey defenders and all players have great stamina, its sometimes great to let the opponent put one of these balls over the top so that they push up their team. As in this scenario, our defenders will get to it first, we can now launch a dangerous counterattack. So here, a long pitch will be really good

In general though, and if uncertain about the players and how the opponents are likely to play against you, I would suggest that you go for a standard pitch and if wanting to increase something, then try to get it slightly wider

Going to start à new save using the more defensive and direct counter version written about at the end if the first post. As its à tactic for middleteams and underdogs, I would like some suggetions Of teams I should try ut with. So far, its been tested with Aston Villa, Pool( 3rd season middle team) and Wigan with top results. Now, I need À team in the CCC that you all usually struggle with and take them to the prem in 2011/2012 and then to directly to à safe middle position in 2012/2013.. Suggestions ?

The tactic is à deep and wide 42121- flat 4- DMC DMC - MC- Amr AML - FC,so the squad needs to atleast somewhat match that.

Portsmouth :D

ohh championship hmm id go with peterborough!

Thanks. After looking at their squads, I went with Posh since they are the worse team.
( started out really well, 3 wins out of 3.)

EDIT:From now on, this thread will only be about the tactic presented it the OP so I will no go more off topic and discuss the new one ( Will upload it in a new thread when its ready)

At this level, its better to keep it simple. To get this discussion going, lets get more facts down on the table. Are you intending to use the TC and tweak´lots of sliders, use the pure TC settings ( and being able to use shouts) or use classic mode ?

Cheers

How many matches have you drawn and lost lately, are you too far away from United, city, Arsenal etc to be able to win the title ?
